My sources tell me that Ron was told of only three sales. He too has been misled by the board and he no longer intends to stay at Southampton beyond the summer but is hoping to do his best to get him a bigger club. Like Poch basically.

It is basically a closing down sale. It is not fair to mislead us fans so much when we are so loyal in our support physically, mentally and financially. The fans of our great club always unite at bad times as well as good. We must now unite to oust the board and owners. I gather also that this has begun with a big people protest expected at our first home game.

forestsaint

2.) 26 Jul 2014
Which of the tabloid newspapers are you working for to get a story? It's not yet time to start demanding the owners and board leave given we've seen nothing of the new look Southampton and haven't made all the signings yet. I'm worried, but nobody should be at protest level yet.

3.) 26 Jul 2014
Agree with saintphil. New players will be coming into club without a doubt. We have not seen the complete new team yet but four pre season games with four wins and four clean sheets says a lot IMO. Harrison reed just signed new deal with us so I'm guessing roko knows exactly what going on and knows who he wants at the club and has a plan. Time to protest no. We need to keep faith and support the club not write it off

4.) 26 Jul 2014
Why do our signings take ages to sort out though? Other clubs seem to wrap deals up for our players fairly easily. I just think it would have helped saints fans if they had brought in another player before letting more go. I'm staying positive at the moment, but if we don't bring in some of the better players talked about on here I will start to worry

Think back to where we were 5 years ago. I'm very happy, we are at the strongest position we've ever been and have some great youth talent. Support your football club, don't moan at the board, at least they are spending. would you rather have Rupert Lowe come back? lol

6.) 26 Jul 2014
This is not the time to turn on our beloved Saints. The chairman must make a statement urgently to calm all these jitters or nobody will join us except Mickey mouse. I have been saying all week that something is wrong, let's see the management stand tall. God Bless you all

Why are people so quick to blame the board? From Lallana, Shaw and maybe Chambers (if he leaves for the reported 16 mil) we will of got near enough 70 million, three players that we payed nothing to get, three players who came through our academy. That's really good business if you ask me. And has anyone thought that maybe Koeman doesn't rate Chambers? People need to stop blaming the board as it's the easiest thing to do, and Koeman leaving in the summer, ridiculous.

8.) 26 Jul 2014
SFC4 a very deluded post indeed

9.) 26 Jul 2014
Gingersaint most fans are concerned with how much time we have left to sign DECENT replacements for the wantaways. we are ****ed

10.) 26 Jul 2014
I wonder what lies Reed gave to RK, maybe the same as the fans! Perhaps Poch had advance warning of the shambles ahead, so no wonder he got out.
Whilst admire the positive posts look at last nights team how many untried kids too early for the PL.
We have more scouts and advisors than most yet take at least twice as long to complete our signings.
I would not yet subscribe to the Board out calls but Reed out for sure and at least tell us the truth and stop treating the fans like employees

11.) 26 Jul 2014
To me selling players for big sums is only good business if it is re invested some way as far as a fan is concerned. But it's far too early to judge in my opinion.
Nobody knows what's going on behind closed doors, so I suppose we need to be a little more patient before grabbing our pitch forks

12.) 26 Jul 2014
26 Jul 2014 11:26:54
I am also extremely concerned with the lack of players being brought in, and I for one am getting very annoyed. But some fans on here think you can sign 6 players in a day, it takes time to scout players and make sure they're right for the team and the price is right. Look at Tottenham, payed way over the budget for many players and they all flopped, at least we're making sure the players are good enough.

13.) 26 Jul 2014
"We want to retain the players we've got. They all have existing contracts and we intend for them to honour those contracts. Any enquiries we will get will probably be met with a no, not for sale sign. Our intention is to keep this very good team together and build on it by bringing in new players to improve it" (Les Reed, April 2014). I'm not sure I believe this man, however good the players we sign are!

14.) 26 Jul 2014
Saintsmiff my pitch folk is ready to go question is wtf is Les Reed actually doing??????

15.) 26 Jul 2014
Precisely, we need to reinvest, or maybe we should have before we started the whole-sale changes, if we have our targets sign them and give them time time to embed into the team, or else it's going to be a slow start and pressure building early on.

I think that we are all impatient and are obviously worried but the sort of players we are thinking of buying are probably in great demand by other clubs. The negotiation process will be more complex due to greedy agents asking for silly money. A lot of the other clubs deals go through more quickly as there are fewer clubs wanting to buy the players, look at Newcastle and West Ham etc. The sale of Lovren to the scousers has dragged on for ages because he is a high profile player and was not originally for sale. It is the same for the fans up there getting fed up with waiting. A lot of the transfers that have happened are by clubs that are willing to sell unfortunately we are trying to buy players from clubs that don't want them to go, Morgan is an example of this but probably he will still leave. Frustrating I know but don't get the lynch mob out just yet, just wait till 17th August when the season starts, you may have to put the rope back in the barn. The last thing Koeman wants is the fans getting on his back before a ball has been kicked in earnest.

17.) 26 Jul 2014
Chrisdownj totally right Lovren deal aswell as Shaw an Lallana deals started before the world cup. Be patient there is a long way to deadline day.

18.) 26 Jul 2014
Good post chrisdownj, I don't think for a second Saints fans will get on Koeman's back, it'll more about the board and the contradictory nature associated to all the sales, we are the selling club and it hurts.
There's lots of sentimental *rap being written on this site reflecting on where we were 5 years ago, I'm not one for looking backwards but looking forwards, if we are selling our better players, and we are, it's logic we won't attract the more desirable player/s. Also, I can only speak for myself, it would be unethical to speak for others but the lack of action and 'replacements' is not good for confidence

19.) 26 Jul 2014
Chrisdownj: you are right to some degree but selling chamvbers does not make sense in any way for our club.

Yest more players leaving and this must be unsettling to the remaining players.

If you are going to sell half your squad you need to be able to have deals done to bring players in quicker. we have done it with managers!

Remember adkins?? potch was basically on board before he had been given the boot!

If we sell players like chambers we are going down the wrong road and we are giving the wrong signal to our players, staff and the rest of the footballing world!

You say it takes time but this work should have been done in the backgroung already! if you sell players like chambers there better be a bloody good reason and a decent player ready to come in.

We as a club are looking vulnerable to the rest of the world right now.

Thanks reed!!

20.) 26 Jul 2014
Well I've just seen an interview of Koeman saying he new of Lallana, Lambert and Shaw sales but he said after that "we are not a selling club" and that he wanted to keep the rest of the players

21.) 26 Jul 2014
Saint Ben don't forget the incredible Cortese was at the helm then so nothings changed there. Just think RK will be more loyal than Poch, I think he (Poch) started all this within the club and hopefully he will get too big for his boots. Would not like to upset Daniel Levy, Oh nooo

22.) 26 Jul 2014
So the board are now ignoring the new manager's wishes - He'll get f-ed off and leave also, stating a lack of ambition. It makes no sense in selling Chambers at all and IMO we should have done more to keep others.

23.) 26 Jul 2014
In all the years I have supported Saints (60) I have never been so disgusted with the fans who are writing this trash about KL LR and RK. Remember 6 years ago -10pts in Div 1 and Bankrupt. Heading into oblivion.
We lost players like Surman, Dyer and goldrick for pennies. The amount the board has got for Lallana and Shaw exceeds the value of buying seriously good players. if we sell Lovren, Chambers, jrod and spider at the same level that is sensible good business - non of these players are Lionel messi. RK has been here a couple of weeks he is a proven great. He has built teams before and probably as he said can replace all outgoing with better incoming for less. Why don't you all reel your necks in and give the man the time he is asking for. I would be seriously embarrassed if he was reading the tripe on this site. We will finish top 10 and Katerina will have a big chunk of her fathers investment back. Last years transfers paid for and an academy to produce more talent to sell or use. COYR

24.) 26 Jul 2014
Redwhite: what a lack of ambition you show!

Selling players is fine but we have decimated our squad! Bloody open your eyes man!!

25.) 26 Jul 2014
3 players have gone at the moment. 2 have come in to replace them and it's likely one will be replace by another academy product who's rated higher that the one who left. Hardly decimating the squad is it? The others are just rumour at the moment. Open your eyes man!

26.) 26 Jul 2014
Seems to me RedWhite we are in the minority however when this is all sorted in a couple of weeks the doom and gloom merchants will be ecstatic with our new team. For God's sake give the board and KL some credit, they are not selling the players. The players are forcing moves probably thinking they are better than they are and may be in for a bit of a shock if they don't cut it at their new clubs.

27.) 26 Jul 2014
I agree, redwhite what are u going on about? Yeah a brilliant academy that's producing, that we're selling now even before tgey get a run in first team, total LACK OF AMBITION that sends out a great message to future players, we will go down then without epl funding how do u expect us to generate the funds to continue the academy etc, u my friend are as deluded as les reed, it is very obvious what is happening, yes cortese was a ruthless aragant, self important person who was taking the piss but markus trusted him and this wouldn't of happened, 120m in transfer fees plus 80m from sky to be reinvested plus the so called '50m' mopo was alleged to been offered before sales, and all we've got to show is a couple of roko contacts, brilliant scouting system that

28.) 26 Jul 2014
I'm not saying I'm not annoyed, but it's not entirely the board's fault. The club can't force players such as Lallana and lovren to play, and if they're saying they won't play, the board have done the best thing and sold/are selling them for top prices. Luke Shaw was always going to go, and again the board managed to get almost 30 million for him, an 18 year old full back, that pushes up a lot and has not scored a goal and provided only one (I think) assists in the league, for that, they got a hell of a lot of money. As for lambert, I think we all agree that we're happy for him

The rest are just rumours at the moment. They're nothing concrete and there have been no statements. I know it's unsettling, but there's no point in jumping ship before anything concrete about players such as spider, j-rod and chambers actually comes out. It's all just paper talk at the moment, and the paper's, especially the ones like the daily mirror, just look for a good story, not necessarily a true one. Also it's still 3 weeks until the league starts, and Koeman says we're close to some signings, of some decent players. Have a little faith in the club you support and give them time, I'm sure it'll be alright by the start of the season.

I haven't posted on here before, but I do read it to see the rumours, and I thought I'd post this because I feel it's a bit embarrassing how some fans are reacting and I know this won't make any difference to you narrow minded people who only see gloom, but we should really have some faith in the team we support and give them time.

29.) 26 Jul 2014
Some real rubbish being posted here.

The Board can't stop players wanting to leave.

Nor can the Board force players to sign for Southampton.

30.) 26 Jul 2014
Oh my God!! It's a conspiracy.
Seriously guys, get a grip. Les Reed and Ralph Krueger did not lie to anyone.
Reading an interview with Alan Pardew, he said Saints are a victim of not qualifying for Europe. I personally can't stand the bloke, but I have to begrudgingly agree with him to some extent. We were always going to lose players this season. If Reed was lying to us, he would not have came out in an interview and said the things he said. Surely, if he had something to hide, he would have said sod all.
Get off the boards back. This is the best board we have had since the 80's. Judge them after the transfer window closes. Until then, please give the board a break.

31.) 26 Jul 2014
StirlingSaint: good post.
Fans should be banned from saying "lack of ambition" - it's a meaningless phrase used by fans to demand endless spending.
Players can't be forced to stay and players can't be forced to sign

32.) 27 Jul 2014
Chrisdownj: this the reason Poch left!! open your eyes guys!! Poch left because we were always going to sell the squad off!

I worry about the people in charge and where we are going to end up. Reed said to the media we will not sell the squad and we will add. A load of rubbish and lies.

Poch was told this would happen and that is why he went to spuds.

If we don't reinvest the money into the first team it could be a horrible season ahead

33.) 27 Jul 2014
You may be right but you don't really know anything about the real reason he left. None of us do, we are just guessing.
