Sevilla In Advanced Talks With Southampton Over Gaston Ramirez Loan? Mmmmmmmmm!

1.) 27 Aug 2014
I should hope not. the position we are in we need him to have a good season.

2.) 27 Aug 2014
Looks like it will happen!

3.) 27 Aug 2014
I hope not, would like to keep him at the club and give him a run of games this season, if he doesn't perform this year though I'd say that's his last chance over but I still think he could be amazing for us!

4.) 27 Aug 2014
So that'll be him and Osvaldo, bought at great expense, turned out to be total flops that they can't resell. Well played "transfer committee".

He always promises much, Ramirez, but has barely delivered anything in two years, is constantly picking up niggling injuries or just plainly lacking in fitness, so Saints have a decision to make. If they loan him to Spain, say, and he has a good season, his flagging reputation as a bright young talent should be rebuilt a bit and they might well find a buyer as a result.

If they keep him and he has another hopelessly ineffective season, they'll struggle to offload him next summer, going into the final year of his contract, and could potentially end up taking a massive hit on the £12m they flushed down the drain on him.

I'd love him to make the grade at Saints - he has bags of ability. But I just don't see him and the PL as a good match. He's too slow and lazy. And injured. A lot.

That said, Saints are desperately weak in the attacking midfield/wing positions, so they'd be mad to let him go unless they've got one or two new options lined up.

Could see this happening a mile off. Where would he fit into saints team? Spider, jwp, Davis, wanyama, cork all ahead of him in the pecking order.

6.) 27 Aug 2014
Completely different type of player to all of those. to let him go before we have another winger in would be madness. looks like we are set to miss out on alderweild. seems arsenal bound.

7.) 27 Aug 2014
Looks like we are building a strong solid side that struggle to score goals. sorry to state the obvious lads. we all know what sort of players are needed, let's hope they land some pace in the next few days. terry paine would do!

8.) 27 Aug 2014
How can we miss out on a player if we weren't necessarily going for him in the first place? No club official or ITK has yet to confirm if Alderweireld is a definite target. It's not worth jumping the gun on players who were never destined to come to the club anyway.

9.) 27 Aug 2014
Ramirez to Seville on a season loan with an option to buy for just 6m Euros.

Ouch.

10.) 27 Aug 2014
So Pelle has two games and people get on his back Ramirez has two bad seasons and people still think he has something to offer?

11.) 27 Aug 2014
For a player. No one really rated he has the same if not better assist and goal rate than lallana did for mins on the pitch he would be excellent if he had constant games. But the last two manager's didn't give him game time

12.) 28 Aug 2014
This would make no sense to me, we need depth so why would we give players away for free? If its his value saints are worried about, they could just play him!?

13.) 28 Aug 2014
@ Saint Gibbs, with a current formation of 4-3-3 ( haven't seen anything different yet apart from maybe 4-5-1)
We have 3 central midfield players. Jwp and Davis have both played in attacking positions ahead of ramirez. Usually wanyama davis spider, tadic jwp pelle. Cork, isgrove, taider, on bench. Taider has even had time in the development squad, something I believe ramirez hasn't.

Although I would have liked to see ramires in a wide position, I haven't seen him play in a saints or Uruguay shirt on the flanks. Obviously something is not quite right in training. Let's hope this signals a player incoming that koeman likes

Seems that Cortese was throwing away somebody else's money like confetti so no wonder it had to be stopped. Gaston Ramirez to me is a potentially great player with skills to burn but unfortunately our style of play doesn't suit these skills. I don't see the reason why we should get rid of him as to me he is or (could be if given a proper run in the side) a " game changer " which let's face it teams need when Plan A is not working. We saw a glimpse the other night that he could be good for Pelle as Gaston reads the game better than most. I think we have a team at the moment with a lot of huff and puff but if we want to get to the top of this very high quality league you have to have players like GR in your squad at least and change your style to suit certain games. I personally will be upset if we let him go. I am sure if the club move him on he would show his skills to his new club and we as fans will be left wondering why when we have paid out stupid money for Shane Long. I know Long is a good player and will give us a different option but there is no substitute for skill and if coached properly Gaston can and probably will turn out to be the player most of us fans believe he is. He is very professional and let's face it he didn't jump on the exodus bus with the other prima donnas. Might be that he was on more money than them and that may have sparked the problem with the others wanting at least the same. GR was signed by Cortese and he gave him the contract and that is not Gaston's problem it is the clubs. Finally we must not sell our best players and he is one of them.

15.) 28 Aug 2014
I don't think we have seen anywhere near enough of him to call him one of our best players. cortese couldn't have been throwing the money around that much! last year did we not post a debt of 27m nearly all of which was oustanding transfer payments? that's perfectly normal and for the PL very respectable. the press made a big deal out of us being 27m in debt and needing to sell shaw as a result. correct me if i'm wrong. I won't cry and dislike all future posts.

16.) 28 Aug 2014
Throwing money around like confetti, but we can pay 12m for long. I think cortese would have run a better ship than les reed any day

17.) 28 Aug 2014

Perhaps Gaston will be moved out to allow another player to be brought in who can play wide or in the hole eg. Cerci? We obviously need a player who can play that role but Gaston really has not shown he can do that on a regular basis.
But then, I'm only giving the half full suggestion and the majority probably still want to stay with the half empty philosophy. If so fine, but please stop comparing Gaston and Shane-they are completely different players and there is no way Shane was bought to replace Gaston.

18.) 28 Aug 2014
Who compared shane to gaston?? since 2 people disagree about the 27m debt would you like to correct me? the point about long was regarding the cortese throwing money around like confetti.

19.) 28 Aug 2014
Ok so I have spoke to mr heinz.

20m appx left in outstanding transfers.

7.1m net loss for our first season back, last season won't be totalled till march. It will however definitely be a positve figure.

30m was the original marchwood training ground cost but it came in over 50m which is the major reason for the relationship break down with cortese. which is the contractors fault.

KL and Ralph are balancing the books which is why sales were permitted.

they kept quiet about the amount of debt run up from marchwood and justifying cortese being made to walk because of the level of debt to ensure we got the best prices for our players and not appear in desperate need of selling.

MoPo was informed players would be sold to balance and stabilise. He was not happy and wanted to stay with the squad but after finding out their intentions decided to walk.

All in all I don't think anyone can really be blamed for the over run of marchwood other than the contractor.

Nor can I now really blame KL for wanting to balance everything. Little did I know we were close to 100m in the red.

We are in talks with Celtic again for van dijk for a fee of around 8m.

20.) 28 Aug 2014
The only reason I compared long to ramirez. Is the price we paid is the same but in my view long ain't worth wot gaston is yet were sending him out on lone with option to buy for 6mil and I wonder why Madrid won't gaston and not long?

If you take a look through this section or the banter section you will see a number of comments regarding Long V Ramirez.

Anyway, RoKo has said Gaston will stay. If he does and shows consistent performance, that's great, but I have my doubts.

22.) 28 Aug 2014
The fee to buy is a reported measly £4.8m!! italian league players very very rarely cut it in the prem!

23.) 28 Aug 2014
If he goes there ain't nothing we as fans can do.
But I see a post above saying wanyama jwp and Davis are ahead of him but in truth why. Why would u put wanyama and jwp ahead of him Davis Yeh cause he always gives a good effort but at this moment I would not put wanyama and jwp in the attack part of our midfield. They don't have the same pace or movement or attacking flair

24.) 28 Aug 2014
And sorry for going on but I can clearly remember when we first got gaston. Adkins said that in training gaston was doing remarkable things and that was while lallana was there and I also heard that lallana and Co wasn't happy. A new threat was about shows how confident last lot of hero's were they struggled to welcome new class players oh wait a minute if gaston plays well there ain't a need for lallana we best make it hard for him to fit in

25.) 28 Aug 2014
The only thing that matters is he isn't a managers favourite. They see him train every day, none of us do.

26.) 28 Aug 2014
Koemen himself said gaston has had a difficult preseason so hasn't had a proper chance to show what he offers and last season was the same he was clean through on goal and got fouled from behind by wes brown and ref only give a yellow then lovren fell over kicked out and injured himself

27.) 28 Aug 2014
They also see jack cork train every day. yet when he is on the pitch he never puts a foot wrong.

For the love of god would you fans please take in the following: Building projects are governed by CONTRACTS which have clauses in them guaranteeing price, stage payments and penalties for late delivery.Stop trying to maintain that the ground was over budget, that somehow Cortese allowed the project price to nearly double ITS ALL A LOAD OF BULL.

montecristosaint-what a load of BS!

The development at Staplewood obviously had a budget set when it was planned BUT along the way there were many adjustments to the initial plans and of course the initial budget and contract was then varied. This was not all due to NC, I understand KL also had an input to INCREASE the scope of the facilities-and therefore the cost. I suspect NC is correct in saying expenditure did not exceed the budget but this did NOT refer to the starting budget.
Always happens with such developments so we should not be surprised, but the final development is much different and better than initially planned so any initial contracts would simply be up-dated.
