Bild: Southampton will pay £11.2m to buy Leon Goretzka from Schalke

Any thoughts on this Rumour? Cheers

My first thought on this was maybe Goretzka is the special player Reed and Koeman have both ominously referred to in recent interviews.

Highly rated in Germany, but has had his fair share of injury problems in the last two seasons which could be why Saints think there might be a deal to be had. It's also been suggested we had a scout at Schalke's game against Twente yesterday, no idea how much of the game he played.

It could always be a smokescreen if we are trying to push through a deal for a yet unnamed target.

Schalke manager has made an early move to shoot this down, has said they have no intention of selling Goretzka.

Also the notion that we would sell JWP is hilarious - not a chance

I don't think there is any chance Goretzka will be leaving Schalke this summer. He still has a contract until 2018 and had many problems with injuries last season. I assume he wants to have a season without severe injuries to progress before he leaves Schalke. And if he develops the way he is expected to, his won't be Saints but rather clubs like Bayern Munich, Chelsea and so on.
So anyway; great player but I don't see any chance for him heading to Saints. We should rather look at prospects like Praet who's in my opinion much more likely to come to Southampton.

Properly good signing if true, supposedly one of the next German superstars, can play defensive MF, centre MF and out on the wings

Prowsey won't be going anywhere, unlike the other lot who long term contracts mean nothing to, he seems pretty loyal. Don't forget he broke his foot last season, that would have held him back a bit, takes a while to get mentally ready after that too. Time for everyone to ease up on the lad a bit. You're slating him now but you'll be the first in the queue to kiss his ass when he plays well (just like Mane)

Defo will NOT happen, but he will be a class player in the future. If it would happen Shalke wouldn't let him leave on a permanent transfer, wouldn't be surprised if a deal similar to Toby's was written up.

Saint_Ben we have a lot of players that can play centre mid victor,Davis,Clasie,ward-prowse and then going to spend another 11mill on a centre mid something has to give just remember what happened to chambers

our only premier league quality dms are clasie and vic. Also he won't be sold, especially after they already sold draxler.

They didn't sell Draxler, but I agree that it's very, very unlikely that they would sell Goretzka this summer. And even if I really doubt Saints would have a chance of getting him.
