These Fonte to Manchester United rumours seem to be gathering pace. As he didn't make it onto the pitch this weekend against Watford, I could actually see this move happening (how many times in the past has a player on the verge of a move not made it into the squad - especially when they're not seemingly injured) .

Also, now seeing rumours about Koeman being after Charlie Austin. I'd like to see CA being given a chance, but maybe Claude Puel has already decided that he's surplus to requirements, and can't see a place for him in the team. One things for sure, it'll be an exciting final few weeks of the transfer window! Scream if you want to go faster!?

Exciting? what more players leaving. I don't find it at all exciting. Apparently Fonte changed his agent to guess who, Jorge Mendes, Mourinho's agent! wonder what will happen now.

We should not be selling anymore of the squad end of! We should still be strengthening in my eyes.

I would love to see Fonte stay, but if his head has been turned, the club may see this as an opportunity to get the most they can for an aging player and build for the future. If they can unearth another VVD type gem from across Europe we could end up being the winners here.

I hate the fact that we're still discussing what the squad should look like now the season has actually started, but unfortunately situations like 'a club wanting our player' is not something we can control, so we just need to make the best of the situation - No player is bigger than the club, everyone is replaceable.

This is not just any player, this is the club captain. Sends out the wrong message to the whole squad, to potential new signings that players can do what they want at Southampton the stepping stone club.

And as you have said we are into the new season, this will be so disruptive, but I guess this is the new model of our club. I just wish it wasn't.

To be fair to the club I would imagine they don't want to sell Fonte but like you said when your head is turned its very difficult. He has only recently signed a 3 year contract though!

9mil for Fonte is a steal. Even if he is 32. His Euro Stats show how good he is. Think we should try and at least get 15mil for him. He's experienced, proven as one of the most consistent players in the Prem. And we know Man United have the money and Mourhino wants. So the board needs to make Utd pay up.
