Haller to Southampton is looking likely for a fee around 8 million. Newcastle were close to agreeing a deal however the player himself was stalling for a premier league switch. Deal should be complete by midday tomorrow ✌️.

Just searched on this guy Haller and was surprised to see the amount of clubs interested, including Everton! . so if we pull this off, that is a definite statement that our reputation is growing.
Come on You Reds!

Really like the look of this guy, don't think he would be the impact 15+ goals striker everyone says we need for this season. But definate promising star for the future.

Boufal CAN play as a striker but he isn't an out and out striker. He's very short and wouldn't be first choice as a target man or to hold the ball up. I expect we would likely be playing Austin with long off his shoulder and boufal in a three up front or an AMC (with an arrow going forward) like in champ man. He will be used as a playmaker in midfield I would think. We only have 2 tall target men up front to play with Long, so a new striker like Haller gives us options. Remember we are in 4 major cup competitions this season. Prem, FA, League cup and Europa League.

Ed in someone has to leave.

{Ed001's Note - why? You sold Pelle and added Boufal. Redmond plays a different position, and was brought in to replace Mane. The squad is still very compact, there is no need to offload anyone.}

Ed is right, this isn't like last season because now we're playing with 2 strikers up top instead of one. We need more depth, because if Redmond or anyone gets injured and Austin's fitness is as shakey as it has been as of late then who steps in? Gallagher? With European football and the league to contend with we need another top end striker to compliment the others for rotation and fitness.

Sébastien Haller would be my absolute first choice in the department; as for the rest of the squad, I'd like to see Kieran Trippier on loan or maybe Wesley Hoedt of Lazio joining on a permanent to give us assurance of depth with regards to Gardos' injury.
