Fonte's dad has been saying that Puel won't play him against Liverpool. Jose wants to play and is a professional blah blah blah but it's Puel decision to leave him out.

So what? Why would you want to play a player that doesn't want to be at the club.

Fonte is trying to slant everything to make it look like he is being forced to move he's been acting like a spoilt prima dona all season. I don't see a big que of clubs clamoring for his signature maybe he's worring that no one wants him and he might miss out on a glory trip to Wembley.

I agree. He's been immense for us but as soon as he (or Les) states he wants out, we should play players who want to be here. If he's still here when the window closes, then I would bring him back in if he warrants it in training.

I didn't know what to think about him, I actually initially felt a bit gutted for him but after reading le tiss tweet saying how unprofessional he has been behaving it makes me wonder what's what.

To be honest, I hope he goes during the window. I really do believe he is a quality player, but his attitude towards this january transfer window is not what southampton need.

Palace want him. don't think he saw himself moving to a relegation battle after he won the Euros.

Fonte has helped Saints get from Div 1 to EPL and deserved a move last summer. That buffoon Reed said no, despite letting all those Turncoats swan off wherever they wanted, whenever thay wanted. Reed has treated him in the most shabby way and should be sacked for incompetence. Fonte has every right to be fed up with Reed's attitude.

Totally agree Larry, I don't think Jose buys in to the new Puel style of football . To put it in other words he sees the club stagnating and going backwards . To me Fonte is a true professional and has given 110% as a player for many seasons. I personally wouldn't say a bad word about him.

Larry and chris wake up you say fonte was prevented from moving in the summer well that's not true is it the real truth is that NOBODY put a bid in for him and contary to what st. José tried to lie about was was offered a large pay rise £80,000 a week our highest earner and dispite what he lied about again he was offered an extra years extention so how have saints let fonte down. Also he has to adapt to any style we ask him to play poch had his style ko man had his and he adapted to those styles it's just that he thinks he's a world class player which he is not so I say again bye bye fonte many thanks

I'm probably in the minority here but in my view Fonte signed a contract with us. He was clearly happy when he signed it or he wouldn't have signed. To say he deserved a move half way through his contract is absolute nonsense. In the same way if a player doesn't perform well the club can't rip up that contract either.
Yes he has history with us and that's why he has continued to be offered employment at the club. But he is old, and would I think be 35 if he saw out his contract with us, and hoping for retirement payday move.
See out your contract Jose then go and earn 300k a week in China for a year!

Maybe Puel is finally showing some cojones?

As mentioned above, no one actually bid for him in the summer. Jose was up to his old tricks again by not actually answering a question with a straight answer regarding the reported interest in the player which gave the media an opportunity to go into overdrive and write all sorts. I like Fonte, I really do, but one thing that I massively disagree with in the modern game is players agents coming out and saying that players have slapped in a transfer request, this massively de values the player and stitches the club right up. He will be here now until the last day of the window and then leave for a pittance as a result. That's a shame considering what he has done for the club, but more so what the club has done for him. I wonder if he didn't come to join the Southampton revolution that he wouldn't have a Euro 2016 winners medal as I don't believe he would have made the Portugal team.
