Hi eds,

Are you aware of southamptons targets for an attacking player? We have been linked with p. roberts and vietto etc. but again it is still very silent are we likely to sign a striker after selling Jay Rodriguez and loaning Gallagher? Or are we happy with our current options (we would struggle if one of Austin or Gabbi got injured) .

{Ed002's Note - Perhaps Loic Remy from Chelsea.}

I bloody hope not ed.

{Ed002's Note - I would not rule him out.}

Is that legitimate interest? We seem to be linked with him every window over the last few seasons but nothing ever materialises so always presumed it was media speculation.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, there is some interest.}

Hi eds

How many rights backs do we actually have. I think we should bring in one more last year we were linked with Trippier but we're not going to get him now unless we put in a crazy offer ( we don't usual do that) please saints bring in one more.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea but others will.}

2 right backs. Cedric, and Jeremy pied. There ham valery in the youth set up too. Jason McCarthy was sold this summer. Cuco Martina released and went to everton.

Ham Valery?! He looks an awesome prospect. Don't think we need any more RBs.

Not keen on Remy and hope it doesn't happen. Seems the wrong age for us anyway? I can't see us spending big money on anyone over 26ish. Would much prefer Benteke for example. There's just not a supply of quality strikers out there, but personally think we'll still add a striker over the next 8 days. Excited to see who it will be.

I think we have the strongest squad we've had for ages. Really happy with the club's business this summer. If VVD stays, that starting back four has to be one the best in the league! And we'd only have to play one DM to protect it, a luxury Puel didn't have.

Bloody auto correct! I hate my phone lol

Agree with your post WS. I'm not keen on remy. surely he'd be coming pretty cheap? . Still not keen on him though. Benteke would cost mental money and he's not exactly done much over the last couple of years to warrant that kind of outlay.

I may get shot down here. but what about Walcott?

Honestly don't think he's much better than the 16 year old who left us. Far too inconsistent. And still can't cross the ball, a really odd trait for wingers these days! And he's definitely not a striker. I'd like to have seen us go for Demarai Gray in that area but looks like he's been persuaded to stay at Leicster for now.

Just a striker for me. Someone on here mentioned Dzeko who would be perfect, but not realistic. Hope the club pull another blinder from leftfield like Hoedt.

Costa on a three month loan would do me but it would never happen.

Should never of loaned out the lad to Yeovil olufelo full of confidence and will only get better 3 in 3 for them and looked good in u23's we are known for developing but loans seem are way forward now.
Look at Korean at Everton playing all the kids are they better than ours or just getting the chances.

What are you on about 0001. He's gone on loan to get experience of MENS football and toughen up a little. Playing in league 1 or 2 is a million miles away from scoring in the prem. but also better than playing with the under 23's. You're right, he probably is full of confidence now and hopefully has a good season. That experience will do him better than reserve team football or being sat on the bench. Half our fans murder our young players like targett and ward-prowse, so better he gains confidence at that level rather than walking out at st. Mary's and hearing "he's shit! He's not good enough! " And killing his confidence before he even starts!

All the players we developed such as ox, lallana, shneiderlin were developed in league 1 and championship, remember?! Didn't do then too badly did it?

Saints0001, whilst I agree with Milky that he is better to learn in league 2 - my mate is a Yeovil supporter, been to every game this season and says that he is very promising. Yes he has scored 3 goals, but he said the movement to always be in the right place is impressive. he said that he wouldn't look out of place in the championship.

He was in the bench and came on in the europa league last year so we clearly held that comp in contempt. I would back him to finish ahead of SL any day he is lightening quick strong as an ox and shoots and scores from anywhere. Don't see Calvert lewi and davies at Everton on loan or rashford. Yes he may get game time but if sooner he was our plan b wide man or striker than the 30 year old options we have.

And like I said, what happens when he doesn't have a good game and a number of our very fickle and not very supportive fans get on his case and destroy his confidence before he's even started?

Likewise you don't see all our youth products go out on loan, if they're good enough they'll go straight through to the first team. I. e JWP, Shaw, Chambers, Targett. But then McQueen and Stephens have come into the team after loans. I'd say we're managing it well tbh.
