Maddison prefers move to the south coast instead of Leicester. Any truth in this, Eds? Please tell me we will sign him!

{Ed001's Note - sorry I don't know what he favours. I do know one person who has advised him that Saints would be a better choice for him right now. Whether he will listen to that advice or not I have no idea.}

Thanks, Eds! Let's hope for the best! But it seems are pretty much trying to sign him, right? Also rumours that we are still after Paco Alcacer. Any truth in this? Alcacer, Gabbi and Chazza would give us amazing firepower up front! How about Carrillo's situation? Are we trying to offload him?

{Ed001's Note - Paco Alcacer is someone Hughes really wants but the lad is not sure he wants to leave. Barca are looking for either a loan or a buyback clause if he does decide to go. He also does want Maddison, however it is Tadic and Boufal that are under more threat for a place than Carrillo. Having said that, I doubt Saints would turn away any interested parties that come in for him.}

Thanks, Eds. I personally don't mind Boufal leaving. If we could get Maddison, then not that tragedic to loose Tadic. Is McCarthy going to sign a new deal? Jullien in wish list as well?

{Ed001's Note - I don't know whether McCarthy will sign one but the club certainly want him to. I would assume he will, there is a pay rise on offer to him.

I don't know anything with regards to Jullien sorry.}

If he prefers Leicester that is quite shocking however sky have him 1/ 3 so seems a done deal we would prob build around him and plan for a few seasons also great statement if we could get him.

{Ed001's Note - why would it be shocking? They pay higher wages, they have recent league success to point to and they are more ambitious with their aims than Southampton. I could fully understand why any player would choose them, even though I would think it to be a mistake in his position and would personally also advise him to choose Southampton, in the unlikely event he asked my advice.}

Maddison is from the midlands. All the indications are that he would prefer a move to Leicester but his advisors are waiting to see if Everton make a bid.
Agree with the Ed: he would be better off at Southampton.

Hardly have a record if bringing players on look at gray and ihenacho play bit part fans want the manager out due to negative football. So would imagine not him bringing players in. New manager may not be convinced if they change and don’t see where he fits in their style as largely counter attach with one pass to strikers who use pace still I may be wrong often am. I would fancy ya to finish above them next season if puel stays.

To me it's already mid June! Pre-season starts within 2 weeks! And we are 5-6 players short! We'd need a commanding CB, a creative AMC, a pacy winger or two, a proven goal scorer and if Bertrand and/ or Cedric goes, also wing back or two.

I've tried to chill out for several transfer windows now. I was sure back in January 2017 that we will replace Fonte. No, we didn't. Last summer we tried to with Hoedt, but we didn't replace VVD. And we didn't in January 2018 either, which almost costed us a PL status. We have been crying out for a creative AMC for years now. No, Boufal is not the answer. Maddison would have been a perfect fit to us to me, but of course we missed out. Hopefully they will find another target, but I am not going to lie to myself anymore. I believe that when this transfer window is closed, we still haven't signed a CB or an AMC. Anything else would be a pleasant surprise!

Mate, it's just Maddison. It's not like we missed out on a proven international player who's performed consistently in the league. There are other players too. I'm gutted we missed out as well but your reaction is like we failed to sign Isco on deadline day. Calm down, it's still a long summer ahead.

Bringing quality in during a World Cup is difficult due to hyped up prices for average players. We have to balance the books with ins and outgoing transfers, doesn’t help when you commit 34 million quid including wages etc on a poor player!

I think 4 players is what we need, central midfield is strong and will only get better as Lemina and Højbjerg improve. An organiser in central defence . a more defensive minded (also attacking) wide man ( if we need to change the following system) . and possibly a more creative midfielder to back up Tadic (who in my mind should be playing centrally behind front TWO with Lemina and Højbjerg as a more defensive central two so 5-2-1-2 wing backs giving width when going forward 5-3-2 when without ball.

Competition for Cedric to keep him on his toes :) Shame Jérémy Pied was let go, I think there was more to come from him, never saw the Best of him. Injuries however!
