According to today's news we have made official bid to sign Danny Ings! 💪💪💪 Any truth in this, Eds?

{Ed001's Note - I don't know about any bid, but they very rarely happen these days so you can ignore the term really. Certainly Saints are amongst a number of clubs who have enquired and been given a number if they want to sign him. No idea or interest in talking finances or what the numbers are, but I was told Southampton are one of a number who have not been put off by the amount and it will be down to Danny himself to choose between the teams interested. He would have, out of choice, preferred to stay in the north-west, but that looks unlikely, with Bournemouth and Soton two of the main interested parties, but I wouldn't rule out a return to Burnley because of their location. They also have European football and Sean Dyche to make up for their lower wages. There is also Newcastle and Fulham to consider.}

Why would he want to stay in north west? His family are from Winchester he has friends in Southampton he is a Southerner so why do you think he is so enamoured with the North West? He will go where they pay him the best money.
Mike southampton.

{Ed001's Note - because he has lived and settled down there over the last few years playing for Burnley and Liverpool I presume. How on earth would I know why he prefers the area? If it was all about money to him, he could have gone for a lot more money than Liverpool's offer. The lad is happy with what he has monetarily, it is about his career and personal happiness for him. He joined Liverpool to achieve a dream, and now it has not worked out, he just wants to go and play footie. It is not about who pays him the most, it is about first team football or he would be staying put and earning double the salary at Liverpool that he would get at any of the teams interested in him. Perhaps you should not make judgements on people you clearly do not know at all.}

DIngs is from the southampton local area, supported Southampton as a boy, and probably (probably) therefore still supports Southampton now. He’ll sign.

Hopefully!

Also, I’m pretty happy with the other signings made so far this summer - Angus Gunn (tick), Jannik Vestergaard, Stuart Armstrong, (this is will be a challenege for both predictive text and spell-check. ) Mohamed Elyounoussi - all good quality, could prove to be good value for money signings and longer term as well as there here and now. Looking good for the new season ahead. To be lucky enough to sign Danny Ings to that would really top it off. Positive

Also, finally while I’m here and talking football - I’ve got to say a big congratulations to Gareth Southgate and his England squad. National pride restored, and has actively connected us all with the Three Lions again

It’s Home

All the best everyone

Saint Etienne.

Lallana was/ is supposedly an Everton fan, grew up around the south coast and still wanted to go to liverpoo. Plenty of players have played for rivals of who they supposedly support.

This country's not very big, it takes a relatively small amount of time to get from one end of the country to the other, I highly doubt proximity to family/ friends plays a part in where a player chooses to play

This logic of "oh they're from such and such a place, they support such and such a team, they'll go there" is silly.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love for Ings to sign, but he's going to go where he gets the most of what's important to him, whether that's game time, money, Euro football, sentimentality, whatever.

{Ed001's Note - it is game time he is after.}

Adam Blackmore has tweeted saying just whispers and no truth behind Saints and Ings.

Not a great signing anyway if it was to be true.
