Samuel Eto rumoured to be available for £5m and is prepared to leave a pay cut.

Hi, OP here,

He'd definitely be quite cheap. He's 32 years old and Anzhi are desperate to sell as the look to slash their wage bill by 60%.

Newcastle are interested and the quoted fee required is reportedly in the £5m region. I'd imagine the biggest stumbling block would be wages. He's on about £200k /week at the moment! So he'd have to be prepared to take a massive pay cut (on the plus side, very few clubs would want to pay those wages, so he will have to take a substantial pay cut (60%) if he does want to move). That's why his fee is so cheap, add on a couple million in wages for a 3 year contract to get the true cost of the transfer.

He is on £350,000 a week. Our top earner is "reportedly" Ramirez on £50,000.

I think losing £300k a week is more than a cut. Wont happen sadly.

He's not on £350k a week you cracker! He's on £200k/week.

I agree with you, it would be a stretch. But worth factoring that even if he's paid a high wage, this will be off-set somewhat by his low transfer fee.

60% pay cut = 80k a week still, seems like a lot but worth it to have Etto playing for us

{Ed001's Note - he is actually the world's highest paid player on about £350k a week. So a 60% paycut would still be 140k a week. I don't know where that nonsense about him being on 200k came from, Rooney is on more than that at United.}
