Evening gents. Here's a debate; Would you be happy if Southampton signed Chris Smalling?

I'm just going to say now, their is no rumour, just after listening to a Gary Neville debate on 5 Live it got me wondering - would we take him?

No thanks not good enough cb hence why he's been shuffled out wide and no good there either, would b worth cover if free but i'd imagine a fee of prob 6-8m would b on his head

In short. No

We're starting to look reasonably adept at the back. With cover as well.
Gardos looked confident on Saturday, Alderweireld looked supreme last week and Fonte looks determined. Yoshida is a great back up so . No thanks!
If the chance arrives, then we can also blood new youngsters although its disappointing to see that the U18's and U21's haven't had the best of starts this year.
I do hope we have even younger talent in the wings at youth level!

Yes i noticed the U18s and the U21s have had a poor run of games - they are getting goals but letting too many in - either play the defensive youngsters in the league cup to gain them experience, or work on the defence more.

Oddly our senior defence seems very solid this season - maybe the senior team can teach the youngsters.
