Saints success is built on teamwork, not individuals, a point proven by the lack of success of Shaw, Llalana, Lovren, Chambers etc.

Money will always tempt players to leave, if money means more than playing ambition. I just cannot see Clyne being successful at LFC but he didn't want to stay at SFC so its great business sense to get the most for him. Same applies to any other player.

If you have a good scouting team and, good management and team coach, which SFC have, we will continue to be successful.

The best clubs have players that want to commit to that team eg Gerrard in his hey days. Expect SFC to again be successful in 2015/16!

Great post gtsaint! It's a shame that some players can't be ambitious for more long term achievements, but football is a short career. Nowadays the majority of players foremost thought is where can I earn the biggest wage, and that's at the big clubs. There's no doubt had Clyne had an offer from United as well he would of picked them over Liverpool.

It's also built on a system that protects the back four, hence, I think, the mediocrity, (being kind) of the defenders who left us last summer.

There seems to be a misconception that Shaw played poorly last season, it's simply not true. When he played he played well, he just struggled with injury.
