Does anyone here have any french connections of anyone who regularly watches Ligue 1 so that we can actually know just what kind of player we got here? Admittedly I don't know much about him but I'm not going to take any word from our know it all "fans" who says he's uninspiring even though they haven't watched a single minute of Ligue 1 match and just went watching youtube highlights and videos, or worse wouldn't even bother to know him better and already slagging him off even before the ink on the paper dries.
And finally, where does this leave martina? Any chance he'll be leaving this season?

Leave it to our manager. He knows this player very well and is a very useful addition and on a free as well. Lot of people slagged Cedric off and look at him now. I think that Martina will stay for now. More competition the better. Plus with extra games this season looking like a strong squad. I still hope another striker is brought in - this would be the icing on the cake. We March On.

From previous stories cuco is possibly leaving as he's in his last year now. Pied is a versatile defender that plays on the right side of defence and midfield. Bit of a jack of all trades master of non, but a wealth of experience in Europa and hard working on the training ground. Expect him to push cedric but ultimately used as cover with all the games we have coming up.

Agreed welshgirl. Striker should be the final piece of the puzzle. I would like to see another winger in as well but since we signed pied I guess we already have 3 in him tadic and redmond. Jay and long can also play out wide so I guess that's already covered. Central midfield is already packed, fullbacks and gk has solid cover as well now. Another striker and the squad should have enough depth up front as well. I'm still hopeful of a new cb coming in though.

I'd like another attacking threat whether a winger/ no.10/ striker and a centre back! Yoshida is not good enough at this level and gardos' seems to have on going injury problems and not really been able to show if he is up to standard. Other than that we look good. Just need to hit the ground running.

According to WhoScored, he was the 20th best player in Ligue 1 last season. Stats aren't the be all end all for knowing how good a player is, however he's clearly someone Puel trusts to do a decent job for us when called upon.
