I haven't posted for a while. I have sat back, watched, digested, analysed the team and manager. I couldn't really put my finger on what was wrong with Puel's thinking.
Yes he is dull, repetitive, shows little emotion . but all those traits are acceptable if we play exciting, attractive, positive football!
Having watched the West Brom game, I realise he just doesn't get Premiership football . he doesn't get it one bit. For the umpteenth time he has complained that WBA scored from their first opportunity, rarely threatened. Sorry Mr Puel, that is exactly what the Premiership is about; even the worst team has the ability to score a goal from nothing, against the run of play.

As for his rotation. does he not get it? Shane Long, Ryan B . Cedric . Hojbjerg . Prowsey . Clasie . Davis . and so on . have all played their best football when getting game time! and today, six changes! and you wonder why Saints are playing the most disjointed, uninspiring football I can remember. I hate to say it, but you just don't understand the Premiership . our players . our system . and the way we play. Mr Puel . goodbye.

I still think we should give him time.

In the thirty odd years of watching saints I never thought I would be disappointed with being mid table on New Year's Day but we are playing some of the worst football I can remember luckily I think there might be three worst teams than us, come on les do the right thing and stop this silly mid table continental syle football this is the premier league.

Three games in six days definitely contributed to a dull last half of the West brom game. Plus a very soft red card vs spurs. Puel is a good manager I think. He realises to be competitive across a season in three and a half competitions we must rotate or you end up with your top 4 or 5 players all knackered or injured. His key signing boufal looks decent, his defense utility got an unfortunate injury. Give him a chance. Just because we have lost two matches doesn't mean we have to change the manager. Let's not turn into arsenal fans please.

Love the rose tinted glasses they hadn't played for ten days before spuds that selection against wba was dissing the opposition pulis must have pinned our team sheet on the dressing room wall and said come on lads they don't rate us although were right up their asses in the league.

Of course I have rose tinted specs - I am a Saints fan - I don't expect to win every week, and look at every performance (well most) in a positive way - otherwise following football would be a depressing experience - or I should just switch teams and support chelsea one season and manu the next like the 8 year old boys do in our football team.

Wake up and smell the coffee we can't rely on other teams being worse.

This is a good discussion
Firstly, Happy New Year to ALL Saints fans

IMO I think Puel is an average manager at best.
It is clear that we need to buy a proven goal scorer
along with replacing players that have been sold previously
3 defeats and 9 goals conceded with 2 goals scored speaks volumes.

We need to be better defensively and score more,
I hope the board realise this too in order to March On.

Hi am back in uk for 1 week flying back to nz soon. Have been a passionate supporter for a long time. Was at first protective to Puel but have to say that the longer he is rotating his squad then the worse scenario is happening. To be fair I seriously think he is following instructions from our board.

To say that we are struggling up front is stating the bleeding obvious. What on earth is happening here to a club that even when the snake Koeman left still had the infrastructure to go forward. At this moment in time we will be lucky to stay up unless there is serious signinings made. I return to new with a heavy heart.

Just returned from 2 weeks in Tenerife. Watched the games there. Horrendous fixture list combined with injury list/ lack of firepower plus usual Saints wobble same time every year equals 3. Straight defeats. Rotation is an issue but we can still turn it around. Commitment and drive are necessary from all the team. League cup semi is only a week away: Team has to dig deep and pull together. Fresh blood is needed in midfield and up top. Puel is still a good manager but needs to stop too much rotation and get some consistency now. Beat Norwich away and then play best 11 again in first leg. They just need to look back at games they won earlier in season and work their socks off on training ground this week and get the spirit back. COYR.
