Great win today, so sod of all you doom mongerers. SFC pride of the south

{Ed004's Note - Great result for Southampton today and hopefully you go through on Wednesday. Random question for saints fans. How highly do you rate Van Dijk? He's being linked to every big club in the world it seems and for huge sums of money but until recently it looked as though Fonte was the main reason he looked so good. Would you's be dissapointed to see him leave (even for 40+ million) or is that too much to turn down kind of money. It seems to be mentally that's keeping him back a bit - as in being a bit lazy to get back into position after set pieces or a lapse of concentration such as when Vardy nearly got in today}

I wondered why no one came in for him last summer. He is class and this season Fonte wasn't making him look good. I think he finds the game so easy that he can become a bit blasé which can in turn make him look lazy - less so this season than last and I think that is due to the fact that Fonte didn't play very well this season so Virgil had to step up.

He's the best CB in the PL and has been for 18 months. Wouldn't want to see him go, but accept it's likely. £40M is nowhere near enough. He's twice the player John Stones is, and on that basis we're looking at £60M minimum.

Reads the game better, tackles better, passes better, organises better, positions himself better, and also scores goals. Probably one of the best 5 CBs in the world. We cannot possibly let him go for a paltry £40M.

His biggest problem is he's like a kid disrupting a class because he's bored because its too easy, occasionally his concentration goes. he has got better and is absolutely class. His calmness, composure and quality with the ball is undeniable and another couple of years at top level should see him at the absolute top. but 50 mil plus is too hard to turn down

{Ed004's Note - He seems to have everything to be a top defender and his saving grace imo and what makes him so expensive is that fact he hasn't peaked yet. Defenders tend to peak at an older age due to experience. If he irons out the small flaws he could be up there with the best}

The problem is Ed004 we don't have the wage structure to keep hold of our player's so when a big club offering 90k+ a week we have to let them go seeing our highest paid wage is only 80k a week

{Ed004's Note - And he will be getting offers of way over 80k. Could probably double his money}

You are all right it's inevitable that he will leave, just hope it's to the right club. Chelsea or man u? definitely not Liverpool a side that wins nothing and still think there the biggest club in the league

He has a broad range of passing, mobility, and is composed and controlled on the ball. All the makings of a barcelona or bayern defender if you ask me. Why not? I firmly believe he can get in the first 11 of any top sides in the world atm. Kudos to reed, koeman, ans the transfer committee to get him last year but must admit celtic's scouting team did an excellent job being the base which helped propelled him on the map.

He is top class but will be gone in the summer. Personally I'd like to see him leave to a club outside the EPL.
Good performance by the team today. They worked for each other and looked for the first time in the prem for a while totally up for the game.
I just hope Puel plays our best team on Wednesday.

One of the best defenders in the world let alone the PL in my opinion. I think he is destined to win medals. He could walk into almost every team, so as saints fans I think we should enjoy him whilst he is here. Would not be suprised if barca/ real/ bayern came knocking. let alone liverpool/ man city

I'd be disappointed if he didn't end up at Barcelona one day. They'll forget all about Koeman if this Dutchman pulled on their shirt! I think he'd be underselling himself if he moved anywhere else as his abilities would fit into their team perfectly!

I agree with Ben, he would be perfect for Barcelona as he can be caught upfield a few times which Ed . 004 mentioned but with their midfield magicians he would not need to get forward too often. Playing with Barcelona with the quality they have could make him a football legend. He really is the full package.

{Ed004's Note - Thanks for all the replies. I don't think United have shown any interest so I'm going to agree with the views on here that he should leave the league because he would probably improve every team in the league especially if he irons out his flaws.}

I would disappointed if he didn't end up at a an elite club. City, Utd, Chelsea, Barca, Bayern or Real. Any other would feel like a potential waste of his talent. Could easily be classed along side the very best (T. Silva, Ramos, Pique, J. Boateng) if he was in one of the elite teams.

wouldn't like him to end up at man utd. they have had too many players who they have bought, flopped at man u, man u sell them for less than they paid for them, they go to another club and become awesome again. if you want examples check out falcao and di maria to name a few. yes they have got a good history but it is the future that counts.
