I have seen a few people suggest Puel goes, so thought I would ask to get an overall opinion - Claude Puel, should he be replaced in the summer or should he stay for next season?

Replaced by Roberto Mancini.

I don't think he is the right man for us. He is dull boring and shows no passion for the game. It is obvious he is not settled .

I think we need a proven manager who knows how to play the PL and to attract players and support for the club because of the SFC brand and positive style of play.

I think he should go.

It's a tricky one. We've perhaps over performed the past 3 seasons, we've been unfortunate this second half of the season with injuries and some poor decisions in the first half of the season with constant squad rotation. He did an amazing job in the League Cup. If he stays I won't be disappointed, if he can keep VVD and sign another decent CB and another decent CDM then our defence will be solid again.
On the contrary, if he does leave I would assume the club has done their research and will sign another good quality manager.
As other posts have said we have to sell our dead weights: Long, J-Rod etc.

As previous posts always state if you keep selling the crown jewels it is impossible to progress, a few years ago we would have been jumping through hoops to b mid table but that's when we weren't getting over 100 hundred million pounds plus player sales cash, I for one can't think of a player coming in is better ( not similar) than what we have sold for mega profit, you either tread water or go backwards, 3 games and 4 at most shots on target, only Middlesbrough worse and we know where their going.

That's the thong that has made us finish mid table and look safe. so many teams have been awful for long periods if the season. We are 8 points clear of relegation zone. that is not comfortable and if there is a marked improvement next year in other teams . who knows.

We've been very poor this season our football isn't even good to watch anymore. I know we've had a lot of bad luck with injuries but peul doesn't help with his rotation and not playing wingers we only started to plck up a few points when we did. The team is playing like their just off on their holidays peuls team talks must be like having Jeremy corby ne give one of his inspirational speaches.

Fans can be fickle, I want to see Puel succeed and thinks he deserves time. I never want southampton to become a club that hires and fires managers, if anything we need a stable manager team because of the player turnover each year.

He was dealt a poor hand at the start of the season, a team that had lost its two top scorers, had issues with the team captain - which most likely had an impact on the dressing room. In reality Puel only signed 2 players, Boufal who has had an injury hit season, and Pied who was singed as a back up and has missed the majority of the year.

He does however need to adapt. There is no excuse to be playing defensive tactics in the final few games of a season when you are safe from relegation. Experiment - with players, formations, tactics etc.

At nice his team played some of the best football in the league, so I feel given time to sort out the squad and have a full pre season he could be very successful.

Fundamentally the fans don't have an issue with the finishing position in the table, we are safe in mid table and have been to a cup final. What needs to change is the style of play. It's laughable that the club feels that they can charges £40 a ticket to send fans to sleep, I feel for the fans that travelled to Liverpool last week, you couldn't pay me £40 to watch that game again.

Loads of people are saying that under Puel we are not playing with our DNA or the 'Southampton Way' - surely Les knew what Puel would get us into? Les won't admit defeat and get rid of Puel, we'll have him for another season unless new owners come in as that's always a 'get out of jail' free card if you want to bin your current manager.
Puel thought we played well against Arsenal - 4th worst home record in the league and 3rd least goals at home. Only 1 more than Hull and 'Boro and 8 less than Burnley with 25.

How many times have Southampton FC finished in the top 10/ 8 of the top division?

How many cup finals have Southampton FC been in?

How many times have Southampton FC been in the group stage of Europe?

How many times have all 3 been achieved in the same season?

Whether fickle fans like it or not this season has been a success. Yes, goalscoring has been an issue, but how much of that is CP's fault? He can only work with what he's given and the cards he's dealt over the season.

As with everyone, he's replaceable, if he's not happy at the club send him home. However, I'd like to see what he can do with the right additions to this squad. If we can possibly finish top 8 with the lack of goals we've had this season and 13 games (so far) with a 3rd and 4th choice CB pairing then imagine what he's capable of with a firing strike force and fewer injuries.

I think Puel should have another season. He has taken us to a final etc as listed above. It must take 2 or 3 seasons to establish the correct playing style.

OK is he a bit defensive against the top 6 clubs - maybe. Did he beat the teams below us - yes pretty well - that's where our points came from.

Are we a CL team - not really but we don't have billions of Arab / Russian stolen state oil money to spend. Can we persuade Norges Bank to pony up?

So we need to try and hit bigger clubs on the break - and outplay the others - Tony Pulis anyone?

Its realistic - the SHTF if we end up in a relegation scrap - just look at the Munch Scream that owners do when they dip into that zone once Christmas is over. Just be content we are where we are - the starts will align one season and we will do a Leicester - who incidentally also have their very own billionaire owners to thank for their good results.

As a Forest Gump reply - I bet you were better in your job year 2 than you were year 1?

Puel another season please.

I hope he stays, our premier league form was always going to take a hit with the amount of games we've had to play. It's funny as so many fans said they'd take a good cup run and a lower place finish over top 7 again at the start of the year! He's developed a lot of good young players, so I'm hopeful for next year.
