Not sure how reliable the site is but an interesting (and slightly concerning) article about Gao investment on footballeconomy. com.

Ed? What's with this guy? The whole reason was supposed to be an an investment so we could have a higher wage cap and buy players cause let's face it player prices have sky rocketed over the past 4 years?

{Ed002's Note - I really think the Southampton fans should ignore the finances. Southampton has to work within the confines of FFP like all clubs. The additional income they have from the media rights is significant - ownwers cannot simply throw money at the club (although there is a way around that on a one off basis). If your expectations were massive amounts of money being handed to the manager then you will be disappointed.}

Once again ed we appreciate your input but I'm not expecting us being a top 4 team I'm expecting us to keep up with today's demands of being in the premier league ie wages and prices or we will fall behind if we can't keep. Like I said player's prices the average price for a premier league player will be 20 mill+.

Just a quick question to the Eds. Is this involvement with the Gao family just a transfer of power? Will it actually make any day to day difference to the running of SFC and if not why did it happen. We as supporters don't really understand the business side of things, well I don't, so are the Leibherr family gradually withdrawing? Why would she let 80% of the stock go from what seemed to be a viable business asset?

{Ed002's Note - Quite frankly Chris I would hazard a guess that it won't last more than a couple of years. Right now the transaction has been done but going forward it will need to be restructured financially to get on a totally firm footing. I doubt too much change will be seen on a day-to-day basis. As for the Leibherr family, they may well maintain a small shareholding but eventually I would expect to see them move on.}
