Hi guys
I'm just watching Everton vs Burnley and what a job Sean Dyce has done with Burnley, he is a manager who would do well for us. Everton look like rabbits caught in car headlights. Here is a thought ex pro players like the Neville Brothers, Paul Scholes on Saints coaching team, players who played at the highest standard, down to earth who know what is needed. ps Chris wood looks a bargain at £15 million, old style centre forward bullying defenders. one we missed.
Regards vs.

I think a few seasons back we were Burnley.

Playing a tough risk based game and scaring even the biggest teams and taking two or three scalps a season.

Now we are too 'continental' in our approach - too much emphasis on ball retention rather than risk taking in the final third when in possession but solid at the back and midfield when out of possession - we don't conceed 3 or 4 goals very often.

I think we simply need to take a few more risks with crosses and early balls into the forwards.

We've got the players fit now to play a back three. We've got potentially two of the best wing backs to provide the crosses. We just need to try it.

And that's the Shane Long problem too - he is good at running onto balls played through the lines of defence - and we are not playing enough balls in that way for him - as is Gabbi - he is always positioning for a through ball between the lines - but its not played for him.
