This may be of little note, but I've just seen MP's post-match interview again and noticed something I didn't first time around. When MP is asked whether he thinks he's the right man to keep Saints up, he simply replies 'I am the Southampton manager right now'. I'm pretty sure that's the first time he's given this answer and the use of the words 'right now' make it less assured. It does make me wonder whether anything is going on behind the scenes. May just be wishful thinking.

Leave MP in place till the end of the season but bring in a specific fitness and motivation trainer like Felix 'Saddam' Magath or Nigel Pearson to improve a few attitudes: A lot can be achieved in 3 weeks before the next game. Pearson worked wonders at Leicester in the last games of the season to stave off relegation and would have probably been the coach that won the Premiership the following year if it wasn't for the Bangkok incident!

Leave MP in place for what particular purpose? you can get ourteam as fit as you like, as motivated as you like . but it's MP 'the clueless one' who is orchestrating what is happening on the pitch. Actually, I think orchestrating is giving him too much credit!

As long as MP is any where near this team, we will not survive the drop. He clearly absolutely 100% does not understand why the team is not winning. He is alone in that .

Leave MP in place as he has a 3 year contract that has probably 27 months to run. OK, putting him on gardening leave may be an option, but someone like Magath is needed and I believe available. He will not be popular with the players and certainly knock some heads together. Life would not be pleasant in training for the over the next couple of weeks but he would make them earn their money.

Are you missing something? The players don't want to play 'possession' football . ie 65% possession and no shots on goal!
The want to play football!
MP is absolutely paranoid about not losing rather than winning! his interviews back that up! perhaps our players would like to play to win, not play to not lose!
gardening leave on the moon :-)

I am not missing anything, what is needed is a real shock to the system in a very short space of time and that is something that can only be achieved by someone like Magath or even Pearson. Magath has a proven record in this situation and would probably immediately be available at the right deal. Unfortunately, immediately means 6 weeks time when it comes to dealings of the management at Saints.

Magath would be a real threat to Les Reed's position as well.
