A perfect summer for me would be us signing shaqiri, promes, mitrovic and mawson and Forster, redmond, boufal and Carrillo leaving.

A “perfect” summer for me would be Saints signing Messi, Toby A, Kane and Bale (what a goal! Well done Gareth, bloody well done, as a Saints player of the past I’m very proud of you and your ‘sub eh? ’ heroics - wanted the British side Liverpool to win though. Great goal! )
And England to win the World Cup

But ok, realistic perfect summer from a Saints perspective, I’d like to sign as many of the following as possible (we have money available to compete, surely? )
Butland/ Hart/ Buffon
Mawson
He said he wanted more playing time - Gareth Bale!

And I’d not mind if we offloaded: Carrillo, Forster, Boufal
Sell if a good offer: Redmond, Bertrand (I love him but Targett is ready ready ready now) and maybe one other
I’d hope we keep the likes of Romeu, Ward Prowse, Davis and Long.

Hmmmm, do we really need another "top" keeper? FF to go, Alex has done us proud and deserves a chance. Bentley, @ Brentford, could be a useful No2 and had shown promise at Southend. Gibson as a CB upgrade, Reed as back up RB, if Cedric goes the JWP as RWB, need to get him in the team for his set piece work. If Bertie goes, then McQueen or Target and just a new striker, or use Gallagher with Gabbi.

i think you need to check out JWP's stats .
tackling is not one of his strengths . in fact he hardly ever tackles .

The club needs to sort out who stays. In other words start with Alex McCarthy. Give him a 3 year new contract.

Give Target a new contract and keep him as reserve left back if Bertrand stays.

I think Gabbi should be persuaded to stay.

We have stability with Hughes, now let's stabilise and stop anyone leaving that we want to keep.


We may have to start again in some positions but a stable team, that
plays together without disrupting influences like Van Dyke.

Either right back or right midfield is promising. JWP doesn't have the strength or aggression to play in the center. You can see his tremendous work rate and with his crossings could work wonders out right. Especially with tireless cedric bombing up and down and providing that extra aggression. I'd like to see that happen.
