Reports that we are "closing in" on vestergaard. I don't know apt about him, but on first impressions he looks like the "type" of player we have lacked at the back. A tall, physically imposing cb.
With ed002 info on what the club are looking for I think we have a chance of signing shaquiri but he is probably waiting to see what other offers he gets. But we need a replacement for tadic and he looks like the best option available to us on price.
If we've made am offer for Santos as well as vestergaard and both come in then it looks like one of Stephens or yoshida will go (probably yoshida)
I've said before that I think the club will promote from within for rb cover and I hope this will be Harry reeds chance as he played rb/ rwb for Norwich last season.
Elyounoussi looks as though he is a replacement for boufal. Armstrong a replacement for Davis.
Our central midfield options look strong (assuming no one leaves) with hojbjerg, romeu, lemina, ward-prowse and Armstrong competing in the middle. If we add shaquiri then thay gives us him, Redmond, elyounoussi and possibly gabbiadini as an option, along with sims who can hopefully push on more this season.
Clearly, we need a goalscorer. Long is not one of those. Austin is with the right service but his injury record is poor. Gabbiadini could be with the right service, but didn't show it last year. We need some consistent goals. Maybe in a "target man" mould to give our attack a focal point.
That's pretty much all my opinion, hardly any of it based on fact haha.

Pretty much covers most of it well on point, MS. Don't even think I have anything significant to add lol. Shaqiri is another tadic for me but he does have the ability to be top notch. And agree about a target man or anyone that can bring in others into play. Players like gabbiadini and possibly elyounessi are dying to have someone to feed off from and would totally bring the best out of them. Petagna rumoured and he fits that description pretty well albeit coming with a poor scoring record.

Bas Dost could do a job for us up front for a couple of years. He's 29 but 6'5" and scored 61 goals in 2 seasons in Portugal.

Key part with that irw is the "in Portugal" part. I think he'd be worth a go if he's cheap, otherwise at that age I wouldn't be interested.

Does seem like he could come in and have a similar impact to Pelle for a couple of years though if things went well.

At 6' 5" he'd be a good target man to hold the ball up for runners to come on to as well as hopefully scoring a few himself. As a previous poster said at 29 years old it would depend on his price and his wage demands. He could do a job for us for maybe 3 years. All seems to have gone quiet on Wesrergaard. Hopefully it means that he's going to be announced as a Saints player shortly.
