Dream scenario?
Fraser forster to Chelsea to replace courtois (I literally meant DREAM scenario because I couldn't see it happening)
Another striker (anyone bar Danny ings from the vast amount of names we've been linked with)
And another cb with Stephens going on loan
Reality?
I think our business is done.

I think you might be right Milky. Apparently a couple of Turkish sides are looking at Forster. We really need either an experienced top notch CB to hold our defence together or someone who can score a hatful of goals so that we score more than we concede. Preferably both.

Presumably, MH thinks Vestergaard is that top CB that will hold our defence together.

Well I hope MH knows more than me but I don't think that he's the finished article by a long way.

I think, as anticipated, we have seen the club trying hard to revert to the old model of buying talented young players to develop in our squad and sell on for a profit in a couple of seasons time. If we're lucky one or more of those players will develop quickly and have a very good season for us to help settle some of our anxiety.

The problem I see is that in the past, we have had a solid, experienced squad, comfortable playing in a certain way and capable of winning games to support the younger players coming in. We don't have the stability that was once there. Bear with me as a I rattle through this, but McCarthy has less than a season at number 1, Hoedt has one season as a starter, Stephens one season as an irregular starter, JV is making his debut, JB doesn't have a full season yet, Lemina has one patchy season, Hojberg has about one season under his belt, Armstrong is making his debut, Mo is making his debut and Gabbi has about one season under his belt given his lack of appearances last term. Our experience comes from Cedric, RB and CA. In our times of success, the balance has clearly been the other way round with experienced, settled players outnumbering those with potential.

We therefore must hope MH not only knows more about the players than us, but that he is coaching them well enough that the team plays as a collective, at least equal to the sum of its parts nd with enough consistency to avoid putting undue pressure on them.
