Hi guys I'm reading obviously rumoured that we are looking at Martin Montoya a right full back from valencia Spain, please can anyone tell me how many defenders and midfielders do we need? Are we not crying out for a consistent 15+ goalscorer? Is it me? Ings, welbeck
were the names bandied about and I would be extremely concerned if we don't bring in a forward or attack orientated player. Your views are welcomed. Regards vs.

What strikers would you suggest that are a legitimate upgrade on Gabbi and Austin? Anyone we could sign, judging by the rumoured names, would be either a reclamation project or an injury risk. Well we already have those, so why waste the money. The last thing we need is another Carillo. All we'd do is criticise that as well.

It's easy for us to sit here and moan about how much we need a striker, but we seem to expect the board to be able to just pull 20 goals a year out of their ass. Its getting ridiculous.

Anyway, our strikers are irrelevant to the Montoya rumour. We do need a rb as we only have one first team player at the position right now.

I was wondering whether MH would look at Harrison Reed for our Backup RB? He seemed to do a decent job for Norwich last year playing mainly in that role.

Reed and if he stays JWP can both play back up right back. As can yosh and Targett. I think we are fully covered there.

JWP has never played RB as far as I'm aware. Reed did it reasonably well in the Championship from what I've heard, so is probably part of the reason why we haven't been more concerned about the position. The point wasn't that we desperately need a rb, it's that it's a completely separate issue to whether or not we need a striker. And clearly, there is a need there even if we have some options as cover if we don't get one. If Cedric got injured and Reed disappointed, you'd all be hounding the board for not having a proper backup in place!

Cedric does need stronger competition at right back but we have players who can cover their in the interim. The problem up top is more pressing because both Austin and Gabbi struggled for goald last season, Austin's age is against him when considering his fitness and injury history and I don't think he can play 38 league gams, let alone cup appearances. Gabbi can play as a striker but if we play in a 3-5-2, who is he going to play with? If we only play one up top, Gabbi has already shown he isn't suited to it with the direct football we have been playing. I would steer clear of Welbeck but Ings has shown what he can do with a run of games and even if he comes as back up to Austin, I'd rather him on the bench then Shane Long.
