Great to see Yan get a contract extension. Happy to have been proven wrong in entrusting him with the R. B. role for the remainder of the season - thoroughly well deserved!

Filling the three week void I've been doing some digging on the state of our squad. Only a handful of players are out of contract in 2020 (none this summer), and a few like Redmond/ Højbjerg/ Romeu have a couple years left - hopefully they'll be signed up until 2025/ 6 if/ when we stay up.

Rose, Sims, Long, Austin and Yoshida are out of contract next summer. Rose is developing well with the U21s and Sims was immense on Saturday so they will surely be signed up soon.

Austin and Long I can't see signing on, so will go this summer for £3/ 4m a piece. Even though he'll be 31 next summer, I'd like us to sign Yoshi on to a two-year deal and see out the rest of his peak career with us.

He may not be the fittest or quickest option, but is a great squad player and can fill in even when well down the pecking order. Hopefully he heads back home for his retirement with his head held high.

Pleasantly surprised by the state of our squad contract wise - despite 2 years if mismanagement on the pitch, I'm glad we haven't been caught out off it in case any big boys start fishing around.

Austin will go but I reckon Ralph will keep long and just let him go on a free the following year. That's what I think we should do anyway.
I think sims is. gping to have to really earn a contract. I'd happily offer yoshida a 12 month extension. anymore than that I'm not So sure. I think Stephens has to go this summer. He's not cut out for this league. Bednarek, vestergaard, yoshida and a top class new cb.
