TV reporting Liverpool want to sign Adz before world cup.
Reckon they should stop talking to the press and make a bid - then we can tell them where to stick it.

AndySaint

1.) Even if we did want to sell, which we don't, we would surely want to sell after the World Cup by which time his stock would have risen. No doubt this is the reason why, if true, Liverpool want to buy him beforehand.

2.) Forgot to log in.

Liverpool have been talking to Southampton for some time about AL. Southampton are being slightly disingenuous when they say they haven't received a bid. What they really mean is that the 2 clubs haven't agreed a fee.

3.) Any sale will be after the world cup if at all. Seling before would be utter madness in the style of Rupert Lowe!

4.) Liverpool been talking to Saints for a while. was that statement by Les Reed last week a lie then about not being contacted by any club for any player.

5.) Quite possibly. Statements from football clubs aren't delivered under oath. It happens time and time again at every club. Season ticket sales will be another factor influencing what a club does and what they say.

6.) Saintmike: what you say is logical but there is no guarantee that his value will go up after the World Cup. Nowadays most transfers depend on what the player wants, not the club. If a player wants to leave, very few clubs will keep an unhappy player. Especially one on PL wages. I suspect that AL might be sold in the next week or so, from what I have heard from Northern based people. Sadly, this will be met by howls of outrage and denial from many on here. But there are so many other factors involved, it's possibly only a 60/40 call. One of those factors is the player himself not wanting to consider his future, which might be at Saints anyway, until after the W Cup

7.) My understanding of the situation is that Saints want to keep their players. However, Saints have created a group of players that have become more ambitious.

So, Saints are at a cross-roads. The squad has been assembled under Cortese, under the premise that Saints was building a squad over a period of a few years that could qualify for the Champions league.

Everyone, from the manager down is wondering whether that ambition is still there. The players themselves will be looking to see what quality of player is being brought in before they commit their future to Saints.

The message seems to be from Kruger and Reed, that the vision of challenging for European football is still intact, and if this is the case, then Lallana, Shaw, etc will stay.

If it is no longer the case, then expect possible departures of MoPo, along with one or two big departures.

Some people describe me as a happy-clapper, since I believe in the club. Since Saint Marcus (RIP) bought the club, they have said what they were going to do, then quietly got on and done it. Under that kind of guardianship, I can't do anything but believe we will retain our squad, and build for the future.

8.) Further more to my post, one thing has just come to me regarding the Lallana off before the world cup; after the world cup argument - Saints would be (God forbid that he should leave) selling from a position of strength. The lad is contracted to Saints, and could potentially say to Ads, 'No son, you aren't going anywhere', or even, do a Fergie, and say, 'Ok, you can leave next season'.

Saints Don't want to sell. From a commercial point of view, it would be a disaster to loose their Captain, and an England poster-boy.

Ok, so let's say that it does happen, and we sell Lallana. Why in hells name would a sale be rushed through? Sounds to me like there will be a bidding war, and therefore a prolonged transfer. Personal contracts wouldn't be easy to agree either, since Ads will be away most of the summer.

With all that said and done, I still don't think he'll be going anywhere!

9.) What I don't understand is why are they talking about £20m for adz when its £30m for shaw. Now I know shaw is younger etc but adz would be a far bigger loss and I would expect a higher price for him

10.) Quite frankly the sort of figures they are talking for our players are insulting to our club. We would need a lot more for these players to replace them and they are worth a lot more at the same time. The papers still appear to believe Southampton is run by morons.

11.) I m sure most papers and arm chair fans think we are still run by rupert lowe! i'm sure katherina will carry on with her dads pledge and take us all the way to europe. The south is the wealthy end of the country this is where its happening! adam is mr sfc he s on the wind up over lfc to take pressure of young luke this is the type of things captains and mates do, I bet the boys at sfc are rolled up! as I am!

12.) MP has said that he is waiting to hear what the next project is at SFC as we are now coming to the end of the current 5 year plan which has been extremely successful. Is the current boards first major statement if Intent going to be to take the club backwards and sell the likes of AL which will may mean loosing the manager as well?

I think we can justify the sale of Shaw for the money being reported as this will effectively eradicate any outstanding debt from previous transfers and allow us to push forward with some quality additions. I do not feel that loosing AL who is such a key member of the squad and club as a whole can be as easily replaced as the void left will be far greater. The chances of having someone coming in and hitting the ground running in such a capacity are slim. These things take time and we surely want to add depth and not just replace bodies.

So in short, do the new board take decisions that will risk the clubs future or do they aim to progress? They will be judged on their actions this summer.

Ok seems MP is indeed on his way. Anyone else not care? Why do we think there's no other decent managers out there?
Laudrup, Moyes, Yakin. the list goes on.
I think our next appointment will tell us everything we need to know about our football club and where its going - Malky Hughton Howe Sherwood - any cheap appointment like any of these and we are only going one way.

AndySaint

1.) You will start caring when all our best players have left the club. We will be left fighting relegation next season. And we can forget all about fighting for top four Liebherr has sold us out. She is as spineless as they come. Stay away from Southampton madam, same goes for Krueger and Reed.
saints fans should go down to St Marys and demonstrate, let them know how you feel, stop them from even entering the premises they might then wise up.
Best of all they can play to an empty stadium next season I just hate liars.

2.) What an personic thing to say! 'Spineless'? How?! What has she done that's spineless? 'Sold us out'?! didn't she just invest £60m in players, making us the third top spenders in that transfer window? 'Stay away from Southampton'! Yeah, that's right, we were doing so well until those damn liebhurr's turned up! You Sir are a fool.

3.) MCS, right now, with no definitive, proven news, you literally have no knowledge of what is happening, only media based suppositions and propoganda to go on.

You may well end up being right and if so, no doubt you will jump up and down shouting gleefully "I told you so" but until you can absolutely prove what you have said, please keep your anger to yourself.

My opinion is that I cannot see KL wilfully destroying or downgrading the value of the SFC asset she owns - serves no purpose. We may well eventually lose MP and believe me, I'll be just as hacked off as you if we do, but I'm pretty sure it won't be through the lack of trying to make him stay.

But until it all hits the fan, if it ever does, please do try and show support for the Club, your team, eh?

4.) No it's more the reason why he's leaving, which is either that he couldn't get assurances that key players would stay or the club is unwilling to invest properly this summer, I really hope he rejects them but it's even on bbc sport now that have confirmed he's in advanced talks, big shame if he does go

5.) ^ Oh my god, how can you even say that?! they've been in charge for 6 months and done NOTHING wrong in that time. All you've heard is rumour about the players and MoPo, just cause it's in the paper doesn't mean they're guaranteed to leave, y'know?

who knows maybe they're more ambitious than Cortese was?

6.) Will you still feel that way when Liebherr has sold all our players? You can look forward to a team without the following
Shaw
Lallana
Schneiderlin
Lovren
Clyne
Rodriguez
Chambers
They will all leave, why would they stay, we have been sold out wake up Mssaint

7.) Wouldnt want any of them except Yakin. I would like Uwe Rösler

8.) Why didn't you respond to my questions?! Oh yeah, you have no response. I don't see how paper speculation regarding the players you have listed equates to her selling us out? Please explain. Why are you telling me to 'wake up'? Does bickering with you normally cause people to nod off?

9.) Why would they stay? Because they are under contract and BOTH parties have to agree to the termination of that contract or one will certainly be in breach.

And I'm quite sure the club where that players are going to would want everything nice and clean legally and without encumbrance.

Get a grip till we know more for sure MCS - your going to make yourself ill!

10.) Block34 what you don't know is that I have a personally signed letter from the Sports editor of the Daily Mail CONFIRMING that both Shaw and Lallana will be leaving this summer. And if they go the others will too. its not rocket science we have been let down by a couple of mindless yes men and Miss Liebherr, end of.

11.) Some of the most depressing reading. ever. Not the fact that Poch may be leaving, but the garbage that is spewed onto this thread today.

Why are we having a go at Liebherr? I know she is not her father and she hasn't spent a fortune on players as you might wish. But we still owe our current owners a huge debt. They saved our club. in league 1. we're now an established premiership team again.
It seems, in some people's opinions, that unless you spend money like PSG then you are not competent owners. If you are a disgruntled Saints fan at this point, then you are spoilt.
Ok the manager and one or two players may leave. This is due to our success. not failure. The manager may change and players will come and go at all clubs.
I wish Poch well and thank him for his hard work. if he is leaving. I will then continue to support the team and the board.
The sad thing is that, I wouldn't mind betting that a lot of the doom mongers who post here were predicting relegation and a st Mary's meltdown when Poch was appointed. now we are doomed due to his departure!

12.) MCS - picture/scan (with date of letter of course) or it didn't happen.

Players under contract can only leave if the club they play for agree they can go and agree the compensation (fee) they will get.

From all accounts SFC are playing hardball about the fees being asked for AL and LS - totalling £55M if you believe all you read.

But you still believe the other 5 you mention will all throw hissy fits and leave as well? In that case seems likely we'll end up with nigh on £100M in fees due to us then.

So it'll be time to buy a complete new team then, well half a team. New stadium too! And lower the gate prices! And get a stripey kit back!

There we go, all's well with the world again!

13.) Calm down everyone, managers and players come and go, you can`t make them stay if they don't want to be saints players or be the manager bugger off to where the grass is greener and we can get in people that do want to wear the badge, glad you got a letter from the sports editor of whoever. must be true. what a load of old tosh.
Ed must read some of these posts and feel like giving up.
Paul clement or frank de boer will do. please not lennon

14.) Agree we owe the family of KL a lot and RIP Markus. BUT KL did not choose to buy the club, as I have mentioned inside news is that NC went because he was not given the assurances he will need. Although I was hopeful MP would stay this is looking unlikely. Shaw and lallana were always and will be sold.

I have to admit to being surprised as MP was in Southampton tuesday night - and as for telling AL not to go to Liverpool? I know Adam wants CL football next year - I wasn't aware Spuds had qualified.

Shaw will go because the money he's being offered - 100k pw is too good to refuse. (I know this is fact)
No one else is expected to leave at the moment - to suggest Saints are willing to sell 6 players - shaw, lallana, chambers, cork, lovren and SRL is just plain stupid - we would be left with nothing - why would we do it?
For the papers to suggest we are going to sell half of our best starting line up is just ridiculous.
