Boufal is a waste of a squad member and maybe one of the worst players I have seen in a long while pulling in our shirt. Let's admit it he's an absolute flop!

I remember everyone saying the same about mane the first year apart from boufal hasn't had the games to get any experience. There's no point keep playing someone who obviously has potential every 3 weeks!

It pains me to see Everton in Europe instead of us but with the pool of talent they now have it's increasingly obvious to me why koeman left to join them, money and lots of ambition, not shy to invest in order to step up and challenge the top 4. Compare that with our 5 million spent so far on an unknown CB and top talent looking to leave. We can't be naive to believe that we are keeping pace with the pack, we are not. When are we going to move forwards. Show us, the fans, the commitment through investment.

The market is crazy when you have championship clubs buying players for more than our most expensive signings we can't keep getting away with it, I know the club do their business quietly but this is deafening,3rd and 4th choice defensive pairing starting the season is just wrong.

Even our good neighbors Bournemouth are investing and I never thought I'd see the day when I have to admit they are our peers now and they are in the same competitive zone as us. Also West Ham pulling something together too. Next season will be tight and I fear long. I'm just pleading with the club to invest in the club and the fans, bring in some star talent, not only just those with potential for development (who then get sold within 2 years anyway) . When Conte slagged off Spurs for not investing this week, what he says is correct. You wanna compete or just survive?

funny how before Puel was sacked we had a great squad with a 'poor' manager who couldn't get them playing, now he's gone suddenly the squad isn't good enough.

Everton needed to invest in an ageing squad, what they've bought isn't all that good, they've over paid and they've lost their best player too.

Bournemouth needed to invest, again, ageing players - most of whom weren't premiership standard and what they have bought, they've over paid for.

Barring a couple of players our squad is good enough to challenge for a european spot. We don't need to pump our squad full of overpriced 'talent', just for the sake of buying. The clubs model has always been to buy well scouted, young players from abroad who'd fit into the team ethic and playing style. That shouldn't change just because other teams are essentially panic buying.

Like I said two seasons ago if you keep trying to tread water eventually you will sink last years 46 points was woefully short of what we should be achieving with the money the club has accumulated since our promotion, I got slaughtered when fonte went to irons and said they had more ambition just because they were below us in the league at the time and people were saying it was a backward step I bet he's laughing his tits off.

5.) 28 Jul 2017 10:23:19
Sainty I see your POV and I hope we can give it a good go next season but that's more of a hope than an assured position. In this league you must invest in your players and team, it's a proven fact and we are not doing that. Yes Leicester did it "our way" but I don't think we will see that happening again. Then see how they followed up the season after, limited investment and mediocrity. If you invest there is a much much higher probability that you will finish top 4 or 6 and compete. I really hope I am wrong but as a fan, I'm not being filled with a feel good factor right now for next season because I think we are lacking and that we have ridden our luck for long enough based on a parsimonious business strategy. It's a vulnerable strategy and with a 🙏🏻 It may continue. As I mentioned we are so far going into the new season with a good bunch of blokes and players, potentially minus one or 2 of our stars. Anyway COYRs, I'm just spouting my concerns.

Really saintmark? Personally I think Fonte will regret his choices for the next 40 years. Maybe not today, but definitely after he retires and probably before. Every time there's a cup final he'll be wondering why he swapped the experience of leading a team out at Wembly for £10k a week. Perhaps as an older gent I value life experiences over money, but I think everyone gets here eventually.

I'm glad our club treats transfer windows as a time to see if we can improve the squad, rather than treat it as a spending competition.

Would you swap WHU's squad with ours? I definitely wouldn't.

7.) 28 Jul 2017 12:14:54
If fonte hadn't won the cup with Portugal I may have agreed but like most pl players it's about the payroll and to get a three year deal and play in front of 50,000 most weeks, then the following year sign two proven premier league strikers yes I think he is pissing himself laughing, irons got mugged off with zaza last year and have bought proven quality just my opinion that's why I love footy and sites like this.

8.) 29 Jul 2017 04:35:02
Marco Arnautrovic is a bundle of talent but by god he is one of the most awfully inconsistent player I've ever watched. He's even less consistent than tadic. Now that's saying something.

9.) 29 Jul 2017 09:24:15
I'd have arnautrovic over tadic all day long, at least he doesn't fall over when someone stands next to him and blame the rest of the team for his lack of work rate, real shame because it is obviously there.

Agreed with you all. We can make all the excuses we want as to why some players are not performing but I think its because they don't give a &* (% and they are not playing for the manager, who they appear not to respect (nor do we) and to be honest, they probably don't give a flying turd anyway as the good ones can simply move on and stay in the Premier league.

Second from bottom before playing Brighton. West Brom and Swansea both finding form against top teams, we just need to find form. 3 points will pull us up the table by a few places but really, Brighton is a 9 pointer for us.

I agree that we sold Jay at the right time for him, the right time for us as he was never really playing as well as he did before his injury and we all wished him the best for the future. Good for him that he's found his niche and that he is playing well in a team he clearly compliments, well done Jay.
