It will be interesting to see what happens with Schneiderlin with Schweinsteiger all but done for United. I think it's obvious Arsenal want him but for £25m they don't want him that bad. I can see PSG coming in for him, they just sold one midfielder, they'd meet our valuation too but would he go back to France yet? But I don't know I have the strangest feeling we haven't seen the last of Morgan in a saints shirt.

1.) 11 Jul 2015 13:41:23
I really hope you are right. If we could tie him down to a new 5 year deal even better

2.) 11 Jul 2015 15:38:43
Worst case scenario he plays his contract out and leaves on a free

3.) 11 Jul 2015 15:43:52
Where does £25m come from?

£20m was rejected from Utd with an indication it was not seen as a serious offer-so likely to be considerably below our valuation. £25m then suggested by media but I have heard it denied by Saints.

Shaw over £30m. IMO Morgan's valuation will be no less.

4.) 11 Jul 2015 23:04:56
Spurs.

5.) 12 Jul 2015 07:20:30
I can't see us selling him to the Spuds, especially after the Toby debacle.
I don't think that they will stump up the cash after Levy saying that they were only willing to spend 10-15m on each transfer target this season. Also the fact that they are not a CL team which was one of Morgan's desires to leave.

6.) 12 Jul 2015 09:06:09
Haha can you imagine the backlash some supporters would have if we sold him to Spurs!?

I'm sure they'd try and bargain us with one of their "star" players. I think the next team to place interest in Morgan will be from the continent. But I think it's safe to believe if it's not a Champions League team he won't be leaving.

Ronald Koeman wants to bring in talented Dutch youngster Richairo Zivkovic on a season loan from Ajax. He's only 18 but is highly thought of as a player with a bright future. Thoughts on this?

Jamie1885

1.) 02 Jun 2015 19:25:03
He's Dutch, so it must be true!

2.) 03 Jun 2015 13:17:03
Definitely not true but decent young player. I've learnt over the years that do not believe ANYTHING in the media when it comes to southampton signings. We do a great job of keeping our transfer targets quiet and I don't think that will change, we will only know who we will sign when it comes out the mouth of the player or manager.

14 Jan 2015 15:03:47
I was told today a young German goalkeeper called Timo Horn is being lined up by Saints, apparently Ronald Koeman doesn't think Kelvin Davis is up to standard so wants a new backup/potential future number 1

Jamie1885

1.) 16 Jan 2015 14:17:29
really ? kelvin davis is 38 and nearly at retirement age. so yes he will be looking for a new keeper as gazza isn't up to it.
forster still has about 10-13 years left at the top level in him. and has proved to be a great signing , being a vital part of the defence and keeping so many clean sheets.
cant see anyone in the next few years , knocking him off his number 1 spot.

Arsenal have matched our £27m price tag for Morgan Schneiderlin. Going to be a nervy few days!

Jamie1885

1.) He does not go full stop!?

2.) There was no price tag mentioned because Morgan has been told he will not be sold in this window

3.) 27m is morgans premium price. every player at st marys has a premium price that we will sell at.

Fortunately this is simply not true. Although I suspect even if it were true Kreuger could not sell him after what he has said.

Not sure if he has much more face to lose.

4.) Saints never put a price tag on Schneiderlin. The tabloids merely RUMOURED that Saints would request more than what they got for Shaw - which, for what it's worth, was actually GBP32m including add-ons. Notice the emphasis on 'rumoured'.

Schneiderlin isn't budging. Not this season. Will probably leave next summer though. that's my bet.

5.) Ok then. what do I know. I suggest you look for the interview with ralph kreuger.

Andros Townsend could be on his way after all! Was talking to a few tottenham fans last night and they were saying the rumour is he's fuming at Daniel Levy as he only found out saints bid for him through the media and wasn't told by anybody at the club and wants to be starting week in week out to keep his England career moving, which he won't get at tottenham. They also said every single tottenham fan accepts Schneiderlin will not be joining which is what us saints fans have said all along. Anyway just something I was told, no idea how much truth is in it.

Jamie1885

1.) I heard he was very unhappy at not even making the squad against QPR.

So makes plenty of sense for him to come here and start every week.

Fingers crossed.

2.) 28 Aug 2014 14:49:43
Isn't that what we did to Lovren? Personally I want Townsend to say something along the lines of 'how I was moved to tears when I visited the Sea City museum when the I came to town last December. I have always dreamed of playing in red and white ever since I was a lad growing up in Leytonston. My head is defiantly already in Southampton and if Levy doesn't let me go I will never ever ever play for Tottenham again.'

3.) 28 Aug 2014 15:20:09
That genuinely made me lol.

4.) Koeman - "I wouldn't say Townsend is completely out of the question, because it is football (anything can happen).

- Source Press Conference

5.) He also said that he didn't expect good new on that one and said alderwield was unlikely, also said that he had never heard of Cerci, so back to square one on rumours front as all three don't look like they're going to happen!

I was just thinking how in the January window there were a lot of reports saying we would go for Martins Indi this summer. Now it looks like Alderweireld will be moving on, is he going to be the number one target to replace him?

Jamie1885

1.) 28 Jun 2015 01:15:49
No. In short.

2.) 28 Jun 2015 16:06:32
Porto charge even more for their players than Saints do! Can't see Martins-Indi being affordable, even if he wanted to swap a CL club for little old Saints.

12 Nov 2014 13:22:01
Rickie Lambert. would you have him back at saints?

Jamie1885

1.) 12 Nov 2014 13:35:19
Yes, but it won't happen.

2.) Not unless the team bus disappears with Long, Mane and Pelle onboard. RL would be at least 4th in our current line up. He could get a cup match or two in the early rounds.

3.) He will always be welcome back at st marys, just not in a playing capacity.

28 Jul 2014 01:04:47
So Lovren has gone, never ever a £20m defender and he never will be. Chambers is set to go tomorrow for £16m, good luck to the young lad he's going to be a fantastic player, funny how the teenagers have shown southampton the most respect this transfer window! Heard we are getting Gnarby on loan though I hope that's true. But on another note Is it just me, or has anybody else lost a lot of respect for Liverpool football club? Not just because they signed our best players, at the prices they are paying I can take that easily. But with how unprofessional they are about transfers? They're not exactly the behind closed doors quiet wait until its done type are they?!

Jamie1885

26 Jul 2014 09:03:03
I knew we'd sell a few players but this is ridiculous. I think we've made it clear we are the biggest feeder club and it's no good saying it's good money we are getting, it's not as if the board spend it. I always said the owner would cash in and sell up.

Jamie1885

1.) We all knew they had a huge bill for the new training ground and owed on transfers from last year, plus I guess the family took the opportunity to get their investment back!at least we should be very solvent. still leaves a hell of a lot of money. I guess.

22 Jul 2014 23:33:36
Southampton will sign Forster. He wants premier league football. Nobody offers big money at the start, but Southampton and Celtic have a very good business relationship and have had ever since Claus Lundekvams testimonial. But mainly because we paid over the odds for Wanyama even when his agents were kicking up a fuss. They also appreciate how professional southampton are when it comes to transfers and not going to the media every time they place a bid. With them signing Craig Gordon who is still a very good goalkeeper they were preparing for Forsters exit. Fee to be around £9m with some of the fee going to Newcastle.

Dejan Lovren is a good player on his day but £25m? Again, laughing to the bank. Watch him vs Tottenham away last season and you tell me that's a £25m player.

Its all well and good offering average players £70-£80,000 a week but what happens when the money eventually runs out or the club is sold to somebody with a tight budget? Learn from Portsmouths mistakes.

He's a good goalkeeper but also goalkeeper of a team who came 20th in the premier league, now in the championship. They'd be lucky to get £6-7m for him, £15m did make me laugh though.

What's the point in bringing him through? So he can have 1 or 2 seasons here and then leave?

We'd just be a stepping stone for a player like Hernandez
