Being realistic here but Kasper Schmeichel and Aaron Hunt along with a rejuvenated Osvaldo and fit Gaston would cost no money. That would feel like four new players. Any dosh to a new CB such as Caulker or Shawcross.

Puddletownsaint

1.) Don't rate Caulker. Slow and clumsy. Think Spurs did well to get £9 million for him. No better than Fonte. If Saints have £10+ million to spend on a defender, they can get much more value for money elsewhere (Lovren was only £8 million).

2.) Osvaldo can't come back everyone in the squad hates him! Agree on Gaston though, he'll play a big part next season, but why don't you think we'll spend much? We have the money

3.) Nobody in the squad hates osvaldo, everyone's moved past it now - it's down to whether he wants to stay and/or juve coming up with the right amount of money

I know most people on here love the english players but 8 million for a foreigner as good as lovren or 9 for an english player as good as caulker? I'd take the foreign player every day. I'd love for us to look at someone like tin jedvaj from roma or umtiti from lyon - either would be top drawer

In the second half of this season Ramirez has shown he's got what it takes to be a great player for us the only problem now is keeping him fit - I don't think he or lovren were quite ready to come back when they did

We probably won't spend as much money - we don't need to spend on developing the squad as much as we have over the last couple of seasons, just on one or two signings to improve our weaker positions. I'm guessing we'll spend 8/9 mil on a defender and 10/12 on a striker, get kasper in on a free and we'll be sorted

Also heard we've lined up a sponsorship deal with Samsung - know anything ed?

Saintysaintsaint

{Ed002's Note - I can't help about the sponsorship - and you need to register.}

4.) Chelsea have a sponsorship deal with Samsung that lasts up until the end of the 2014/15 season.

They also sponsor Bayern Munich. And, erm, Swindon Town and Leyton Orient.

Are they allowed to have more than one premier league team on their roster?

{Ed002's Note - Of course, in the same way as Flybe did.}

5.) I would agree on the foreign player thing if our more of our foreign players had been a success, as if you look at how well Clyne, J Rod and Steven Davies have done and compare to Yoshida (has done ok), Mayuka, Osvaldo and Ramirez (although I think Ramirez and Mayuka could still have a future with us). Sure Boruc, Lovren and Wanyama have been good but it's a much lower success rate, I think we need a mix of both players who are used to English football (so don't even have to be English) and some foriegn players to see if we can get great buys in, as we could do with another Lovren! Ings would be good, b ut I think Behrahino needs to be looked at, would offer us something different, someone like Mussachio at CB (bit ambitious maybe) and maybe Fraser Forster in goal, would give us a quality team for next year!

Nice words from the new chairman. My thought for the day - KL releases 100M - what would you do with it. 1. Expand the stadium 2. Marketing
3. Transfers 4. Wages 5. Youth

IMO the best tool for attracting the best players and fans is to win matches and cups. So let's buy as good as we can afford, success will bring new (although many plastic) fans, more exposure and hence more money and then the wheel keeps turning clockwise. Lack of squad investment could see players leave and the cycle goes in reverse.

In this new open era of communications I wonder where there priorities lie. Anyway 4-0 on Saturday.

Puddletownsaint

1.) He has said that he will focus on developing the training facilities for the players and youth and then after this, focus on the development of. St. Mary's

2.) Looks as if the days of potentially challenging for Europe will. Be turning back into a season just to survive again. It was fun while it lasted.

3.) ^what makes you say that?

4.) Someone who says he wants to attract a larger market, support the manager, and continue to build the club up as has been happening over recent years? Clearly sounds like someone who wants to be tight fisted and lead to our relegation doesn't it? Have a little faith.

5.) Can't believe some of the moronic comments being made on here.

Nothing said by Krueger indicates that the club is going to go backwards. He clearly wants to strengthen the club on and off the field, with the caveat that this will only be pursued/achieved in a financially responsible manner.

The biggest indicator of RK's attitude to player sales will be whether or not Pochettino stays. He came from Espanyol where he was constantly frustrated by the club's lack of ambition and insistence on selling its best young talent. He won't want to go through that again.

6.) Plastic fans, relegation, no european challenge, gawd what is the matter with some people.

At the moment things have changed for saints we need no longer be considered the parochial outsiders. We are in terms of owner being well run, have in the words of our captain a world class manager, and I would say several of the best young players in the prem. We could still hit 55/60 points and you do not employ people like Kruger if you are not ambitious.

He could have chosen a job in the states but chosen us.

Enjoy these are fantastic days for saints

7.) Maybe the biggest indicator of a reversal of attitude, tactics and fortune would be the imediate statement from the dopey canadian that we do not know how long we will be able to hold onto Lallana and Shaw. Followed by the comments we will work within our means and that will mean paying a price. This leads the astute to think that w will revert to a selling club and hope our production line continues to supply new players for clubs that actually want to win trophies. KL will not fund the club any longer.

8.) To above-sell to clubs who actually win stuff- who is that then? Theo and ox to arsenal who well haven't won anything in 8 years and bale to spurs, please remind me what he won there! Think you mean sell to clubs that are too lazy to produce their own players

9.) To Above, Did I not say WANT to win? Did not say HAD WON. As we are likely to sell Shaw to either Man City or Chelsea well they def win trophies. Lallana to liverpool is muted well they win trophies as I think the records will show over the yrs. We are going back to a feeder club for the top six clubs as far as I read the new chairmans statements.

10.) At what point have Saints ever been a feeder club to the top 6 whilst in the top flight ourselves? You're wrong to think this is the direction we're heading. You under-estimate, particularly with Lallana, the commitment he has to playing for Saints. He had many opportunities in the past to leave and didn't, that won't change.

11.) I can't really have a chat about who Shaw/lallana may or may not be sold to as this is something that I guess no one really knows, personally I think Lallana will stay but that is only my personal thoughts. As for being negative about the future, it wasn't that long ago that Saints nearly didn't have a future so I for one am going to enjoy being a saints Fan as I always do. No one knows (unless your the owner and one or two very select trusted aids) what the summer will hold but that doesn't mean it will be good or bad, enjoy it unfolding. Phil

12.) I think every club is a feeder club to some extent. Bale, fab regard, v Persie, gotze, etc etc.
what matters now is money. Southampton as a club cannot compete with the wage demands of top talent, at the moment anyway. The problem with being a feeder club like of our past, was not all the money raised was re invested. I think we need to continue to build to become a top club. Even if KL wanted to invest millions to shortcut success, fair play regs wouldn't allow it anyway. I think that was the main difference between cortese and Ralph. One wanted to overspend to gain quick success while the other wants to build slowly within our means. Exciting saints future for years to come!

13.) If shaw is a lifetime Chelsea fan, as they have watched him to many times to mention the outcome is inevitable, as always money will talk, the good thing is saints have good back up and a production line of talent.

14.) If Adam leaves saints it will be a disaster, take him and Lovrens out of the team we would be less than average.

15.) Apart from Lovrens and wanyama saints have spent and wasted a fortune on players, poch has improved the rest of the original championship side at the momoment it looks to me as its only the players trying to get to brazil are putting in a shift. Our defense was a shambles at times against a very poor Norwich. Guess we've nothing to play for.

{Ed001's Note - you really need to register mate, we are moving away from unregistered posters being allowed to comment on here.}

16.) What he did by mentioning Shaw / Lallana is allow the opportunity for bids, but that we'd only sell for the right price, as we don't have to, far from being a feeder club!

17.) Ed, just asking, why do folks have to register please, most of us have just been putting our thoughts forward, not in a nasty or abusive way, so many petty rules and regulations these days, just wondered why on here.
Love the views and comments of the other Saints fans, thanks.

{Ed007's Note - It helps cut down on trolls, the pointless anonymous one-liner posts and encourages interaction between posters. Does anyone really care about someone's opinion when you have no idea whose opinion it is? You don't know if it's a Saints fan, a rival on for a wind up or one of the pathetic, sad little people who answer their own posts to try and give their point more credibility.
It has greatly improved the sites we have already implemented it on.}

18.) Well said Mr Ed.

19.) We sold ox the arsenal when technically we didn't have to sell. Every player has a price, no matter what the club. I don't think we well sell any players with 3. Plus years on their contract as their price would be too much. But wait til our top players are in the final 2 years. Then see if money talks.
As for the registration, this site desperately needs an app for smart phones

20.) We sold The Ox because his Dad pushed him to leave to go to Arsenal.

Saints didn't want him to leave, but if a player such as The Ox decides he wants to go, then there isn't much to do bar getting the best deal for the club.

The big difference now is that Saints are in the Premier League, so there is a better chance of retaining the kids, and if they go, they'll go for more cash since they are already performing in top flight football.

21.) Yes agreed. So I shaw say he wants to go, I think you will see a Tottenham bale style saga where we would get him to stay one or two more years then sell him at the right price. But still this doesn't mean we can't stop some of our best talent forcing a deal through like ox.

22.) The fact of life is that although we now have a very wealthy owner we are (as yet) unable to compete with that group of clubs who are essentially above us in the premiership.

Not knocking saints just an observation of how it is. If in the long term Liebherr and her money and Kruger and his management of the club cement us in the top 6 then the situation will be different.

If Luke, Adam and Morgan want to win things in their career it is only realistic for them to seek a move or be poached from our squad by a club that is in a position to win silverware.

Ed, it would be interesting if you have any info on the rumour that on transfer deadline day Liverpool bid in the region of 20 million for Llanna after the deal for the Ukrianian fell through. Will they back in the close season?

{Ed001's Note - Lallana has rejected Liverpool a number of times, as far as I am aware no bid went in from Liverpool as the lad himself has made it plain he would not join Liverpool. Also, Liverpool didn't have £20m to offer in January.}

24 Jan 2014 09:52:56
Great debate here guys. Here is my wish list. I have tried to make it at realistic as possible so here goes:

Hernandez (on loan - going to get so little game time at Man Utd)
Richards (on loan - as above. Can see Citeh buying another CB as well)
Lescott (on loan if above does not happen)

Osvaldo (out on loan - reasons we all know)
Shaw to Chelski but loaned straight back for rest of season. Bertrand in px.

Summer will be even more interesting :)

Puddletownsaint

1.) Why sell shaw? Wouldn't make any sejse whatsoever. Bertrand is on loan at villa anyway

2.) I can't really see any of that happening, other than Dani going out on loan, perhaps. I would like to see a CB bought soon, as cover for Lovren until he's back, then to replace Fonte. In an ideal world we'll get Astori, Banega/Diego and a world class striker. in reality we'll probably get a couple more letters from Liebherr stating her good intent, and nothing more. Why would Shaw leaving be on your "wish list"? It's having players like him that will encourage others to join us!

3.) Sorry my Shaw comment was a realistic one not a wish list. Believe that Chelski want him so will do the deal now - loan him back until the summer and then we get Bert for next season. Don't want to see Luke go either.

4.) Well I'm afraid Jesus Perez who takes over managerial duties on FA Cup weekends has said that Saints would not be signing anyone to replace the injured players. Just to keep fans happy he said 'but you never know'.

Personally I think this is a bit silly as we have sort of proved if we lose anyone from the back five we immediately look poor. Perhaps with a proper board keeping an eye on things we need to reign in our expectations and prepare for being the good mid-table club, as lots of people like us to be?

I love my club, Saints, but they do spout some cr&p sometimes.

Respecting the FA Cup? I think not. We'll put out the usual suspects and keep winning until we draw someone reasonably good and out we go.

I am losing interest in football a bit nowadays as we seem to have lost our way, on and off the pitch, and having been swept up in all this 'how can we win the Premiership' stuff I've sort of realised we will just be good old 'Southampton' and never really much more than that. Our brilliant academy will continue churn out gems for other clubs I'm sorry to say. Think about Shaw, he's going no where at the moment but he'll be gone soon enough - if he goes to Chelsea he's guaranteed to win trophies, play in Europe and play the highest standard for years probably - with Saints it's a BIG maybe. What would you do?

Any club that thinks that Jos, Fox and few others are Premiership standard and can do a good job when called upon really is not as ambitious as they make themselves out to be.

5.) Not really sure about part ex deals, normally when I buy a car and give a part ex it is knackered. lol

6.) I believe Shaw when he says "I still don't want to go"
I believe Poch when he says "I'm not letting any key players go and they don't want to anyway"
And I believe Leibherr when she says "Nobody me and the manager wants to stay will leave this month"

Hence, Shaw not going anywhere. That's the Shaw thing.

7.) I agree with u Icelord, but to keep premier league standard players happy is not easy if some of them are only getting a handful of games a season. Only Champions League teams seem to be able to do that by payin squad players 60K a week plus! Do we really want that?

8.) Don't want Hernandez, personally don't really rate him, think we can do better IMO

9.) Agree with icelord on this one. After the past 10 days I fee like the heart has been ripped out of the season & its a good job we've got a decent tally of points on board. As far as i'm concerned hopefully we will limp towards the 40pt tally sooner rather than later & then for me that's job done for the season, then wait for what awaits us in the summer. What the club & players forget is that all the talk in interviews of european football, many of us fans actually bought into the vision & beleived especially after the start we had. Although i'll always support saints, I do feel a bit let down this season now.

10.) My wishlist which I hope is more realistic would be:
Samuel Umtiti - CB from Lyon
Diego - Wolfsburg
And a possible swap deal with Osvaldo for Icardi.

Granted the Icardi deal is unlikely, I'd really hope for it to happen.

11.) Shaw doesn't want to go because he is smart. He understands that at Chelsea he will not play - something that saints will definitely give him. He should stay for another 2/3 seasons and then he can fulfill his dream. He needs to be smart

12.) Don't get too carried away with the doom and gloom of the press. 1st half against Sunderland was arguably the best 45minsof the season. We will be nowhere near relegation this season.
As for signings, I think nobody in or out, finish roughly mid table, then reassess in the summer. And even if poch goes, saints will still be an attractive club to manage. Things are not all bad for saints. I think a lot if fans got carried away with the champions league cortese affair. You have to remember that if players do leave, and youngsters do get sold, I'm sure it will be for a good price then reinvested into the club. Rupert Lowe doesn't own saints anymore!

13.) Umtiti would be an incredible signing, he's world class on his day and is only going to get better and it would be pretty smart to sign him as he and Lovren already know how to play with each other and work well together.

How often is Jese Rodriguez being used at Madrid these days? He can play on both wings, down the middle in the Lallana role and upfront as a 'false 9' would be a great signing, even if it was just on loan 'til the end of the season.

Morata? Fallen out of favour at Madrid, Arsenal are looking at him Tello? Plays quite a bit a barce but could be worth a punt Cuenca? Not played since his knee injury, looks to have endless potential, Barce would probably be open to him getting game time.

Why are we not thinking of these types of players? If we have a serious ambition of playing European football and being a force in the prem these are the type of players we need to start convincing to come to us, not players who have never played above championship level, just because they're English and support Southampton

14.) I agree, need to start loaning some players looking to prove thereselfs to there own big club or other big clubs because they clearly have something or they wouldn't be there

15.) If we play Jos Hooiveld this weekend it will be a big problem, no pace and gives the ball away. Rather give Aaron Martin a chance.

16.) Why Martin? Cause he's English? If Martin can't even make the 25 man squad, in what possible way could he be better than Hooiveld?

17.) Even if we finish 8/9th this season that is still a massive step up from last year. Anyone who thought we would walk into a champions league spot this year was dreaming. If we keep our players this window then I think we can still look forward to a decent second half of the season. All is not lost.

18.) I am only mentioning Martin to emphasise how weak at the back we are without Lovren. Could try Jack Cork there he has done it before.

Is it time for a winter break - after the FA Cup 3rd round and start again with the forth round.
Transfer window in that time.

Mangers must get one review a game. Some of the referees mistakes are just awful.

Yellow cards means a ten minute sin bin.

What changes would you make. Discuss.

Having 5 of our top players out will give the others the chance to impress. Reed Long Gardos and Elia will step up their games.

Question with your rose tinted glasses off.

If Reed and Elia play really well would you bring back Spider and Mane straight away.

My answer is Yes as they are quality but it fuels the debate as to how the nippers do get the break through.

Puddletownsaint

12 Jan 2015 11:04:39
After our amazing performance yesterday was thinking what a great squad we have when all are fit and back from various competitions. We are short of Mane Jay Rod Yos Tadic Long Reed Targett Cork Isgrove Hesketh from the starting eleven - to me that is enough depth other than a RB and GK (Byram and Lindergard) and then buy quality, players that can start, rather than quantity and that fit our style of play.

So for me that is Kane or Austin up top and Van Dyke or Martins Indi in centre defence in the summer.

Play the top dollar for quality. Your thoughts.

Puddletownsaint

1.) I don't think we would be able to sign kane now with the way he is playing but Austin would be a good shout. I think we definitely need a goal scorer sooner rather than later

2.) 12 Jan 2015 12:53:03
i think we could sign 1 of 3 players.
Lennon who is available
theo walcott
Antonio Valencia

3.) 12 Jan 2015 17:04:47
I really don't think we need any more wide players, I feel Pelle needs a box player to accept his lay offs. When Tadic came inside yesterday and received the ball from Graziano we looked much more menacing, so menacing that we scored. It's great having these crosses coming in but we need something happening inside the box not just Pelle trying to do it all by himself.

4.) I agree, we need another Tadic type player, it's a shame we didn't go for Shaqiri :/

5.) I'd love Kane!! But Austin would make a good signing, I agree Byram is well suited to us maybe a younger keeper would be good to develop into the position, also agree on CB's, it seemed we wanted Mateo Musachio at some point last year, wouldn't mind him there either! Also think if Berahino is available he would be worth going for, COYR!!

6.) 12 Jan 2015 17:56:14
Ings-or similar!

Real nuisance, quick feet, darting runs. Could be a Pahars type of option, playing off Pelle and then with Jay Rod/ Mane/Tadic as options we could really improve on our goals v chances ratio.

7.) 12 Jan 2015 20:47:53
Just wondered what people think of how Shane Long is feeling ? He is the top priced signing still in the squad with us and can't get a game, something to me seems a bit crazy about this. We have 3 players on our books that have cost us over 35 million pounds and all in their own way are club record signings and two out of the three are out on loan. We are doing a lot of things right now but we have wasted some serious money on players on big contracts. I just don't think you could make this up, the cost of those players would finance the stadium expansion, unbelievable. I am so happy with what is happening, truly, but just wonder if Jack Cork has been offered half the contract deal of those three, if not I wouldn't be surprised if he tells us to poke it. Only my opinion and trust I am wrong.

8.) I agree there have been some mistakes, but we are getting it right a lot more often than most other teams. I think there was an element of panic over long, people where seeing the money come in and prices went up. We had to stop the rot.
It sent out a statement that may have convinced some others to come, so I don't think it is too bad. He definately adds something to the squad, and I reckon he will get chances to nail down his place, just needs to get his shooting boots on more regularly

9.) I see there are up to 10 prem clubs interested in Defoe and he would cost 3 million plus wages ect. He could be the man in the box we need and would settle in immediately. With Tadic, Mane, and the new Dutch guy covering the wide issues and Pella with Defoe in the box - plus Long of course - then looks job complete to me!!7

10.) 13 Jan 2015 09:05:53
Defoe has always been a reliable goal scorer but he once again is more of a wide player. The other negatives are that he is 33 this year and has had injury problems, not sure we would want him to be honest. If you are going to take a punt on an older player I still think Dirk Kuyt could still do a job and his ability in the box is very good, I personally think he would be the better option. I would though splash the cash on Austin, he is only 25 and a similar player to JRod. I suppose it all depends what Ronald thinks and knows about JRod's fitness issues, hopefully it will be good news soon and then maybe our forward problems will be sorted, we may just need a temporary fix till the end of the season.

01 Jan 2015 11:13:29
My New Year wish list:

Transfers - Toby and Ryan on permanents.
Defoe on loan

Results - Beat Arse and at least draw v Man Utd

Table - Stay above Spuds and Liverhampton

Come on you Saints

#GoodLuckTim

Puddletownsaint

1.) Are you a skate?????????

2.) 02 Jan 2015 10:32:53
defoe ?? haha . really.
robbie keane would be the better option.

23 Nov 2014 11:26:43
I look at the Saints squad and think to myself - with the budget we have got there is no where to really strengthen in January. Would like the see SRL and Campbell from Arsenal on loan mind you.

Best deals would be to sign up Jay, Morgan, Nath and Corky. COYR.

Puddletownsaint

1.) Yes, we have a strong first team squad of 18 around 18 players, but to say that with the budget we have there is nowhere to strengthen in January is crazy.

If Pelle or Tadic were injured in the next week or so, we would struggle to create goals or put them away, especially if their absences carried on through January and the ACON.

If Forster were injured, well that doesn't bare thinking about, though I suppose we could recall Boruc.

Our squad is thin enough that our season could still fall apart following a few injuries to key players. For that reason, and our relative success so far, I hope we do strengthen this coming window.

2.) So St Christopher - my point is made - what players are really going to come to us and play second fiddle to Pelle, Dusan and Fraser. I totally agree that we need depth but that comes from buying better than we have. We simply do not have the money or wage structure for this in Jan hence why SRL and Campbell would be great loans.
Who would you see coming.

3.) 24 Nov 2014 10:13:37
Look it's as simple as this, if we want to play in Europe we will have to strengthen the squad and pay the money. We have the money, I get a bit fed up with people saying we don't have the budget, we are one of the richest clubs in the league and have no physical debt apart from the staged repayments we are making for business reasons. We can become a top club and compete in Europe year in, year out but it will come at a cost. We have not got history which may be a big problem when enticing top players to join us and act as squad players, however as we know football is mainly about money, so for the right incentives most players would join us but would that then break the unique ' spirit ' of the club. It is a delicate business to become more or less instantly successful and the infrastructure at the club has to be sound and forward looking. There is no reason why SFC could not join the top clubs in this country but first there are a lot of people to convince that it is realistic. The number one element required is support and looking at the Man City game still having loads of seats available still for Sunday is worrying. For the board and owner to invest mega millions to go to the next level they need to see that it could be justified, I have a feeling that any club in the top 5 or 6 with a ground our size would have sold out a week ago for a game against the champions. Why are our supporters so reluctant to follow the dream ? I think it could be the cost as we have a lot of games coming up over the next month and then it is Christmas so in some ways the fixture list has not helped. This is maybe the problem of having a successful football club in a part of the country where the population have much less disposable income compared to our friends from the North. The other reason is probably because it is on the TV and if that is the case we need to find supporters that will be there no matter what not just when they feel like it, so in other words we need the stadium to have at least 75% season ticket holders, we will always turn up, that is what's called true support. No big future without a full stadium every home game.

4.) Don't forget Man City have returned a load of tickets Chrisdownj.

I would argue that we could sign the likes of Kevin Kampl for the rumoured £5m. John Guidetti for £5m. Both of these players would in my opinion strengthen the sides options.

Tadic needs competition for his place, just like any other player. We need someone to step into his boots when he has a poor game, or carrying a knock. Same goes for Pelle. For the sake of £10m we could add some of the depth required for the squad, while giving us additional options.

5.) 24 Nov 2014 18:32:41
I agree St Christopher but so did Leicester and we sold out on the Tuesday. I think the Man City tie should be more attractive than Leicester. Got a feeling it must have something to do with being televised. I wonder what will happen tomorrow if we win at Villa, stampede for tickets ? I wouldn't hold your breath.

6.) So both Chris's really believe that the likes of Guidetti will come to Saints to play bench warmer - not a chance (although that would be amazing) - I agree chrisdownj that not selling out for the Man Citeh is terrible. Where are those 45K who went to Wembley - bet they will turn up again if we beat Sheff Utd (got my ticket by the way). Just remember this, we can only spend what we earn it is called FFP!!!!! only not fair. The owners can no longer throw 100M into a team. let's be honest here, we are top of the middle third and until we grow our brand globally, increase commercial revenue and fill a 45K stadium that is where we will stay. Any way on a happier note, we are 2nd in the premier league and I am going for 1-2 this evening. COYR.

It is very simple. A new tier above the Northam to house the away supporters which means no segregation and that silly gap behind the goal. Ticket prices set at £30 per game.

There is plenty of parking in Southampton - just don't leave it until the last minute.

I am one of those fans from Dorchester way - there are hundreds of us who often attend when work allows. We make it a day and sometimes an evening out. COYR.

Agree with the CB post but if we are to move to the next level - including the FA cup then the likes of Richards Shawcross or Caulker must be on the radar first.

So both Chris's really believe that the likes of Guidetti will come to Saints to play bench warmer - not a chance (although that would be amazing) - I agree chrisdownj that not selling out for the Man Citeh is terrible. COYR.

So St Christopher - my point is made - what players are really going to come to us and play second fiddle to Pelle, Dusan and Fraser. I totally agree that we need depth but that comes from buying better than we have. We simply do not have the money or wage structure for this in Jan hence why SRL and Campbell would be great loans.
Who would you see coming.

We already have them in Jack Cork, Harrison Reed and Dominic Gape. However I would get Will Hughes from Derby if we had to buy.

TJ - I hear your point about money. The issue hear is the FA must get some balls and tell the PL who runs football. Surely the 'big clubs' must have to register with the FA to play in the PL. No pay no play. It seems the PL have their own train set and want to play with it. The PL should be a brand of the FA not the other way round. All monies from TV should go to the FA not the PL be it Sky, MOTD, ITV or overseas. Truly believe that the FA should run football from top to bottom not withstanding the motley crew in charge at the moment.

Any way rant over - can you tell me the relationship between the FA and PL and how it works.

Forster - solid
Shawcross - solid
Hunt - free
Hernandez - proven

On the sad side I reckon that Spider and Clyne will go. Hope not but that transfer dealing will be cost neutral.

If we then manage to sell Dani then Cresswell as LB back up and and Byram at RB back up. McCormack would be a chance to take also.
