I think from tonight's game we can take positives from our play. First goal we switched off and fonte beaten in the air by a world class striker. 2nd goal poor error from clasie . just stand your man. We kept the ball well at points hojberg looks like a good buy. And remond needs time to adjust. I still think we need a strong defensive midfielder and a striker. Dare I say . someone like Wilfred bony . just my opinion.
We never stop.

Very strange post on Facebook by Jose a lot of people get the feeling of mixed signals

7 years of Passion, hard work, dedication and putting the team first, we was able to achieve success after success!
Thank you for being there all the way

Thoughts?

I'm sure loads of people will all read it their own way, but I really can't see that being anything other than bad news.
Still if it happens, I'm sure we will move on. I just think with a potential Fonte replacement, a playmaker and another striker we will start this season stronger than we started last.
I really hope he does stay, but if the biggest clubs come calling it's hard to keep hold of our players. We know this from many previous seasosns.

He's reached the pinacal of his career over the summer and is thanking us fans for being there on his journey.
End of.

3.) 11 Aug 2016 19:30:35
Very true . I could not begrudge a move to Europe or possibly back home as he's 31 now . But for the love of God not a premiership side.

4.) 11 Aug 2016 22:49:48
He's thanking the club and the fans for his success. Without saints he probably wouldn't have been in the Portugal squad. Fairplay to him.

You missed out quite an important bit where he say "We March On. " Does that change your impression of it?

6.) 11 Aug 2016 23:16:24
Crikey here we go with gloom and doom with pessimistic thoughts about Fonte's future. Blimey the post does not expand to "I'm going at the first signs of more money with a bigger club" statement no matter how people read it. The club and Claude have stated that Saints have no intention of selling him this season. Fonte has stated that in so many words that possibly a move to some one like Barcelona or a team in the champions league could be tempting. That cuts out Man Utd, Liverhampton and Everton straight away. For gods sake stop panicking . Keep the faith . It's a full house Saturday get behind the team and be the 12th man.

Just seen his Instagram account - in full kit holding the badge saying we march on! I don't see him going anywhere this season. He won't go the Everton as they can't offer him what he wants - Europe.

It would be nice to hear of the captain at some point.

Is it me being paranoid or is Jose fonte looking slightly like he'd rather be somewhere else?

Maybe, maybe not . Let's put it this way if you had been working for a company for 6 years or so and thought you were good at your job and not been promoted and another company came in and offered you twice the money and a company car would you at least think about it . Loyalty these days always has it's price . I honestly believe Jose will stay but you can't blame him if he did go, I wouldn't .

2.) 08 Aug 2016 19:51:50
Agree whole heartedly that loyalty is hard to find nowadays
I'm very sure that Claude is aware that Fonte is not getting any younger and seems to be stalling on an extended contract.

Therefore again sure that a good young CB is being looked at at this moment in time. Would be sorry to see him go but he's been a tower of strength for the last 6 years . Hope he stays at least for another - we can only wait and see.

Hi SaintPete here, first time on here. I think Jose has been a fantastic, loyal player for Saints. People like him and Kelvin Davis have helped new and young players adhere to the Southampton way! I personally wouldn't criticise him for leaving, unlike certain other ex. players!

Read on Sky Sports that he is happy at Southampton. But could be tempted away by a world class club that have champions league football. Can't blame he tbh, he is a Euro's winner.

Anyone know if these rumours on fonte have any truth in them . I have seen a possible 9 million pound bid from Koeman . And utd have interest . I hope our caplain has seen the grass is not always greener on the other side if true.

I've just seen the list of players heading to the U. S . I noticed no Long . Forster or yoshida? Extended holiday maybe or simple error?
