I need to know Liverpool were supposed to have ended interest so how can all this still be going on without it being illegal. Southampton haven't gave anyone permission to speak to him.

The Saint 92

{Ed033's Note - Klopp is the new Special One?

1.) 30 Jul 2017 15:44:25
It goes on BECAUSE they haven't said anything they get their ex players and tame press to do all their dirty work that way they can hold their hands up and say "it's not us guv " but it is an orchestrated campaign by the club itself to unsettle and get him on the cheap.

I hope the board stand firm and don't sell his price will only go up when we do decide to sell and besides he owes us over 2 million pounds in sick pay for the last 7 months.

2.) 30 Jul 2017 16:55:16
His value won't go up if he doesn't play or if he spits his dummy out all year next season. Fonte.

3.) 30 Jul 2017 20:43:42
the likelyhood of him going to the world cup won't go up if he doesn't play or spits his dummy out all season either.

24 Jul 2017 16:53:03
I keep seeing that Liverpool won't move in on VVD unless we say it's ok well then stop getting ex players to say how much they want him it's a absolute joke the premier league need to do something.

The Saint 92

1.) 24 Jul 2017 20:12:28
That's how they do business through rumours and half truths and outright lies it's all designed to unsettle players and drive the price down because the player is already committed to them in his head they get them to say they want to leave without actually putting in a official request so they don't miss out on thier loyalty bonus ( that's a joke ) the PL Is a joke they are gutless and toothless they protect the so called big clubs forgetting that there are 22 bulbs in the premier league not just SIX.

2.) 25 Jul 2017 00:06:13
There's 20 teams in the Premiership.

02 Jul 2017 18:29:08
It's not a rumours or anything I'd just like to say the best of luck to jay rod at West Brom they have got a great player I hope he comes back to his best.

Agree 1 million percent - fairytale wise I'm gutted but hope it breathes fresh life into him and he's able to find fitness and form . just not against us.

Is it just me or would you rather VVD went anywhere other than Liverpool even if it was as cheaper price.

The Saint 92

1.) 31 Jul 2017 11:36:05
Absolutely! Big club mentality but think couthinio should stay when Barcelona come calling.

2.) 31 Jul 2017 12:26:00
Oh come off it. You big girls blouse.
I guess the proper Saints fans should be glad those running their club don't have infantile dispositions such as yourself.

If VVD is sold, rest assured it'll be for the best price for the club. Feelings of immature and uninformed fans as yourself WON'T be a consideration AT ALL. Deal with it.

IF Southampton makes VVD available, Liverpool want him and meet asking and VVD wants the move. it WILL happen. Your opinions about/ dislike of Liverpool hold BUGGER ALL sway. least so with Van Dijk.

If you unhappy about it. tough. Maybe do something about it. Start hate campaign (against who I don't know. Don't buy season tickets or club merchandise. Better still, jump off a cliff.

Football's a cutthroat business that has little time or sympathy for dreamy romanticists and their archaic fantasies.

The year is 2017. Football is a business. Sadio Mane, Adam Lallana and Virgil Van Dijk are no Matt le Tissier. The world doesn't revolve around Southampton. Harsh realities, I know. but is what it is.

Move on.

3.) 31 Jul 2017 14:18:24
So you don't agree then.

4.) 31 Jul 2017 14:51:50
Don't mean to pry but honestly why are you so bothered about what saints fans think?

5.) 31 Jul 2017 15:51:18
Because he proberly lives in pompey and never been to anfield.

6.) 31 Jul 2017 19:46:16
Who even is this guy? It's a bit much "jump off a cliff" keeps saying the world doesn't evolve around Southampton. which can't be true can it?!

7.) 31 Jul 2017 18:39:06
Congrats on all the big words you googled just for that response Suku Langa, they were almost enough for me to ignore all the punctuation mistakes and think you're actually literate.

{Ed033's Note - Suku Langa appears to be living in South Africa.

8.) 31 Jul 2017 23:55:31
Lol now read it with South African accident
Sounds better lol.

9.) 31 Jul 2017 23:56:12
Better still scouse African.

10.) 01 Aug 2017 11:50:14
"Big girl's blouse?" (Added the apostrophe in). Definitely learnt English from Liverpool fan sites.

Please leave us to have infantile dispositions by ourselves thank you very much.

11.) 01 Aug 2017 15:16:56
Nothing wrong with scouse Africans boys ;)

12.) 01 Aug 2017 17:01:12
Top lads mate.

13.) 01 Aug 2017 18:04:57
We have our moments 87 ;)

23 Jul 2017 19:06:33
Is there away that fans can petition to have Liverpool banned from transfers because this illegal tapping is gone too far.

The Saint 92

{Ed002's Note - No, the club can make a formal complaint to the Premier League (who would like to avoid taking any action as it opens a potential can of worms) which they have done. It sits on file and Southampton can push for an investigation and, if appropriate charges to be made, by contacting the Premier League again.}

21 Jul 2017 07:21:16
I'd like to know why the he'll Liverpool is apparently such a attractive club to go to they haven't won anything for ages they don't even look like they're going to VVD is a top class Cb and could get into any team in the league so why Liverpool.

The Saint 92

1.) 21 Jul 2017 10:56:27
Bang on the money The Saint 92. Couldn't have put it better. If he was going anywhere he'd be better off at Chelsea or City or even Spuds! Personally if he stays another 12 months Barcelona PSG or RM will come calling.
Not many of our players who gone to Liverpool have improved. Most have stagnated. So quite baffling. Didn't think the Dutch and the Germans liked each other particularly!

2.) 21 Jul 2017 11:02:14
Adam Lallana says they are plus they double the wages they get at Saints.

3.) 21 Jul 2017 11:34:17
I understand they get double the wage but they haven't accomplished anything for a long time and they don't have the pulling power to sign players from big teams so they look at us and think we'll take them because we can give them more money it's a absolute joke.

4.) 21 Jul 2017 13:12:22
Let's hope all the Barcelona ex players come iut and say coutinho should join them and see how Liverpool enjoy him being unsettled.

{Ed001's Note - you probably have not noticed, but the current ones have already been doing so, particularly Neymar.}

5.) 21 Jul 2017 13:49:32
I think klopp himself is probably more of a draw than Liverpool. Seems like he could make a difference there and if I was a player then he's the kind of manager I'd love to play for.

Agree though - if I was VVD I'd wait a year and hope Barcelona come knocking.

6.) 21 Jul 2017 17:32:13
HI Ed, I am intrigued to hear what someone like yourself, with considerable first hand knowledge of the game, feels about such things as the VVD 'situation'. do you think clubs should do what Saints are doing and leave the player to have a think? What if any is the solution? thank you.

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea what the club can do when things reach this point, really it should be down to the FA, who are there (supposedly) to enforce the rules, then UEFA and FIFA if needed. I hate to see this tapping up, it is a pointless thing to do, VVD wanted to go anyway, Saints knew that before January, that he wanted to go this summer.

To be perfectly honest, the whole situation has turned into a mess. Soton are signing players with promises they will let them move on in the future when the opportunity arises. Then they don't want to let them go when that opportunity presents itself because it doesn't suit them. That's fine, but stop making promises you will sell then! I know it is difficult for the club, as they want to build a stronger side, rather than keep losing all their best players each season. However they have got themselves in this situation by reneging on agreements made when they sign players.

VVD (like a string of other players) have shown themselves to be spoilt brats and just care about what they want. So none of them are coming out of this looking good either. However, to be fair to the players, they have all believed they would be allowed to leave and are only after the move they believe the club had told them they could have when they joined in the first place.

It is Liverpool (and other clubs in the past) that are the problem in the end. If they would all approach Southampton in the legal way, then I am sure that they could have had business done without any acrimony. Fonte last season could have been at Man Utd, but the Saints were furious about the way he was approached. It gave Soton an excuse to renege on their agreements and caused more issues for everyone and no one ended up winning in that case.

The FA need to do more to crack down on illegal approaches. If there is no enforcement of rules, then everyone just does what they want and we end up with the mess that is currently happening. It has to come from the top or anarchy rules and the strongest will win, which means the richest will have their own way. Which is the way it is already heading, sadly.}

7.) 21 Jul 2017 18:18:34
Thank you! I asked the question and appreciate receiving an amazing, informative, thoughtful, honest and thought provoking answer :-) Thanks Ed001.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

8.) 21 Jul 2017 20:19:50
Surely the club aren't telling these players that they can go after one or 2 seasons though? I know contracts mean sod all now apart from making a player more expensive, but they surely aren't saying that as soon as a big club shows interest the player can go? .

Like you said I guess if things were done legitimately in the first place deals would be done but saints are trying to make some sort of a stand against underhand tactics.

Are they not saying "give us 3 good seasons and we'll sell when we get a suitable offer?

{Ed007's Note - They might well be doing that mate, how do you think you got Wanyama, Forster and VVD from Celtic? We sell the club to potential players as a chance to play in Europe and as a stepping stone to England and the club won't stand in the way if a suitable offer comes along. No offence to Southampton but maybe they tell players that they have a chance of moving to a 'bigger' club or a CL team. I wish the VVD thing would hurry up though, we need our share off the cash to hopefully sign Paddy Roberts :)

16 Jul 2017 22:26:17
For everyone who is worried about our lack of movement in the transfer market no need to worry we never broadcast the deals we're going to do we don't do what Liverpool and all that do and feel we have to force players here.

I don't understand why when all us fans are saying their best 11 they pick gabbiadini I know he done well for the first few games he played but the last time he scored was the cup final I think Austin is a better option obviously when fit.

The Saint 92

1.) 10 Jul 2017 14:34:58
? 😳😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.

2.) 10 Jul 2017 14:49:53
I think he was totally disjointed in the style of play. he became totally isolated and that as a striker means you look like you're doing nothing. but from what I saw his finishing, his movement, reading of the game and knowledge makes him look like a starter for me. Alongside a target man so long and Austin would be bench if we got a really good target man.

3.) 10 Jul 2017 15:56:47
Have you seen gabbiadini playing for italy recently? He's immense and is scoring goals for them. You need to get the ball to the striker for him to score goals.

4.) 10 Jul 2017 23:44:50
Gabbiandini's reading of the game is IMMENSE . he reminds me of Teddy S or Alan Shearer . knows exactly when to go, when to hold. basically, he knows EXACTLY where the goal is! just give him the damn ball!

5.) 11 Jul 2017 08:10:55
I'm not saying he's not a good but you e just listed the things that makes Austin as good as he is he's always in the right place at the right time and you can rely on him to find the net.

6.) 11 Jul 2017 20:29:05
Charlie Austin not in the same league as Gabbi .
Gabbiandini scores out of nothing, makes space, creates chances from nothing .

7.) 15 Jul 2017 12:20:46
Agree on his movement Rich; Gabbi looks a class striker (though I don't see the Shearer comparison at all) and his movement reminds me of watching suarez for liverpool a few years back. Great nose for goal and should be one of the first names on the team sheet going into next year.

I think we need someone who can unlock a defence Bougainville redmond and tadic are good but they all lack the consistency to make a killer pass.

By today's prices I'd say that about average for a player if his ability he scores goals and assists won't fund many better for less.

I was there I agree tadic flatters to deceive boufal seemed far to predictable at times Austin looked really good.
I was concerned when he came off I know a lot of the team changed but we never looked like scoring for the last 15-20.
