Being totally honest, if I could hand pick a RB that I think we'd maybe have a shot at signing, I'd take Mario Gaspar from Villarreal. But if we're stuck with a choice of Van der Wiel or Janmaat I'd like to at least take a player that'll show some balls when things get tough.

Could possibly see Mané to Arsenal happening, but not without us getting some serious money in return for him. Praet I think would be quite a good signing all I've also heard little bits and pieces about us being interested in Hakim Ziyech from FC Twente, and I think that if we're looking for a number 10 type player, he'd be the better option. As for Long to Leicester, I just can't see it happening. He's at a club where he's very comfortable, got a good run of form going, a manager and set of fans that have actually backed him and let's be honest, are Leicester realistically in a better position than us? I don't think so, yeah they've won the league but they haven't had that same level of CONSISTENT improvement that we've had for the past 3 years, at least we've maintained a sustainable position with means to push on.

Personally don't think he's any better than Cédric. Was one of the first players this season to show how absolutely gutless he could be at Newcastle and he lacks defensively in a mental sense (more so than Cédric, I feel) . Of the 2 that we've been linked with, I'd rather pay the extra wages and get Van der Wiel. He's a far better player, especially defensively but is still very good going forwards.

I'm personally a big fan of van der Wiel's, I think he'd offer a good medium between Cédric and Cuco as an all round full back. My only issue with him is that he's on massive money at PSG (we're talking about £75K) but he may be willing to take a cut for first team football and a shot back in the Netherlands team. Personally I'd like to see us tracking Kenny Tete, because he seems like a phenomenally composed defender for a 20 year old full back and I think he'd work well as an outside CB in the 3 at the back we've used as well. (Would probably be looking at a £6-10 million transfer fee for him, but much lower wages and a lot more potential)

I'd take Wijnaldum over any other player at Newcastle. He showed at the start of the season that he's able to adapt very quickly and with him being one of very few shining lights in that Newcastle team, as well as being a versatile option (can play in the middle of the park, out wide or up top) imagine how much better he'd be with a better side around him.
