If we sign Townsend and alderweireld I apologise to the board for my previous comments, except about the stadium, because with these two signings roko is sending out a message that only youngish international calibre players are good enough Alderweireld, Tadic, Townsend, Gardos, Forster = internationals. I was looking at Townsend last year before he got injured and I thought if we could get him he would have been ideal. Now I think Rodriguez on the left Townsend on the right Pelle up top with Tadic behind :) if they gel quick could b lethal and stronger and more goals than last year

dantheman1610

1.) We were all angry that Lallana, Shaw, Lambert (and especially) Lovren left. let's not apologize, but see hope in the positive steps made by the board to rebuild the squad. If you got to be angry. be angry at those 4 players alone. they bailed out on contracts. they let the club down. and they let us fans down.

. let's all enjoy the fact we now have a proven European manager, who is much less arrogant than the last one, and we are truly on the right path to stability and long term success.

I save a tiny bit of anger for Mopo, but i'm glad we didn't try to stop him in the way Hoddle was lauded out of the club with banners crying "don't go".

see you down the job center in 6 months Poch.

2.) Townsend will not be joining saints, capel or mane to sign better options in my eyes

3.) There should be no saints fan angry at rickie the other 3 yer but rickie was different no one should forget what he done for us we would not be where we are now if it wasnt SRL

4.) 01 Sep 2014 13:10:11
i thank alan pardew for signing rickie lambert , morgan schniderlain , jose fonte. without him , we wouldn't be where we are now

5.) Morgan was at the club long before Pardew mate.

6.) 01 Sep 2014 14:29:10
Capel or Townsend not joining, mane or Redmond to come in

7.) You think SLR is going to get games at liverpool? he will be lucky to warm the bench.

8.) 01 Sep 2014 18:01:35
Your right , he was a Jan Poortvliet signing

9.) 01 Sep 2014 18:15:29
I think there are few people who should apoligise to KL for some pretty unwarrented remarks concerning her running of with the cash.

10.) We made 40m+ this window. the only other team to make money was swansea. they made 2.5m.

So here's a question Morgan says today he's here till the end of the season. I can't see it I think he's off in Jan but who could we replace him with the obvious is clasie but he's just signed a new contract so would demand a big fee anyone else u guys can think of because I think for the way we play has always been based around Morgan's passing ability, energy and vision I think he is 1 player who is the most difficult to replace

dantheman1610

1.) We already have them in Jack Cork, Harrison Reed and Dominic Gape. However I would get Will Hughes from Derby if we had to buy.

2.) 09 Oct 2014 13:30:15
will hughes is one of the worse players I've seen, wasnt impressed one bit by him. could have had an off day which everyone has. but he's not that great, gues that's why he's never left derby .
i would sign
Mateo Kovačić 20 year old from inter
Stephan El Shaarawy from Ac milan
Meyer Maximilian from shalke
Memphis Depay from psv
not saying get them all, but there all young players who have a bright future

3.) I don't think Morgan will go in January. Especially if we're still in top six at that time. If he were to be replaced it'll probably be someone who none of us have heard of though. Another gem dished up from the great work our scouting team do.

4.) Cyberchris you must be joking! Will Hughes is quality!!

5.) 13 Oct 2014 11:10:54
st sam , have you ever watched him play ?

29 Aug 2014 13:02:59
This is the in my opinion the best team we could put out with current squad if everyone is fit
Forster (gk)

Clyne (rb)
Fonte (cb) (c)
Gardos/yoshida (cb)
Bertrand (lb)

Wanyama (dm)
Ward prowse/ramirez (cm)
Davis/cork (cm)

Rodriguez/ Ramirez (lw)
Tadic/ramirez (rw)

Pelle/long (st)

Now if any of u think this is a stronger team than last year agree if u don't disagree obviously dependant on Ramirez fitness and how good gardos turns out to b we could b but I doubt it I would say we'll finish 12th

dantheman1610

1.) 29 Aug 2014 13:25:06
Seems that Morgan has been sold then?

2.) 29 Aug 2014 13:55:31
Best team we could put out. you have selected 17 players that is hardly selecting a team is it

3.) Should say ward prowse/spider, my bad. And tommo does the post not state at the dependant on Ramirez fitness and how good gardos is and as for Ramirez none of us have seen enough of him to know his best position though imo I don't think he is a winger due to lack of pace so possibly the ward prowse role against Liverpool and drop prowsey into Davis' position

4.) Ramirez is I suspect a lot more suited to the cam role in the prem but he made most of an impact from the winger position when he was at bologna. He had had it bad with fitness and then he was homesick. Then got back in the team scored from outside the box against Newcastle then in the suderland game wes brown nearly snapped his ankle from behind witch put him out again and. If davis with his tenacious play had ramirez skill and vision he would be one of the best in the world. Ramirez just needs fitness and a manager who trust him and he will set the prem alight

5.) How many players do you want to pick for one team!

Agree/Disagree buttons are on the 'rumour' tab.

My team would be:

Forster

Clyne Fonte Gardos Bertrand

Schneiderlin Wanyama

Tadic Davis JWP

Pelle

If we were at home, I would consider playing Long & Pelle together.

Right I was in a good mood yesterday and still am in a way today as I have just come to the reality. We are never going to witness cl league football at sms,
1 it was not built for this it is far too small for this.
2 we are never going to attract the top players to help the great youngsters we produce on a conveyor belt to get us there
3 said conveyor belt of great youth players is there to produce money for whatever owner is in place and it's not kl fault football is a business now
4 if we built a bigger stadium to increase revenue would we fill it to attract bigger players, no ( apparently cortese was looking at building a new stadium better access routes parking and with bigger capacity to increase revenue to compete at higher level but this was 1 of the reasons kl stepped in as the proposal was put forward to her as the owner and didn't want to shell out the money)
I am only saying what I have heard, don't shoot I know the truth hurts but this is the reality. As I've said football is seen as a business now and we don't need to compete in cl to make a big profit when we have the academy we have always had and produced great players with to boost income.

dantheman1610

1.) The entire 'running it as a business' surely a good thing.
There is very little money to be made from running a football club as the outlays are so huge, running a sustainable club is surely the aim.
Saying never is rash, not in the next few years for sure but look at Everton, run responsibly for years and now has the disposable income to spend big on a world class player, and they have a real shot at top 4 this season.
I would much rather see saints build steadily, turn a profit and maybe one day challenge the 'big boys' than spend big, and risk missing out on cl and ending up in huge debt!

2.) I am not complaining at all I remember how close we came to not having a club to support at all I'm just trying to get everyone to realise where we are because I remember the league 1 days. I'm happy for the club to b run responsibly but also there is potential here as we are the biggest club on the south coast and should have a bigger fan base than we do if we were to fulfil our potential there shilould b no reason we can't fill out a 50/60 thousand seater stadium to increase revenue I'm sure this is what cortese was thinking and he saw the potential but do this new board? I'm not so sure are we just going to b a selling club as long as their in charge I think the latter hence why their has been no future plan outlined by the board as to the direction the club is heading, but if selling players we've produce for a couple of seasons is to fund a new stadium to at least attempt to try and compete in years to come I am all for after all arsenal had to do it and look strong this year. I would just like to know where we are heading with this new board.

3.) 28 Aug 2014 21:13:47
just a question really
can anyone tell me what krueger actually does or has done
that is beneficial to southampton fc
because I can't find anything

Imo we should forget Townsend although I do think he has great potential every1 keeps going on about how selfish he is look at the best players in the world (messi, ronaldo, bale, neymar) u have to have that selfish streak to be the best!?!?!? Although like I said imo we should buy Redmond, alderweireld and look at bringing in another striker but not a necessity until Jan as I would like to see Gallagher push on this year

dantheman1610

1.) Also I would like to ask does any1 know how the club are preparing to pay tribute to the late, great Markus leibherr I was hoping for a stand to b named after him but unless I'm mistaken the club denied that this was their plan. Although I think it would b a great tribute to the man who saved our club and could also b just the thing to help the players gel quicker and start fighting for the club and each other

2.) 27 Aug 2014 13:26:07
Don't think they want to name a stand after him. If Katerina does decide to pull out in the near future it would be an uneasy situation to have the Leibherr name plastered all over the place. Stands are normally named after long standing individuals that have been associated with the club for many, many years. They have already said they are going to do something appropriate to show a sign of thanks and respect. I personally would name the stadium after Marcus but that is a personal feeling but unfortunately big business these days does not have a sentimental bone in it's corporate body.

Do u know what I rate long as a player he causes problems and frees up space for others also this signing would give us the depth we've been crying out for and most importantly options. I am no longer going to b negative no I don't think we have the quality we did but these signings still show ambition which I thought we'd lost but the only shame is as I've said before the board is being mislead by reed I think the sooner they get a decent footballer as an advisor or whatever role he has these signings will happen bring in le god to replace reed

I personally would cash in get Townsend and mane just for extra options. We never know what way j rod will go after this injury remember cisse and Torres had major injuries lost their pace never the same players but then u've got the ramsays that have had bad injuries n come back stronger but can we afford to turn down a Townsend plus 14 mill cash and he doesn't come back stronger I don't think we can

I also believe this to b wishful thinking think the papers r looking at what's gone on in the past and yes we do have strong Italian links signing a player from Italy almost every season papa waigo, guly, osvaldo but we have got our Italian for this season in taider and I hope he's turns out better than his predecessors from Italy think our scout over their should get the boot ;)

I certainly feel Rodwell and Sinclair would b good additions can't comment on guidetti as I haven't seen him play but the only problem I see is where would rodwell play because the three as I see it right now is wanyama, spider n cork unless 1 of these leave and on top of this we have Steven Davis n jwp who I feel could have a big breakthrough season this year but Sinclair I want as I feel we lack natural wingers

Am I wrong when thinking back when Markus leibherr passed (god bless his soul) the rumour flying around was that katherina did not want the club. Now I am still hoping for players to sign etc but doubts keep creeping into my mind and this is the latest 1. Have we not all been fooled in believing that she wants to continue forward as her dad would have she couldn't sell at the time because the 5 year plan him and cortese set up along with the money was supposedly in markus' will. Also thinking about it if he knew his daughter would keep the club with its best interests at heart as he had why did he even feel the need to put said plan in his will.

Firstly let's get it right how many players signed from the Orem league have been good enough to make it in the premier league I can think of only 2 (suarez and van nistelrooy). Vlaar is not a good enough replacement for lovren and he is 29 with him and fonte we would lack pace at the back. The same can also b said of the 2 players coming from Celtic Scottish football is league 1 standard wanyama was supposed to b the best thing since sliced bread but hasn't got a patch on cork or spider. I don't like being negative but reed needs to b ousted imo considering he himself admits he is in charge of transfers and contracts so has sold 5 of our starting 11 to date without even putting up a fight. But is dawdling spending any of it they say we have a war chest of supposedly a 100 million now well where has the premier leagueand sky money gone because we have raised the 100 million from selling surely koeman had say even a 20 million budget before payers even left. And debt wise we are in more than 30 million in debt so the sale of Shaw covered that on his own. I was very doubtful the moment Gareth Rogers and Ralf Kruger were put in charge neither of them are football men and clearly katherina either hasn't got the passion for the club her father did or she is being led down the wrong path into a bramble Bush by reed Kruger and rogers. I feel sorry for all my fellow fans who have already bought their season tickets and shirts I for 1 will purchasing neither untill I see at least the 100 million reinvested in the squad it's not like they need the money from shirt sale with what they've pulled in through transfers. Very disheartened lifelong fan who is rapidly falling out of love with the game what with everything happening at sms and with England x

I think reed and targett will make the bench, for some reason I get the impression Gallagher is not a youngster roko likes not in the squad even when we have no strikers on the bench which is a shame as he's sort of in between pelle/guidetti what I thought roko likes as a striker tall strong etc seager I don't think is rokos type of striker at all which is a real shame and as for McCarthy it's so hard for prem teams to trust young unproven cbs as it's a vital part of the team and mistakes will get punished at this level hence hardly any good young English cbs in the game at all

We don't know how effective Jay rod will b up top he played off the left last season and I seriously doubt if he will come back the same player his game was based on pace and will he get that back after this injury??? We need a top class striker Ron obviously doesn't rate Gardos who is going to turn out to b another forren

I think we need 3 more players we need another striker as Pelle is our only option we need an attacking cm/winger with goalscoring prowess and another chi who could also rb we need quality options not cover
