Hey saints supporters

Has anyone heard of MU interest in Jose Fonte?

Been a few reports we are interested and I'd love it to be true

Cheers.

In you dreams mate. As much chance of Fonte going to Manchester United as of them signing Messi. Two hopes -Bob Hope and no hope. While you guys are throwing money around (still smiling at paying over £100 million for a guy you chucked out a while back) how about £5mill for our tea lady, £4 Mill for our programme seller and £2 mill for our ball boys? Quick before we put them on e-bay. Anyway come on site anytime you want -should have invested heavily in getting fergie back. See the flying swede got a goal yesterday. Can't wait for the EPL defence to get at him. He won't find it easy here and can see him getting a few cards for retaliation. Byeeeeeee.

Jesus Christ blob week is it 😂.

3.) 31 Jul 2016 14:58:04
Sorry dave do you really want to pay 20+ for a 33 year old defender who has about 2 seasons left in him? Your mad you've already paid out 25mill for Morgan who has had such a bad season he didn't make the France squad.

4.) 31 Jul 2016 15:03:49
That was nearly funny Dave. See if you're still laughing at the end of the season mate. If you can't stand friendly banter ask mum to take you down the local parks and run off your frustrations. I work with a few Man U supporters and they are not touchy like you. There are quite a few other club supporters and at no time do we retort to insults - still that's the difference between adults and you. Anyway can't wait to see how we fare at Old Trafford 2nd match in. It's live on the Friday night -my prediction ' a draw''

5.) 31 Jul 2016 15:38:43
On one hand Fonte is the person who makes the dressing room tick, he looks after new signings plus he takes Saints, the 'Southampton Way' (whatever that is) and the Captaincy very seriously. On the other hand last season he was quoted as mentioning going back to Portugal to the big two and even mentioned the top 4 here in the PL as something you could never say never to. I think the Club have been looking at getting a replacement in for him for a couple of seasons and haven't managed it and lastly exactly what Pony said, may mean Jose would want his last big move of his career to work under a Portugeezer?

6.) 31 Jul 2016 15:43:16
I will try and answer your intended question Dave . I don't think for one minute you would try to sign Jose but if you did and offered crazy money to him and our club it just might happen . If Jose left us it would be with a very heavy heart but just like Pelle considering their ages the chance of a massive pay day might be a a difficult chance to turn down . I would never hold that against Jose if that extremely unlikely situation arose but truthfully just can't see it being any more than fantasy paper talk as usual. By the way can we have Morgan back please?

7.) 31 Jul 2016 15:51:45
Man u can s*d off if they want fonte.

8.) 31 Jul 2016 16:16:30
Let's hope les read is not licking his lips again, with the thought of more money going into the bank.

9.) 31 Jul 2016 17:03:15
I agree. I would not begrudge Jose a move to one of the mentioned clubs. He has been with us and has been key in our revival. I wouldn't like to see him go. But if he did, this would be the only position I'd say to the club, get a solid big name in.

10.) 31 Jul 2016 17:14:41
Just my opinion but come the 13th August Jose Fonte will be out in the middle with the Watford captain. Media have got a bit bored and jumping on any snippets. Still agree that anything can happen and a huge offer might change Saints stance. But I'm confident that Jose will stay. We'll see. Can't wait for the new season to start. Again we will prove the doubters wrong. COYR's.

11.) 31 Jul 2016 18:18:12
Fonte can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned. He is a great guy and fantastic player. I'm not surprised that Manchester United are linked, strangely enough I actually hope it's true. The lad deserves to be linked to a big team and it be more than just talk. It would do him the world of good and make him see just how great a player he is. Although I'd be surprised if he did leave saints as he seams to bleed red and white. Fonte, you can do as you please, you will always be considered as important a player to us as Thierry Henry was at arsenal.

12.) 31 Jul 2016 18:54:56
The reason I don't want him to go to man u is because all the players that they seem to buy become a complete flop. For a start there's schniederlin, then you've got di maria, falcao, depay, the list goes on and on so I don't think it would be fair on fonte to let him go there.

13.) 31 Jul 2016 20:34:24
The Club have offered Fonte a pay rise to make him top earner, plus new contract deals on the table for Cedric and Tadic.

14.) 31 Jul 2016 20:52:08
Koeman reportedly offered £9m for Fonte with Utd needing to offload defenders before buying.

15.) 01 Aug 2016 08:41:24
as it stands am I right in saying Fonte only has a year left on his contract? Edds do you have any info?

{Ed002's Note - Two years.}

Thanks Ed002.

Hi eds

A quick question to any of you.

Anything new in regards to schneiderlin? It seems MU made a bid which was rejected and I'm just wondering if interest has moved on or is something still expected to happen between the two.

I appreciate this has been done to death so if you wish not answer this delete this post.

Cheers

{Ed001's Note - last I heard United were likely to come back in for him. I am a bit surprised it is not done yet, as Southampton are agreeable to selling him to a team in the Champions League and he wants a team in the Champions League.}

It seems obvious that Morgan schneiderlin is leaving I'm just wondering who you think he'll end up signing for?

I really hope he signs for United I think he'd slot into our line up very nicely.

Whoever stumps up the money, basically. If we take him at his word, that he'll only leave for a CL club, the options are limited.

I don't think Chelsea will be in for him (although I think a Matic-Schneiderlin axis in midfield would be virtually impenetrable). City could potentially take a look, as he counts as a home-grown player and they're desperately short of them. But I haven't read or heard anything about them being interested.

Arsenal have been forever linked, but Wenger's pretty loathe to spend big on "defensive" players.

Tottenham are keen, but cheap, and don't have Champions League to offer.

We'll just assume Liverpool are probably interested, on account of him being a Southampton player.

So, all signs point to United, if A) they actually want him and B) he wants to stay in England. There's always the possibility of PSG offering to take him home, I suppose.

Personally, I think Saints are undervaluing him at £25m. James Milner went for more than that. Fellaini went for more than that. They're not in Schneiderlin's class.

2.) 19 Jun 2015 00:01:42
It'll only be obvious once someone actually makes a bid and one that matches the club's valuation! For some reason both Arsenal and United are balking at the idea of paying £25 million or more and are looking at cheaper targets according to the press.

3.) 19 Jun 2015 01:22:19
Personally I think it will be United Dave. In his own words, he wants to stay in England and play CL football. Arsenal could yet come back in for him but media are suggesting they have turned attention elsewhere, possibly due to fee required.

United are the most likely to snap him up and arguably need a player like him in the centre. In my opinion he is one of the league's best.

Its reported that Tottenham have recently enquired, which would be an odd move for Morgan as it wouldn't be the step forward to CL. but money often talks!

4.) 19 Jun 2015 10:45:02
If Spider moves within EPL it will probably be to Utd. Don't get carried away with the £25m-that is press speculation only. Can you really see him being sold for less than Shaw?

Saints will likely follow the same path as with Clyne-sign a potential replacement, then tell any "suitors"-"you pay our price or no deal". For Clyne I suspect this is around £15m and Spider £30m. If I am close, they could both remain at Saints for next season.

I agree ed001 I think he would be an automatic starter have you heard if there's any truth to mufc interest

Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - there is interest yes, it is up to the player now to decide if he wants the move or not. Similar to the Williams move, the club will not stand in his way if he wants the move, though they would prefer him to stay.}
