Saints to sign Forster over Marshall as. Celtic willing to accept less then what Cardiff want for Marshall and caulker to join us over qpr due to our philosophy of showcasing English talent

gazzasaint

1.) Caulker having a medical at QPR sky sports news!

2.) A journo at the game said last night that Saints were never in for Caulker.

3.) So much disinformation. I trust the manager to get this right! only slight concern is that we are trying to get players on the cheap, when every one knows we have the money!players will come in shortly and we will have a good mix of youth and experience. really looking forward to a great season. onwards and upwards.

4.) Really I want Marshall with us

5.) 22 Jul 2014 14:39:22
yet another very low offer put in, this time Forster. The guy is worth ten so pay it, or he will go some where else!Every top side builds from the back, with the best they can afford, so come on saints, go and get him!!

6.) Just because we have the money why do we have to pay over the odds? Good financial management!

How is this trying to get players on the cheap?

7.) 22 Jul 2014 15:33:39
I really am very uncomfortable with the way we are doing our negotiating. Its all very well being careful with money, but sometimes you have to pay the price and not take the mickey.

8.) 8m would get him. we offered 4m, what a liberty.

07 Jul 2014 17:12:17
Heard numerous rumours today regarding us bringing in the following players what do you guys think
1. John ruddy (norwich 4m)
2. Scott Sinclair ( man city 5 m)
3. John obi mikel ( Chelsea )
4. Matteo mussachio (Villarreal 6m)
5. Lucas digne (psg 9m)

gazzasaint

1.) Can't see ruddy happening as I don't think him and Watson get on, may be wrong but I'm sure I heard that somewhere

2.) Personally I can't see any of them happening especially mikel and ruddy.

3.) Lucas Digne is supposed to be a class player with great potential but not sure he would leave psg to come to us without guaranteed first team slot. I can't believe that Korman won't have a few targets outside of linked Dutch players but so far I don't see marquee player. Taichung looks good but is he a big name??

4.) Digne will not likely sign, but he would be garunteed first team, giving target more experience/competition, Sinclair is a risky one, no one really knows his full potential as he never gets game time which we could give him, if we were to sign him up then it would have to be for a lot less than £5million

5.) No to all of them

6.) Re Scott sinclair, i'm pretty sure the only reason he continues to be linked with us is because his brother is coming through the academy currently (I'm sure I read that somewhere?). That said, I can't see him joining us as his wages are too high & his move to man city backfired & spent too long on the bench thus not gaining any experience etc.

7.) 07 Jul 2014 21:44:51
Im getting so bored with all this lack of action that I don't care if Reed signs Bill and Ben the flower pot men so long as he signs someone. don't think Tadic is happening somehow think we can rely on Les to screw that up big time

8.) 07 Jul 2014 22:34:38
Hang on in there Montecristo. Having to appoint a new manager meant we were always going to gain on other clubs but getting it right is what matters. By the time of the press conference things will look much rosier.
Does PSG have enough ambition for Louvren?

9.) Just a quick question- actually what has mr reed screwed up? Lambert went to live out his dream and everyone wishes him well. Lallana has had one decent season and I'll hold my hands up I really rate him but mr reed has got decent money for him. Shaw 20 months ago was only just breaking in to first team he wants to go and we get over 30 mil for him, I have no idea how that isn't awesome business. Yes in another 6 years he might be worth more but well he wanted to leave and who knows in 6 years he might be worth a lot less. Mr reed continue the good work.

10.) Well said Picky. We've got great money in for Shaw and Lallana to the point that other fans are calling us greedy. that's a first in my books.
That said it would be good to see some of that re-invested sooner rather then later. There are players out there getting snapped up which in turn shrinks the pot we can pick from.

11.) Regardless of who we bring in, players like chambers, ward prowse, cork, reeves may shine under koeman. Ward prowse especially. I don't think ward prowse was playing his best position. He played quality in a DM role for England u21. Let's remember both lallana and shaw came through the academy as well, so we could see others making the step up. The only positions I'm really worried about is cb and a striker.

12.) 08 Jul 2014 10:56:34
Reed sold three key players without first signing replacements which frankly is stupid.First because it will push up the asking price of every player we go after in the transfer market, and secondly he capitulated to Lallana, set a precedent so every player wanting to leave is doing so by throwing toys out of his pram. Reed is naive , not a businessman, not qualified to deal with large business transactions, hence the lack of results so far. He may yet secure Tadic, and really needs to, as Everton are sniffing, this deal should have been wrapped up ages ago. Which makes me nervous apart from annoyed.

13.) @montecristo: what are you even taking about?! The transfer window has been open for a week! Reed sold 3 players in that time who didn't want to be here and were upsetting other members of the squad. There is no rush to buy players either, transfers take time, calm down.

As already said, Lambert left to fulfil his dream, nobody would deny him that. Shaw, although a very talented player has been sold for a lot more than he's worth, plus his wages were probably quadrupled; it takes more than will power to say 'no' to £100,000 per week. Lastly Lallana, a captain who didn't want to play for the club, a man becoming more self involved as time went on and a man who decided to leave at the worst time when he should be setting an example. Lallana also is not worth what he was sold for. Reed has done all he can, the best with what he has and he'll continue to do so; he got close to 60 million for two players who didn't want to be here, two players not worth that amount - he got more for Lallana and Shaw than AC Milan got for Ibrahimović & Thisgo Silva.

Stop doubting people, it does no one any good. Support the team, that's why we're here.

After hearing of the laughable j-rod to Newcastle rumour I've now heard today that Leicester looking into j-rod dream on boys dream on!!!

gazzasaint

1.) 06 Jun 2014 18:01:18
Bless them

05 Jun 2014 21:04:47
A couple of rumours I've heard today not sure on the substance of either but thought I'd share them

Manchester United to bid 16 million for dejan lovren
Newcastle to bid 7.5 million plus Ben Arfa for j-rod

I know the second was in laughable!!!!

gazzasaint

1.) You're right the second one is laughable, oh dear that's a shocker

01 Jun 2014 19:55:12
A horrible rumour emanating from the ssn rumour mill saints looking at tom cleverly for 8 million please let this be untrue oh god please!!!

gazzasaint

1.) I'd be more than happy with this

2.) Haha no thanks he's so bad

3.) God no please, did see an intresting swap deal idea of shaw for Hernandez plus cash

4.) Cleverley would be a great signing.

5.) No thanks

6.) You will be pleased to know this rumour is without foundation. No approach has been made for Tom Cleverly.

I think it's safe to say Manchester United fans have been dreaming of such a deal though.

7.) Could do a lot worse than Cleverly for 8mil

then again we could do a lot better for 8 mil and I'd rather see more of JWP and Reed than Cleverly

8.) I don't think there will be any ins until new manager appointed which I believe will be by Wednesday next week be patient

9.) 01 Jun 2014 22:17:02
Set me straight - they give us Cleverly and £8 million - yes?

10.) Midsomernortonsaint is right, no deals will be done until we have a new manager and why would we go for Cleverly when we have loads of good CM's? Probably our best covered position

11.) 01 Jun 2014 23:05:13
I hope not but at least it's nice to finally read a rumour about buying a player!

12.) How do you know that st Sam?

13.) 02 Jun 2014 10:22:12
Cleverly is a binman

14.) Saints won't be looking to sign anyone - their scouts will have ideas but until a new manager is installed they will wait to see if those targets sit with the managers ethics - it highly likely that everyone linked to the club will not be a target and the new manager will have his own ideas

15.) Just imagine if we signed Danny Ings, And sam vokes. Three burnley men playing up front (Jrod)

16.) 02 Jun 2014 13:28:14
Great news if true, I really do rate Gaston. he was injured in pre season under Adkins (plus we had to adapt that year) and MoPo never fancied him. but if we sold him then i'd guess lala is staying!

17.) 02 Jun 2014 13:30:12
I think cleverly has a decent skill level. He's been found out at the highest levels with United which has made him a convenient scape goat for their woes, and recently this has carried forward to england. Said for a while that he'd do well under less pressure. and our defensive strength would give him more freedom. That all said and done, we won't be signing anyone without a manager, and I doubt we'd go for his wage demands.

Can we have picked a worse time of the season to start wasting chance after chance !!!!!!!

gazzasaint

1.) 12 Feb 2015 19:49:20
Jose having the same problem! TWO rubbish teams in the top 4.

Suspensions, injuries and poor form are making it difficult for Saints with our relatively small squad and it doesn't help when some of the team do not follow instructions.

RoKo knows the situation and will get it sorted but I will repeat what I have said before, this is a work in progress and we will see such problems. Frustrating, but hardly unexpected.

Just wanted to do a shout out to 1 of our former players Bradley wright-Phillips who scored his 30th goal of the mls season last night

Can't help but feel longs transfer fee now looks ridiculously high now seeing Liverpool are signing a striker of balotelli calibre for 4 million more and yes I no he will be on ridiculous wages but still

gazzasaint

1.) Totally agree. We had our trousers pulled down on the Long deal.

2.) 21 Aug 2014 19:48:58
I thought we had already tried a trouble maker from Italy who thought he was better than the rest of the squad, but only performed on rare occasions! But why should that stop us repeating the same mistake? LOL
Let's just throw £16m at a player who has been trouble at his last two clubs who have been desperate to get rid, and then "reward" him with a stupid salary, and upset the rest of the squad. But we can always cover our desperation by calling it ambition.

3.) I get the feeling Long has been a long term back up plan who turned into a panic buy. We needed a Rodriguez replacement (which I am not sure Long really is as Long doesn't seem too comfortable wide left) but he is still an important part of the team. Plus with the amount of money clubs think we have we aren't exactly going to get any bargains.

4.) Long was 8 upfront going to 12 after performance related fees.

Transfers from a different division usually are less than ones in the same division since the player won't be strengthening a direct rival.

it also comes down to how much the player is worth to either team. Maybe milan were desperate to get rid of him?

You can't really judge individual transfers by their fees, I mean Lallana went for 25 and we got Tadic for 10, when it should really have been the other way around

5.) Stop knocking Long. He will be ok!!

6.) Stop making stuff up saintysaint
The numbers from uefas data base are no arguing with.

Balotelli € 20 million transfer fee
Long € 15 million transfer fee
90 000 £ a week for Mario Balotelli
55 000 £ a week for Long.

7.) And Tadic is no where near Lallana's level, perfect example of the fickle short memories of football fans, only 2 months ago Lallana on here was just as good as David Silva, Hazard and Mata, imo he was as good if not better than some of them on his performances last seadon. Tadic was awful vs liverpool apart from a backheel which came off because Skrtel always sleeps! don't believe me check the banter archives. And btw lallana transfer fee from uefa data base is € 30 million which is £ 24 million not 25, and Tadic cost € 14 million which is £ 11, 2 million not 10! Considering the 25% we gave bournemouth and the extra costs of Tadic deal which took it up to around £ 12.5 million and the money from Lallana after every body got paid off is around £ 17.5 million. £ 5 million profits, on Lallana and Tadic. So pipe down, nothin spevial about that all! Lallana could go on to become world class, Tadic warms the bench for Liverpools bench warmer Markovic btw!

8.) Long was £8m with £4m in add ons.

9.) How the hell can u criticise tadic comparing him to lallana after 1 game in the PL!? Lallana hardly set the world alight in his first PL season. Give tadic a chance to settle into his new team and league before making stupid statements

10.) 22 Aug 2014 20:22:35
Rivaldo, why you knocking Tadic. for his first ever game in England and the Prem I thought he did well. Lallana has played in England all his life and he took ages to get used to the Prem. Plus once defenders realised that he only uses the Cruyff turn to get round people he won't do so well. I think Tadic is going to have a good season.

11.) I agree, Lallana has taken years to become the player he is and has shone in his past 3/4 or so years. Tadic has only played 1 prem game and looks a great talent. Because Lallana is slow, his cryuff turns are becoming predictable and lallana never lasted us a full 90 minutes. Tadic has the potential to be a better player than lallana given some time.

I have to disagree wickham has bags of untapped potential when finally given a run in the Sunderland team at the back end of last season he was fantastic and I think he would be an ideal replacement for SRL
