Koeman has given cork an ultimatum. sign the new deal within the week or we will go into the transfer market for another central midfielder
Jordie Clasie, who worked under koeman at feynoord is one of the favourites to sign if cork fails to complete his contract extension

jmSaint

1.) 22 Jan 2015 22:20:57
Choice of having Clasie or Cork?

Please don't sign Jack

2.) 23 Jan 2015 07:37:29
I thought Clasie had just signed a 5 year contract ? It would take silly money to get him out of that and is he actually that good ? Maybe he is, but it could be a very expensive gamble which I can't see Saints taking at this stage.

3.) 23 Jan 2015 19:59:20
i would love corky to stay.

but it is looking more and more unlikely.

Apparent Koeman is off to barca. I really hope this is just the media putting 2+2 together and coming up with 5

jmSaint

1.) It probably is BS but I don't think anyone would blame him

2.) 08 Jan 2015 19:25:39
I Can't see this. He has invested heavily in the team and to leave so soon would defy any type of sense especially with the work he is currently doing.

Having said that we have been knackered like this in the past. He is the best thing to happen to us in a long long time. I hope to God it's not true.

3.) He's off to barca to bring Messi back to Southampton fc

4.) No he isn't. Barca want Pellegrini. The only reason Koemans name was used is because he had links to the club

5.) Not sure if the link will post but there's a decent article on the guardian's website about this

Saints have apparently put in a 6 figure bid for teenage striker Craig Wighton from Dundee.
Don't know much about him but supposedly has a big future.

jmSaint

1.) Well he will have if he joins us;-)

2.) So, do we have trolling skates on here then? No self respecting Saints fan would disagree that he will have a big future if he joins us??????

Elia confirmed on loan according to SSN

jmSaint

1.) Yep, it's on the Saints OS.
Initial loan with option to buy!

2.) 24 Dec 2014 09:07:34
Nice work and we really should buy bertrand and Toby now before the price for them goes up during the summer dew to a bidding war with other teams . will we everget any for Osvaldo or is he coming back ?

3.) Inter signed Osvaldo on loan with an option to buy, but he's hardly been a raging success and they're skint so I can't see any other outcome than him remaining a Saints player and the club trying to (unsuccessfully) permanently offload him again next summer.

Sadly, the only place where he's got any kind of reputation is Italy, where the clubs have no money. I'd be surprised if Saints get anything back from the disastrous Osvaldo deal and can see him spending the rest of his time farmed out on loan until his contract expires.

I'm surprised no-one's taken a hammer to the "black box" over that transfer.

4.) Sadly the black box wasn't in operation when we signed Osvaldo!

van djik not in the celtic squad today

jmSaint

1.) 31 Aug 2014 15:05:08
Koeman admitted we're trying to complete deals for a defensive player and a winger. With Van Dijk and Redmond linked, very good signings IMO

2.) 31 Aug 2014 16:18:15
Being chased by 5 perm clubs apparently. Chase being led by Saints, but we'll see. Money will talk no doubt.
Hope whoever we get (if anyone) makes fewer mistakes than Lovren did - eg spurs at home.

Whatever happened to John Paul Saejis (sp?)

3.) Lovren was our best defender last season. Slamming him for one mistake against Spurs, because he left is just silly. He saved a lot of points with his tackling and interceptions.

4.) Van dijks mrs is having a baby apparently. that's why he wasnt in celtic squad today. would love it if we sign him though.

5.) 31 Aug 2014 17:45:02
Celtic manager has come out and said he's not for sale etc etc. Am sure we will see by tomorrow night.
He isn't in the team because his missus is pregnant (???) and his head hasn't been in it with all the rumours

From the sounds of the Krueger interview the other day, saints are unwilling to meet clynes wage demands as we will 'stay within our pararmeters'
Shame. Hopefully we will get good money for him and a sound replacement.

jmSaint

1.) I got the opposite impression. That strides were being made to secure Clyne for another contract on the basis that he has not reached his full potential and we are one of the best clubs globally for any player to do that. Not one of our summer sales have looked better elsewhere and i am sure Clyne knows this. I expect him to sign. He is just looking for extra $.

2.) Hmmm, if that's how you saw it fair enough. To me it sounded as if saints were saying that but were unwilling to pay outside our wage structure to secure him.

3.) That goes without saying. clyne wants the best deal that's possible for himself and he is a strong position for negotiating. i have faith in him that he will stay.

06 Feb 2015 16:28:01
Thoughts on getting jovetic in the summer? I think he would be up for it as he is clearly 4th choice at city. I would say we would need champions league, and wages may be a stumbling block however.

jmSaint

1.) No thanks.

2.) Not much more than an average player who's on megabucks. No thanks.

3.) 07 Feb 2015 13:08:16
Next question ?

4.) I have always thought he has looked decent when played. But ok. Nevermind

05 Feb 2015 20:56:12
does anyone else find it strange that saints are always bigging up their scouting system, yet all our signings seem to be directly koemans choices?
obviously i don't know the detail but if this scouting system is what its supposed to be then surely they wouldn't all be 'i know this person from holland. '

jmSaint

1.) I know this pershon alsho

2.) Koeman said Djuricic had been scouted by us for the last 3 seasons, obviously we're going to find players that have linked history to the manager also as that's part of his influence and recommendations. Forster, for instance, doesn't come from Holland, but Koeman had seen him play against Barcelona.

3.) I don't think mané was one of Koeman's choices. He was scouted before wasn't he?

01 Feb 2015 22:35:35
Cheer up guys we are stillin the top 4.
I always find it amazing how peoples opinions switch as soon as we have one bad result, we all knew it would be tough with arguably or best 3 players out, but I thought we did everything but score in the first half.
Taking reed off for mane was a risk and it didn't pay off, leaving that big hole in the centre for shelvey to run into, but would we have been happy if we had sat in and it had ended 0-0?
Get behind the team, the next couple of weeks will be tough but as our injured players come back we should be able to kick on again.
Excited to see who is coming in tomorrow, I have a feeling they have someone completely unexpected up thier sleeves.

jmSaint

1.) Given that we weren't at full strength and Swansea are a very good team, just like when we played them at the Liberty Stadium, a draw would have been a good result. Arguably this was just a role reversal of that game, they dominated us in that first half, like we did to them today, but this time it was their player who got into a good position rather than ours to snatch the 3 points.

We just need to keep playing our possession game, be more clinical, hopefully be at full strength for the rest of the season and watch the rest of the teams around us drop points against each other. The more draws between these teams the better.

Is anyone else starting to think that maybe all this media focus in Schneiderlien is a good thing?
I think everyone has pretty much accepted he is leaving in the summer and it's just driving his price up. It's also conveniently ignoring how immense the rest of our team is, so maybe we will have less interest to fight off for them.

jmSaint

1.) Definitely, I am particularly pleased with wanyama this season anyway and am very suprised nobody has shown their interest in him

2.) Not sure many PL clubs pay attention to what's written in the paper, they have scouts for a reason

3.) I don't think any football clubs pay much attention to paper talk. Almost every premier league game has scouts from other clubs in attendance. No club would even think of signing a player just because the paper says he is good. We all know how good Spider is and its well documented that several clubs have been watching him but whether anyone actually puts in a bid is another matter. I'm sure that he would want to stay at Saints if we can qualify for the CL.

I think it's more a question as to whether the clause exists, as neither saint not atleti have said anything.
It just seems unbelievable that Saints would agree to that, but hey. Hope he does stay!

He has the second highest assists to minutes played in the league. What's not to like you ask?

A tad ambitious. I think it's pretty clear the club don't want to over stretch, so I can hardly see them shelling out that kind of cash (not that I think we need it anyway!)

Would love this.
I always felt he deserved more game time at utd when de gea looked dodgy the first couple of years. Always look good when he played and it seemed de gea was only getting the nod because of the fee utd paid for him

Lala's latest interview was much better. He sounds genuinely remorseful for how he left.
Although maybe he just wants to move back here when we get cl and Liverpool are floundering in the Europa league.

I agree, he also looks much less defensively sound than some others.
i think its clear he has quality, we will need a squad, not just 11 so he will be involved

From the sound of the interview he gave the other day he is going to fight for his space for the rest of the season then see what happens.
The way I see it he will sign either if he nails down a first team spot or we get cl (meaning he will play a bigger part as we will need the whole squad)
Otherwise he clearly wants a regular starting spot, and who can blame him. I hope he does well whatever happens.
