Hearing Forster might be coming back into the fray. Looking forward to seeing that happen, I mentioned a couple months back Forster should be given a crack at a few games to see if there is any change.

On his day he is our best keeper, and if he's managed to stay hungry and rekindle that form than happy days. Just call me Ralph MK2.

If the post by SaintySaintSaint 04/ 01/ 18 is correct about FF suffering with depression and having a breakdown then to come back at all will be a massive achievement. Let's not forget that he was considered to be the second best keeper in England for a couple of years and certainly played his part in keeping Saints in the top half of the premier league for a while. I would rather see him come back and fight for the keepers jersey than sit in nomansland . It he does come back in good form he could go against Gunn for the number 1 spot allowing us to sell McCarthy for a good price which wou hopefully release funds for RH to start rebuilding. Just my opinion.

Finally starting to see murmerings of people questioning McCarthy's ability. Like I said from the start of the season he's not a terrible keeper but he's not great either. Most of his saves are shots right at him.

Give Gunn the no1 or give forster another blast.

What a crying shame for Danny Ings. Obviously he won’t be available for a large percentage of games due to re-occurring injuries. Unfortunately it looks probable that we need to sign another top class striker in the Summer in addition to those previously mooted. If we are contractually obligated to sign Danny in the Summer perhaps a wage contract could be drawn up based on appearance/ selection basis. is paid. Seems a little cruel but we are running a Business here! All the very best to Danny hoping for a miracle recovery and long term unimpeded outcome but facing reality situation head on.

Must say I’ve been very impressed with Bednarek and Vestergaard recently. Would like to see Gunn given a go because he was superb at Chelsea. Also thought slattery had a good game.
If Ings is out long term then we’re really struggling; play Redmond and Long up front and hope they can cause enough problems.

Not bothered about going out of the cup as the performance was definitely there and I think it's good for a championship team to have a cup run.

Both teams were decent though derby probably edged it. Our focus needs to be improving and stabilising our league position, squad and performances which is something I see RH doing however at the moment I think a cup run would get in the way of that.

Hoijberg blatantly cheated yesterday but I wouldn't hold it against him. Think it's just part of his passion/ drive (a part he needs to adapt) but still what makes him the hungry team player he is. I've seen his game come on loads over the last season and think he generally cares about getting the team up the league.

Soares everyone saying playing crap, I would most likely think he's plotting a move away. As I'm pretty sure we all know how class he can be/ is.

Hoedt, sorry mate you're just not cutting it.

Vestegard, time will tell. Powerful and good in the air but bit of a slug. Teams don't play long balls that much anymore, like to outfox and work it into the box. That's why all defenders need to be more like van dyk. Strong, tall, powerful but quick enough and smart enough to be able to control, patrol and command thier area.

McCarthy, know everyone loves him but cracks have begun to show like I said they would and the majority of his saves this season have been straight at him. Few more games then let's see what Gunn can do. i'm tempted to say give Forester another little run to see if all this time away has made him hungry/ more focused.

Romeu, sorry but I know he has been in that midfield a while but I just feel he is a replacement for wanyama/ schniederlin that never really worked. I'm not saying he's bad but you can see the difference between him and lamina surely

& Lemina, when that boy puts in a shift he definitely puts in a shift 👍 🤓. He always looks bloody knackered.

Thank God somebody else sees that Hoedt is utterly useless. I know I won't be too popular by saying this but I think Stephens isn't cut out for it yet either. Should stick with Vestergaard and Yoshida.

Also agree regarding Romeu. He stops the ball and that about it. He can't pass or header the ball, come to that nobody can header the ball.

Redmond has been given too many chances in my opinion. Likes to stop running and seems to invite the tackles and along with many other players very static at times. We seem to stop and just look around for a pass.

Should stick with Long but as a winger rather than striker.

We have a big enough squad to sort it out.

I think the transfer business we done was poor. We have a creativity problem and a problem with our choice of manager. Personally I like pace and would have kept Sims with us, he looked a threat when he came on last season. I would have also looked at Lookman from Everton to play on the right. I would have looked closely at loftus cheek situation at Chelsea and maybe dembele from Celtic, not Armstrong. As our defence is not that great I would have tried to get Stefan De Vrij and a new RB.

I hands down prefer Sims of Redmond. They are both similar players however Sims is more dirtand clinical whereas Redmond likes to be fancy and trickery that rarley pays off (don't even talk about his shooting 🙊) .

Shame Sims didn't get a chance to show it.

Urm he's only on loan.
not all is lost.
Redmond is a good player but needs a decent manager to guide him. Hughes has reignited him clearly but he needs a tactician (pep😀) to point up where and how he needs to play.

Banging on about his delivery.

At the end of the day if his ball delivery/ gameplay was delivering the desired affect we wouldn't even be having this conversation because he would already be at Liverpool/ Totenham ect. being that he hasn't been poached he's not the finished article and with time ticking on who knows if he will be.

Our fans identity of promoting youth needs a reality check too. People need to realise for the now the well has ran dry. Yeah we've got a few drabs of talent here and there but the days of gems/ future England players being churned have stopped. Any youth we bring through now will be rough diamonds and not raw talent.

Assume this is JWP. His delivery is top notch. As a player, he is in no way the finished article and is very frustrating, but his delivery is as good as anybody.

Why are we all suddenly turning on the guy in the last 2 days.?

2.) 09 Aug 2018 11:59:10
Not turning said all along I like the guy, obviously he's one of our own. Just that he's been with us for many years now and when you cut right to it where has his 'delivery' (the justfication for keeping him/ raising his price) ever got us? Honest question. I truly hope he stays at Southampton and becomes the player we all hope he will but sadly it doesn't look like it and IF it ever does a season later he will be gone. This is my point.

3.) 09 Aug 2018 13:45:17
Truly hope he stays. His game is improving all the time with limited pitch minutes.
He also shows passion when we need it. Something sometimes lacking by a lot of our players.

4.) 09 Aug 2018 14:52:32
What do you mean where has his delivery ever got us? It's got us better deliveries. Where did Mane's pace ever get us? Where did Le Tissier's genius ever get us? Nowhere, but that doesn't mean we may as well not have bothered with them.

And 'if he ever turns the corner he'll be gone a year later'. again, what on earth is your point? We may as well sell all of our players by the logic you've used here!

One of the more bizarre posts I've seen on here.

5.) 09 Aug 2018 16:45:43
So your saying his great delivery is what have us our great season last year? Point is, whatever skill you have it has to be effective. Manes pace and let tissiers genius would constantly get us 3 points, can you say the same for JWP?

6.) 09 Aug 2018 18:30:26
^ no but the free kick he scored and the assist he got in the 3-2 win vs WBA and the 2 assists he got in the 2-2 draw vs Watford probably kept us up.

7.) 09 Aug 2018 18:31:57
2 goals vs Watford *.

8.) 09 Aug 2018 18:58:41
I can't and didn't say either of those things.
