We're being linked with Sofiane Boufal. I would be ecstatic with this. More than adequate as a replacement for Mane.

Would love that. Very clever attacking midfielder with a good eye for goal.

Whilst disappointing and deeply frustrating, we have been in this situation before and the current board have always done exceptionally well in the past. The talk of 'who club is bigger' aside, Ron is taking a huge gamble. The reality is; no new majority shareholder/ owner has ever said that they 'fully intend to maintain the status quo whilst paying themselves admirably before returning the club to the market for more than the sum they originally borrowed to pay for it', but that's typically what happens. The £100m transfer kitty being discussed, unless it has been promised every season, isn't actually all that remarkable in football, nor at Everton who have paid £30m for a striker alone, in the past. Reading inbetween the lines re. Reeds comments about ensuring all parties share the same goals, whether there has been a breakdown in adoption of youth policy? can't have escaped anyone's notice that Ron has brought through exactly no youth players and at the time I thought that his comments about none of the Under 21's being good enough for the first team, or making those comments publicly, was odd. Anyway, if he does go, Everton will get a very good manager. I don't doubt he will be replaced by an equally good manager. Maybe even a better one?

1.) 05 Jun 2016 16:27:23
how can everton offer 100m in transfers under the FFP rules though?

{Ed002's Note - The money comes from additional TV income for the coming season.}

2.) 05 Jun 2016 18:01:53
Not forgetting another 65mill from the sale of lukaku

3.) 05 Jun 2016 18:18:33
Ed002 - That rationale accepts that they will be unable to maintain it, barring a return to CL football next season. I would think that even the most optimistic of toffees' would be cautious that the current squad + 100m would get CL football, even with another topsy-turvy season and none of the current Everton squad leaving (unlikely) . I think Ron would be taking a massive gamble.

{Ed002's Note - I expect that Champions League football will be well beyond Everton next season. With Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United looking to improve and the North London sides looking to keep their momentum going and with the likes of West Ham knocking on the door, getting Everton, Southampton, Leicester or Stoke in to a Champions League spot will be a very tough ask,}

4.) 05 Jun 2016 18:22:07
Does that mean we could spend upwards of 80 million Ed . Due to the TV money? If so, bet we don't .

{Ed002's Note - Yes, but most clubs won't be spending just for the sake of it.}

5.) 05 Jun 2016 20:40:31
Suspect Stones and Barkley will go too. (England will do badly this summer and the excuse will be that the England squad need to play more against the European sides. Fine for those already in Europe but for Stones and Barkley they will be under pressure to move. )
However much money a club has to spend will they really attract the top players without European competition?
Not our problem, but RoKo might dent his CV with this move. But, who knows, he may have decided one big pay day will see him to a certain life style after footy and ambitions to manage at the highest level have taken the back seat.

6.) 05 Jun 2016 20:55:49
Why are West Ham knocking on the door but were not? We finished above them.

{Ed002's Note - WEst Ham are looking to further invest and improve as they move to a new stadium - which is itself a major selling point for new investors, advertisers and indeed players.}

7.) 06 Jun 2016 06:38:04
West Ham have prob the lowest stadium overheads in the league 2.5 m a year for 100 years and they gave 15 m or so towards costs. Have 100 year lease and 60k plus capacity hence they can spend what they earn every year and not worry. Also look at last year lot of loan signings.

17 Nov 2014 22:09:10
Salah on loan from chelsea according to a whole bunch of people commenting on a saints story on internet.

mssaint

1.) 18 Nov 2014 09:01:21
According to the DAILY MIRROR Southampton want Spurs to include Harry Kane and Andros Townsend in any deal for Jay Rodriguez. I personally would take this plus £5 million, two great Young players plus their wages for the next couple of years.

2.) Now I might be wrong, but I thought that you can't have 2 loaned players from the same club. If we were to get Salah on loan, then wouldn't we have to cancel the bertrand loan. This clearly doesn't make much sense.

3.) 18 Nov 2014 17:13:56
Unless we buy Bertrand?. No, idea of the validity. But a whole bunch of people from Egypt think he is on his way to us.

4.) Saintsfan25 we have loaned Swindon Jack Stephens and Jordan Turnbull. As far as I am aware there is a limit of 4 players from any one club (but I could be wrong).

5.) 19 Nov 2014 10:24:41
Thought Nat Clyne played really well last night and a bit worried that somebody is going to go after him soon. Rickie had the last 10 minutes last night and he still has a lot to offer football, his reading of the game and his touches are still some of the best around. It must be so frustrating for him being in the England set up but not even playing any real football, he should have stayed at Saints. However if he did and JRod gets fit and we still bought Pelle he might not have got a game here either, just seems a shame. Surely he would be better off going to a top Championship club and play his career out at a level that can still use his great talents.

6.) Just for people's awareness a team can only sign one player on loan from a club in the same league. Teams can have a max of two players on loan from two different clubs in the same league.
In terms of loans from other leagues I'm not sure (but I remember Watford having loads a couple of years back)

We would have to sign Bertrand permanently for this to happen

7.) Well maybe we will sign RB permanently in jan. I don't think we would want salah though, unless we do lose spiderman

Toby Alderweireld to have medical today, Koeman has confirmed. Looks like a great signing. they're working on an attacker too.

Goalkeeper - we need a new keeper. Forster is a huge fellow and i'm wondering if he body is catching up with him. His inability to move across the line is pretty obvious to all, mostly the opposition attack.

Defenders - i'm not sure we need much. I'd like to see a Hoedt/ Stephens partnership. Yoshida is a willing back up, but misjudges the flight of the ball too often.

Defensive midfielders - Fine.

Attacking midfielders - Desperately need one, if not two. Link up play in attack has been non-existent. Most attacks come through wingbacks.

Striker - Tricky. Gabbi looks unhappy, but can play when he has service. Austin does well, but misses chances he should be scoring. We would need someone that is 'proven', but 'proven' in the Premier League and I can't see where that 'proven' striker is coming from? Bony? can't see Swansea selling. Giroud? Could we afford wages. Remy? Perhaps, but it would be in-keeping with our season that he got a season ending injury 5 mins in to his first game - also applies to Sturridge and Walcot.

Manager - He looks adrift. His comments about the team still finding its identity are worrying. As a top manager/ leader, its the direction he is setting that should dictate the identity of the team.

The time wasting is counter-productive. Time wasting in the first half - asides from being very unsporting - is sending the message to the opposition hat we're wishing the game away. Sets the wrong tone.

In terms of replacement, where? I can't see a top calibre manager wanting to take on a club who are sliding mid-season. Why take the risk? Howe could be an option, but could he walk in to our dressing room and get them organised in the amount of time he would need to? Not sure.

Board - Its fairly obvious, KL and LR threw their hand too early. In selling the raft of players so soon, we weakened our position on two fronts, making ourselves a one-stop-shop for other clubs as well as providing an expectation to our players that they would be allowed to leave at will. Buying low and selling high was a neat trick, but everyone could see we could not do it indefinitely, or else every other team would do it all the time.

I understand no one likes Agents, but I think it would be wise of SFC to improve their relations with them. Wearing the small amounts the club pays Agents - relatively - as a badge of honour is one thing, but probably a case of better the devil you know.

Still, expecting a comfortable win this afternoon and for Jose to insist that all of the home support hand over their wallets before leaving the ground. Team costing a paltry £620 m? can't be expected to work with this.

I think Saints fans have been very fortunate, over the last few seasons, to watch teams that have consistently been greater than the sum of their individual parts. This season we saw a team that was less than the sum of its individual parts. Puel didn't seem to have any rapport with the players and it always felt as if the players were trying to be moulded to fit his tactics rather than the tactics used to make the best of our players attributes. The decision to get rid of him is harsh, but not one I am unhappy with.

Absolutely fantastic season. The appointment of Koeman was a genius decision, for which Les Reed should be commended. The owner delivered on her promise to invest in and continue to support the growth of the club. We played an incredibly blend of attacking, honest football, scoring some absolutely amazing goals. I thought our players looked fit as butchers dogs throughout the season and the off-field conduct was also exemplary in its professionalism. U21's won the U21 Premier League Cup with an exciting group of gifted academy players. And, whilst being actively ignored by major football television programmes was, at times, a bit frustrating, it also provides a feeling of smug satisfaction that you're upsetting the apple cart. To top it all off, feeling a hugely childish tinge of disappointment that we only finished 7th in the Premier League. How times have changed. Looking forward to next season. COYR's!!

Apparently, Inter Milan are going to sue Osvalodo for 28m euros for breach of contract! Someone really should suggest that he implements a routine that involves looking in the mirror each morning and saying aloud 'today Dani, you will not be an absolute disaster'.

mssaint

1.) I don't know where they've pulled that figure out from. Inter were only prepared to agree a potential fee of around £5 million for Osvaldo (which they were never going to pay to make his transfer permanent in any case).

How have they decided that his loan contract was worth £21-odd million to them?

And more to the point, what's Saints' cut?

2.) Couldnt help but laugh at this article when i read it. "Osvaldos fall from grace" was he ever in a position of grace???

The papers are now reporting that we are going in for Sneijder. I don't understand how it makes sense. I thought Fergie had said that Man U struggled to meet his wage demands? So his wage demands would had to have changed dramatically, not common amongst footballers, for this to even get off the ground. It would be an amazing signing though.

mssaint

1.) Depends on Roko. He knows players well. Man Utd is not the place for WS.

He would want to be a king pin. He won't be that at Man U.

Could be just what we need.

Why not go for Rickie Lambert on loan until the end of the season?

'no chance, Koeman isn't a fan of his'. Rubbish! Erwin publicly admitted they tried to get him to Saints, but he chose to stay at PSV instead.

The same Glenn Hoddle that thinks disabled people are being punished for sins in a previous life? The Same Glenn Hoddle that, when in a bind as England Manager, called in a Faith Healer? Perhaps we could also get Ron Atkinson as a Assistant Manager/ Foreign Ambassador?

I think your criticism is a bit unfair. I remember when Poch came in thinking that Davis would never adapt to that style of football. But he did. He's a real workhorse, and every team needs that. But, I think that if the Boufal deal is completed you may get your wish, though. Romeu as defensive mid, Boufal on left, Hojbjerg/ JWP on right, and Tadic behind strikers. Personally, I would say that the inclusion of Davis would be reason enough for Puel to consider a 4-2-3-1.

Youre clutching at straws, mate! Agreed, I would be asking for a lot more than £3m given the, apparent, spending power of their new majority shareholder.
