Have just read that Koeman is looking at the possibility of bringing in Benteke from Villa. Didn't do great last season. Would he be a good signing for Saints?

saintly

1.) All depends on price. I would imagine saints would value him around £10m, while villa nearer £20m. He signed a new contract last season so villa are in the same boat as us regarding player sales

2.) Think last season was down to injuries tbh. no denying any player who is 23 and scores 20+ goals in the PL for Aston Villa has talent. Young, PL experience and with the right coaching which I believe we can offer he could become one of europes top strikers. not a chance in hell we would get him for under 15. they price him closer to 30m than 20. If we want a player of this kind Bony would be another option.

3.) Benteke would be the sort of signing that would make the rest of the league stand up and take note.

Some of potential signings that are being banded about are not going to do well in persuading spider to stay!!

Come on the saints, shock us with some big signings! Bony would be a great signing. I do think Tadic is going to be proper class though. COYR!!

4.) I just have this doubt we will sign any 'marquee' players. We have more of a history developing players rather than buying them in. I could see us picking up 1 or 2 experienced players cheap at the later end of their career to help bolster the youngsters. But I feel our main money will be spent on players like Tadic. Youthful player with passion and an abundance of potential.

It is only my opinion and I will be happy to be proven wrong, if we do pick up some household names but I just cannot see it.

5.) Bedfordshiresaint: Benteke is youthful with passion and abundance of potential?? And I would imagine he would be acceptable to come to Southampton if we got him for the right price. And if that is 20 mill then maybe we should pay it, let's be honest he is going to be a hell of a lot better than osvaldo!!

I posted yesterday that Laudrup would be the best option. However, I am now hearing a lot of negative things about the man. Poor work ethic, hardly around the training ground and totally disconnected with the players. The complete opposite to Poch. If that is the case then. no thank you. Bring on the Yak!

Clyne is a good defender, but not that good at delivering the ball into the box. Pelle scored a cracking header from a Shane Long cross from the right against Spurs. I don't recall Clyne delivering too many balls of that quality in the last couple of seasons. If the price is right sell him and buy a more complete right back.

I have a feeling Morgan will still want to leave at the end of the season. As Gary Neville said yesterday, he would walk into any team in the Prem. We have a ready made replacement in Toby (if he stays) with Indi as the new centre back. Those two will certainly give us options as they are so versatile.

How can we afford to lose a player like Corky! With Schneiderling unsettled and still likely to leave, surely we will need Jack. He always gives 100%, wins us the ball and gets things moving. I don't want us to have a team full of players who do not know the premier league

Apparently we have tabled a £12m bid, which has been accepted. Oh dear!! Surely Ings would have been a better option. I am convinced Burnley would have sold at that price, given that he is in the final year of his contract.

He is 30 next year and a South American, who could find it difficult to adapt to the premier league (remember Delgado)! I would much prefer we stick to our policy of buying young talented players, that we can groom. Starting with Redmond, Ings and Caulker.
