Siants looking at Hannover MF Felix Klaus, also a striker - Mark Uth - not sure how good either of them are?

Look down a few posts to get your answer on mark uth.

Christian Tello from Barcelona and Goktan Tore . Nice signings if they come. In talks with Tellos agent. Not sure what is happening with Tore Be great to see who we bring in as managers. Still think we need to expand stadium . Most of space goner. Open up family stand and get people in stadium. European football awaits, be nice if we upped it to 40k Need to show we mean business but think Mane and Wanyama make good business sense.

strawbs748

1.) 29 Jun 2016 23:02:38
Personally think Tello would be a poor signing considering he's been average at best in the Portuguese league. Gokhan Töre is a superb signing however, arguably one of the better players in the Turkish league this season which is on par with if not better than the Portuguese league.

Regarding expanding the stadium, unless we get 30k+ a week for a whole season I don't think the board will consider it. It's a nice idea but it doesn't make any business sense considering we're not selling out every week.

2.) 30 Jun 2016 07:11:57
We are there or there abouts on selling out each week. The family section is all but sold out to season ticket holders and we could accommodate more away fans . If we build it they will come! With the new money now is the time. Would also help if we made a major signing or two. Brining in some marque players would boost attendances .

3.) 30 Jun 2016 10:46:46
I'm not necessarily sure I agree. The stadium is fit for purpose at the moment and would just be an added cost that we don't need to spend. It wouldn't pay for itself for a long time, that's if it actually did. Unfortunately the stadium expansion is just something for the fans to enjoy, it isn't necessary and doesn't actually make good business sense at the moment. If we were in champ league and/ or selling out EVERY week and fans were regularly unable to get tickets or if there were a long waiting list for season tickets then yes, but we are a long way off that. Also, let's bear in mind that our owner doesn't actually like spending money on the club.

Wesley snieder to team up with Koeman in January in a 9million pound move. Would rather play for Koeman than join Man united

strawbs748

1.) His wage demands would put him out of our reach - besides would not believe that he would chose us rather than Man U. Nice to think that we are in a position to consider battling with the big boys who have much more financial clout that we will never have.

2.) Koeman has stated that we can't compete with the big boys and needs to strengthen with big name signings. This must mean that sfc are willing to pay the wages in order to achieve this goal

3.) Absolutely not. His wage demands, signing on fee, performance clauses, agents fees will be astronomical and out of Saints reach.

4.) We would be able to afford the wages and I'm sure we could comfortably do so. However it would cause every other player in the first team squad to form a queue outside the board room to request a better deal on their wages too. So much dis harmony in the squad and all for a player who we don't know would actually do any good in this league. I could understand if it was drogba or van persie. But I can't see this happening. Also this is just hear say at the moment, based purely on the fact that the player and the manager are from the same country and have met.

5.) Would be a statement. Big name player but he isn't worth smashing the wage structure to get.

6.) Why would united even want him with the players they have got in that position at the moment. di maria, mata, rooney etc, his wage demands by the sounds of things aren't too different to what were paying a lot of the players now anyway, people act like we don't pay decent wages at all which is not the case, from the we save in purchasing the player if it is £9 million that would give you the salary for the player for a couple of years

7.) To clarify: saints absolutely cannot afford his wages, fees, clauses etc.

And to confirm this : Koeman admitted it today to the press.

Now we all know that clubs don't always tell the truth to the press and fans. Koeman is clearly interested but it would be a pointless, expensive and risk to venture to sign a 30 year old. It might cost the club about £10 million.

8.) I would hope we could afford him should we wish to sign him because if we couldn't then it removes any hope of us signing world class players. Maybe it's fantasy to have such hopes but if a top notch player became available I would like to think we would be tempted to move heaven and earth to get him. Sneijder isn't such a player because he's past his best for me. The Sneijder of 3 or 4 years ago would be superb.

9.) 19 Dec 2014 18:16:48
I think a few nee to become familiar with Dutch humour!

RoKo said that Saints couldn't afford Sneijder, and they share the same agent ie. he knows the agent expects to earn top money for his clients, and he (RoKo) is expensive!! Logically, (sound Dutch trait) if we can afford RoKo we can afford Sneijder

10.) Sneijder is on 2.5m a year that's 48k a week. right at the very top end of what we are paying anyone. So it is doable. I still think for 9m we would be better off going for shaqiri who bayern have said can leave for 10m.

{Ed007's Note - Sneijder is on a lot more than that at Galatasaray, double that and you're nearer a ballpark figure.}

11.) "Sneijder has reportedly not been paid since the beginning of the season. The 30-year-old playmaker earns €3.2m (£2.5m) per season and still has two years remaining on his contract. "

Spuds have offered Vlad Chiriches a defender as party of offer to I entice Morgan to White Hart Lane. He was originally purchased for 8.5m. Not sure if he is any good.

strawbs748

1.) Roma are in for him too. He cost spuds 8.5 million last summer and if you apply the transfer fee logic of measuring him as a player we could well be looking at a future Liverpool bid of 20m

2.) According to squawka his stats are pretty impressive. Looks like he could be worth a punt, better than Jos and Maya

3.) 05 Aug 2014 12:39:09
I would like to be a fly on the wall in the offices of the hallowed St Marys and actually know what is going on. Got a feeling that RoKo has probably tried to sign several players so far but I wonder whether the players themselves are the ones that are turning US down and not the other way around. On the other hand we don't want to beg players to join us if they not going to give 110% effort as the last thing we need are mercenaries who do not believe in team spirit, Osvaldo for example.

4.) I think Saints need a leader at the back. No offence to Fonte, but surely Saints can afford a Vlaar type player -particularly as Koeman's obviously Dutch and he can clearly and concisely explain all the nuances of a very important position at the back. A quality centre half before the weekend. Yes please Mr. Reed

5.) We can get Ron Vlaar just pay the money and buy him. He just could be the difference between surviving reasonably or struggling against relegation.

6.) Couldn't agree more, I feel so frustrated at the slowness of all this. Been saying for weeks that we need a proper buyer who knows what speed means, and is not frightened of his own shadow!!

7.) Ps. How do we apply for these jobs?

8.) I wish I were 20 years younger, Frank. I would play for Saints for sweet f. a. And I wouldn't leave my head in Liverpool or kiss the badge, then depart on demand. Surely Koeman knows that we need a quality purchase or two, minimum. Surely?

9.) I am feeling all the frustation coming back! Get your f. ing fingers out!!!!

10.) WE could make a good duo Armstong up front and me supplying the crosses! what do you think?

11.) I have a feeling we might not be needed, thank god Frank. Let's hope Rojo signs. Or a similar type of centre half. We seem to have plenty of midfielders now, need to work on the defence now and dare I say another striker?

Really pissed off - I know we run a tight ship but I would have thought will all the business the other clubs have done we would have at least equalled the spending - we must have made 60m on sales and finishing last is worth 90m and so far we have spent 30m - we have europa league and in my opinion we haven't done enough to fight or show ambition to get out the group let alone try and win the thing.

strawbs748

{Ed002's Note - It is indeed a pity that Southampton didn't just buy for the sake of it as you want. Spend a lot more money - doesn't matter who on - just spend. Are you a Liverpool fan? Do you look like a potato?}

1.) 31 Aug 2016 23:33:38
Dear Mr Potato
I am deeply saddened that we have only managed to improve year on year for many years, promotion after promotion. We must in future spend lots of money on average players, 'has been' players and players with attitude.
I have personally written to Liverpool asking if there was any chance we could have Lovren back for 100M . and asked Mr Balotelli if he would forget France and join us; his teamwork, his effort, his team spirit are much needed as is his firework display abilities when we get relegated!

Southampton FC has a system, a belief, a way . that has worked and will continue to work. COYR.

2.) 31 Aug 2016 23:57:50
I am reading seeing so many people happy with our business and can not understand it. We are pushing our luck expecting every year investing less to continue to work out. We have replaced good players with good potential! We have more games with the Europa league and started very poorly in the Prem. and we are down at least 4 players in my opinion. striker, imposing midfielder, centre back cover and now right back! No need to overpay I agree but pay something. jesus! Why do we not like loan deals? I just don't get it? Remy, Bony, Wilshere etc. Remy is spot on for us! If you were Virgil, Bertrand etc you must be gutted with lack of ambition. We spent -16m I believe not good enough. especially after the extra tv money and money for position we finished! Don't give me the crap about we invested in new contracts etc. Because everybody else does that too! Long hard season ahead! Arsenal, West Ham and Leicester all away in next 4 games! No way we will not be bottom after that with current form, personnel and tactics. I like our 3 signings but no cover for right back, centre half, and injury prone strikers, no dominant midfield player! Very worried!

3.) 01 Sep 2016 07:06:09
Seriously what's with this injury prone crap that people keep saying to make them sound like they know what they're talking about.

4.) 01 Sep 2016 15:31:08
Excellent post Rich. Strawbs and gaz-can understand your frustrations and worries. 3 games in with two draws and 1 defeat is not time to panic. Look at the scenario come the 1st of January then weigh the situation up. Pied is no idiot and the board has complete faith ( like myself and others) in him. Calm down lads and keep the faith. I still maintain that we'll finish top 10.

5.) 01 Sep 2016 15:55:32
J-rod has been injured for two seasons and Austin has a dodgy knee, Jeeze literally had to spell it out.

6.) 02 Sep 2016 01:00:13
Welshgirl . I am betting you are neither Welsh or a girl . your football knowledge is damn fine and your inside knowledge is like you are really Mr Dorset ;-)

7.) 02 Sep 2016 20:16:56
Hi rich. I was born in Swansea up in the hills of bonnamine. Brought up in a male dominated family. I was one of the few girls amongst miners, steel workers etc., spent childhood playing on the 'Mumbles' a beach nearby. If you asked my partner if I was a girl he would probably laugh ( we have 3 children - 2 boys,1 girl) . My knowledge of football is on par with the best of you - absolutely crackers about the game. As for Dorset I bet deep down he loves the saints and loves winding a few of you up. No we are not the same and neither are we related. Thanks for asking. Are you male?

19 Aug 2016 22:29:17
After tonight - Targett back up player - claise out, Austin, jay rod both out - really think if we are to progress we need to sign some better players - first off someone who can stick the ball in the net 20+ times a seasons - sell of the injured and non performers and invest in quality - proven quality not people who need to develop.

strawbs748

1.) 19 Aug 2016 22:45:52
Think jays a bit harsh, if this guy gets game time he's got 10 plus goals in him this year if he is past his injuries (rumors about retirement banded around somewhere earlier) Austin has got to be an uptop, 18 yard box goalscorer because tonight he looked like I had been bought on chasing nothing like a lunatic and kicking the ball at players and losing it. We looked good and did well. Longs reaction I hope was just a frustrating evening other than bad feeling in the group although there did seem to be pop up squabbles going on around the pitch although I'm sure just frustration.

2.) 20 Aug 2016 12:15:08
inflexible tactics?

3.) 20 Aug 2016 17:17:13
Do you know how hard it is to get a striker that will get 20+ goals a season. We've been in the Prem for 4 seasons now and none of our players have come close to 20 goals.

If a club thinks their striker can score 20 goals in the Prem they'll cost a tonne. Look at Ayew and Benteke 50mil combined and they're not even great.

javi garcia to shore up Midfield -would wages be a problem on this guy also ???

strawbs748

16 Aug 2014 12:12:25
Philipp Wollscheid and Alvaro Gonzalez - not sure if we need Gonzalez but Wollscheid for sure - 6ft 4 same as Gardos - both central defenders - that would be some back two - still think we could do with one major Marque signing - a forward - Javier Hernandez starts for Man U today so not sure where that leaves us - Stefan Keissling if still available would be superb- I would have thought that Koeman would of have more targets on his radar?

strawbs748

1.) We won't sign another striker, we're need for a right winger and maybe a CB

03 Aug 2014 12:39:57
Arsenal's Jankinson has signed for West Ham on loan, so ending all speculation of him coming to us. I still think Gnabry would be a good signing on loan. Athletic Madrid have also confirmed that they have no interest in signing Hernadez from Manchester United so hopefully we can make a move there too. Stil think we need to sign a few more defenders and in that that is where we need to spend our money on.

Agreed - I thought we had done enough when we scored only to find out it doesn't count for anything because it is head to head if we both end up on same points.

Don't get it. Austin played ok. He is never gone a chase if ball doesn't arrive closer than five yards. He is not Long so we need to play a different ball. Sunderland had 1 shot on target and it was a penalty. We will develop. We will be fine. Wiltshire or Swienstiger will do plus Haller and one surprise will do us well tomorrow and then we can play and start winning games.

someone soon is going to catch a massive cold - most of these guys invest in the fact they will get champions league - what happens if RK is left with no stones, Barkley or Lukaku, he may have a massive pot of cash to spend but no players wanting to join a squad with no Europe.

could end up with mercenaries and no team cohesion. what if they got relegated of ended up outside the top 7 again. what happened with all the money coming in it turns out that it it down to the manager and not money and we find some big teams going down - would have loved it if chelsea did it this year. it will happen soon. I doubt it will be Saints as the structure is right.

Disagree with some of the stuff on this post - yes we got some good players in but have we really been that good under Koeman? I think most off it comes from how the club is run and the fact that we don't break wage structures and spend massive transfer fees. Southampton are the fastest growing football brand in the world FACT! and that is not down to Koeman. despite what people say certain members of our board and back Room staff one think you can be assured of is that Southampton have it right off the field - need a Manager in that can promote the youth - the only criticism I do have of our club is that we haven't expanded our ground - if we want to be taken as a big club then surely we need to think big and get more people into the ground _ I am not saying we have to go to 50k plus but getting close to 40k would be a start.

Les is better than you think - got an idea with koemans stalling that He would not sign a contract extension so Les got players to sign long time contracts with the view that if Foeman did leave our prize assets would be safe or at least cost an immense amount of money to buy - let's also hope Southampton have something up their sleeve and spend big in the summer to show Koeman and Everton we are infact a much bigger club and History doesn't matter.
