Rumour out of Manchester that we are looking at a trio from City for £18m.

Rodwell
Guidetti
Sinclair

All fringe who need to sort their careers after big moves not working out.

Good or bad?

Funkysaint

1.) You would think after a couple of years sat on the bench taking a big pay cheque they would be desperate to resurrect their careers and really put on a show. Could be a great idea if that is their attitude. If I was the coach I would want to sit down with them, have a chat and see if that's the case, if it is, get them in.

2.) Wouldn't moan about any of them, but I'd rather have clasie than rodwell

3.) I certainly feel Rodwell and Sinclair would b good additions can't comment on guidetti as I haven't seen him play but the only problem I see is where would rodwell play because the three as I see it right now is wanyama, spider n cork unless 1 of these leave and on top of this we have Steven Davis n jwp who I feel could have a big breakthrough season this year but Sinclair I want as I feel we lack natural wingers

4.) 30 Jul 2014 10:10:17
Got a feeling that MS will go in the next week. I feel the board could not withstand the backlash from the fans by allowing it to happen now. I think once the new signings have actually happened the supporters will have hope and if they sign Clasie or similar we would quite accept him leaving. Let's face it no team wants a disruptive influence in the squad, we just want dedicated professionals who want to play for us. Most of the players that have left are in for a rude awakening at their new clubs and will then realise what a mistake they have made. Hopefully!

5.) Yeah all good players but can't see this happening at all

6.) It could be a good deal like you said if the attitude is right and they are willing to wait for a place in the team as I feel guidetti isn't as good as pelle

A player I'd love to see given a chance is isgrove he looks like he could do a job for us this season young and hungry thoughts?

7.) Buying Guidetti would be a gamble. He is talented but I don't like the fact that he openly criticized his coach at Stoke when he didn't manage to take a place in the starting lineup. He hasn't really played any first team fotball for more then 2 years.

8.) MS's behaviour is so bad, unless we need the money I would throw the book at him. I know that is then going to be difficult going forward, but every parent knows that you do not reward bad behaviour. Mothercare have a sale on dummies I understand!

9.) 30 Jul 2014 12:15:09
Absolutely agree, he was the stand out player against Bournemouth. I know it was only a friendly against a championship club but he was outstanding. His individual contribution was enough on its own but his instinctive link up play marks him out as something a little bit special.

10.) Rodwell and Sinclair would be great additions, Guidetti has the potential I guess and clearly works well under Koeman

What is happening regarding Tadic?

We apparently had a deal with FC 20 agreed last week then gone very quiet.

Eds, anyone?

Funkysaint

{Ed001's Note - I don't know what is happening with him sorry.}

1.) 04 Jul 2014 12:28:25
Its all gone quiet other than the same rumours about us having signed/nearly signed/in negotiations about the original two players.

2.) Transfers aren't usually quick, if a fee was agreed last week them there is still the player's contract to agree. I wouldn't expect the unveiling of a new player until next week or after. There's no rush.

3.) I heard Koeman's first press conference has been arranged for a week today (Friday 11th July). I have a feeling it will all get announced next week with the manager/presenting 2-3 new players at the first press conference. Hopefully it is Pelle, Tadic and maybe a LB. Would be a good statement to present all three as clear replacements for Lambert, Lallana and Shaw. Loving the new Kit by the way. COYR

4.) 04 Jul 2014 12:45:03
I must admit the not knowing does your head in but we have been used to that. I think everybody knows who else is going ( Lovren for sure) and probably Spider but the press say we have "done deals" with other clubs and then everything goes dead quiet almost as though we are waiting for other clubs to make counter offers for the players we are supposedly after, very odd. So I think the rumour is that nobody actually knows what's happening really! In particular us the fans who have just paid out millions of our hard earned money on season tickets to more or less be ignored. It's a bit like paying out to go to the Isle of Wight festival without knowing the line up.

5.) Basically as far as I can tell, we have hit a stumbling block on Pelle with Feyenoord believing he is worth a fair bit more than we offered (according to certain reports anyway).

As for Tadic the last I'd heard the transfer fee had been worked out but that was just paper talk so could be, and probably is, meaningless.

6.) I seem to remember it always going very quiet for a few days/week before a player was announced, usually because we'd waited after they'd signed before announcing, possibly happened this time in order to get the new kit out or as RedAndWhite said to announce them with Koeman

7.) I heard the fee has been agreed with Twente for Tadic and it's just up to the player, who has other options on the table - Schalke and Sevilla, who are in the CL and EC respectively.

They may ultimately prove more alluring than Saints (in spite of now having stripy shirts), but neither club has met Twente's asking price yet.

Sammy Lee to join our coaching staff not as Brighton Assistant Manager.

Funkysaint

1.) Very odd story this one, had apparently already agreed terms and was effectively considered a Brighton employee then became ours. I've not seen anyone get through that many different jobs in a day since my nephew left university.

2.) Don't think this is a bad appointment myself. I think Koeman has made a good move. Yes Koeman is a good coach along with his brother, but knows prob very little about the league so has brought in some good experience, to help him along.

3.) He's just using us a stepping stone back to liverpool or Spurs. :)

27 Jun 2014 16:58:44
A very worrying rumour doing the rounds that we are interested in Bendtner.

Give me strength!

He is one of the worse players Arsenal have had in years.

Funkysaint

1.) I saw a betting company's response to this tweet. Something along the lines of 'sorry Southampton fans, the news just gets worse'.

But yeah this is clearly a load of *censored*.

2.) If we sign bendtner koeman can pack his bags and do one! Les Reed can also toddle off and the owner might just as well tell the fans to bend over and collectively take one!

3.) 27 Jun 2014 19:52:01
I do hope this is rubbish. please.

4.) I must be the only one not bothered by this. He is obvioulsly wouldn't be our first choice but he is FREE and as squad players go we could do a lot worse!
People were calling for Billy Sharp/Tadanari Lee to be given chances when they were in a squad, IMO he is better than those two.
Get him and Mayuka as back up for Pelle and another top striker.

5.) Got to be better than nothing, could be one of those players that struggles at one club but thrives at another. Doesn't mean a lot I know, but he's got a pretty decent international record

6.) 28 Jun 2014 16:52:22
Don't be daft, it's official. he's terrible and it isn't happening

23 May 2014 00:18:54
So now according to the Mirror, Hull City want Jose Fonte.

This means if we listen to all the journalist trash we have

Luke Shaw to wherever he likes
Lallana to Liverpool
Lovern to Liverpool
Chambers to Arsenal
Spider-Man to Arsenal
Fonte to Hull
Rodriguez to Spuds
Pochatino to Spuds
Osvaldo to wherever we can offload
Ramirez back to Italy
Lambert to West ham

Not much of a team left.

EDs - which ones apart from shaw and Lallana have we actually had proper interest?

Funkysaint

{Ed002's Note - You need to get out of the "no one is interest in our players" and move on. The club and players have been doing well. This has led to offers (non acceptable so far) for a number of players.}

1.) Fonte to Hull for 3 Million. Rooney to Hull for 4 pound fifty and a bus pass// anybody else got any good jokes

2.) Hi ED do you reckon we will sell anyone? I thought shaws bid was accepted?

{Ed002's Note - You know what I think. You keep asking the same questions.}

3.) 23 May 2014 08:19:49
Don't be ridiculous, Hull could never pay waynes wages

4.) I didn't think offers got chucked around as much as the papers are reporting. If I wanted something, the first thing is ask if it was for sale. If yes, then I would offer a low offer with the intention of negotiating I higher offer. If it wasn't for sake, I know it would take a very large offer to change his mind. See where I'm coming from? Surely clubs speak before offering money for a player?
Also £3m got a premier league fort ballet is pretty lame

5.) Now liverpool what Nathaniel Clyne aswell! Please! The papers are losing all credibility and are fast becoming a real laughing Stock? Still got tears in my eyes lol

6.) 23 May 2014 11:09:37
3 m sounds about right

7.) Ed2 - I didn't say I had my head in the sand regarding interest in our players, what I asked was if we had and official offers.

{Ed002's Note - I have explained about the offers - read the posts.}

8.) 23 May 2014 12:07:59
After the shock of having to read the avalanche of reports linking just about every player we have except for Hooiveld and Guly with big money moves I have slowly come round to the view that perhaps the club meant what it said about not selling players. So far no deals have been agreed, there is growing confusion amongst the hacks who can't quite understand why Saints have not jumped to grab any offers, well hey welcome to the new reality, boys.I also disagree with Eds2 about whether haw will leave. He wont. And here is the reason. The game is littered with world class players who never won anything, the ones who did were in teams with a lot of other world class players. United for instance did not win all those titles by merely splashing out in the market, they had a hard core of class home grown to which all they had to do was add. The same now applies to Saints.Shaw will know and have been told that if he wants to win things he needs to stay for a couple of years at least and see where the club ends up. He may be pleasantly surprised to be playing champions league with Saints, it all depends on what they do this summer.World class players will come to us now, whereas last year they would not.it has not gone unnoticed that the likes of Reus Hummels, Kroos have all turned down the chance to join United. United are no longer seen as a hot ticket. I wonder what the response would be if Saints moved for any one of the three mentioned? And by the way Eds2 I am not daft enough to think you have some kind of insider contact who feeds you info as to what Saints are doing with regard to transfers. Pull the other one!

What has happened to all the Pelle doubters?

4 goals in 3 games all comps.

3 goals in 2 games in BPL.

Funkysaint

1.) One swallow does not a summer make. Let's hope he carries that form through the rest of the season.

15 Aug 2014 15:45:09
Saints looking to bring in one or two more players before the window shuts.
Definitely a winger.

Source - Koeman at the press conference today.

Now I know that when I go to the doctors for a 9. 30 appointment I usually see the doc about 9. 50 but just how long does a footballer medical take?

Florin has been in there for two days. Lol

Funkysaint

1.) Possible fail mate,

2.) Work permits, contract details, agent fees all take time to sort out, but just 'cause we haven't announced them yet doesn't mean they haven't signed ;) loads of journos think he'll be announced tomorrow or thursday though

3.) Sainty, does he need a work permit? Romania in the EU now

4.) 12 Aug 2014 22:24:59
Do we know for sure he was in there 2 days ago

5.) 13 Aug 2014 09:29:48
Anyone thought about the club wanting to announce several signings together? DOH!

06 Aug 2014 15:11:22
As we appear to have the strategy of loaning players ATM why don't we have a stab at getting David Villa until the MLS starts?

This would give time for Rodders to get fit.

Funkysaint

1.) His wages would be about 4 times we would pay.

2.) 06 Aug 2014 17:22:48
Gone to Australia

04 Aug 2014 16:08:24
It is not often that I can find the ability to salute the Pompey but I must do it now.

I congratulate them on the very bold and gallent tribute to the men lost in WW1 but putting the names woven into the new kit.

What a fantastic tribute to those brave men that lost their lives for this Country.

For one time only. Well done Pompey

Funkysaint

1.) Good sentiment indeed funky. we salute your bravery.

2.) Totally agree, you took the words out of my mouth Funkysaint, great tribute to remember those lost

3.) 04 Aug 2014 22:56:26
What those people did should never be forgotten. Any of them. Wherever they came from. We are here because of what they gave.

4.) Puts worrying about what players we will or won't get into perspective for a while.

5.) Absolutely, when you think they were probably young kids,
bless them all & thank you.
well done Pompey.

6.) The sentiment is to be applauded no matter what crap team you play for. As was said before it puts everything in perspective.

Looks like RoJo is too difficult with all the difference owners of him so plan B, Gardos is a go.
Still think that we should go for the Dutch boy from Celtic and get rid of either Hol or Yos.
Little Pea looks like a no go as well as he doesn't want to play for us so hope we have a plan b there also which is not Samaras or Bentner.

Watson will know how good Forster is and I am sure he will be advising The Koemanator on if he is the one to go after.

Interesting ref the new Capt as the Koemanator stated that we will see in the friendlies next week what is happening but Spider not back until the week after.

So although I understand that Boruc wants a move, the club has stated a number of times no one else to be sold.

If we sell Arthur then KAM sure that Spider will have grounds for a grievance and rightfully be able to have the hump again.

Would not believe a word about Liverpool.

They are linked with every footballers that breathes.

Not sure how much money they have left after we mugged them off.

I agree St. Psy

We have to realise that despite our wishes to be a huge club and play in the CL we are a long way off even with the players we had. We are replacing them and will be strong again this year after a few games to settle the team.

The media have well and truly poured petrol on the fire regarding the so called crisis at Saints but if you take time to reflect then look at Athletico Madrid, they won the league were minutes away from winning the CL and are losing players at a rapid rate of knots.

The players we have lost will look very average in the teams they have gone too (if they play) and history tells you that not many that leave us push on in their careers, only Bale and Shearer really shone.

Beattie, Crouch, Bridge, Oxo, Walcott, Surman, Oakley, Wallaces x2, Williams and that young CB Matt that went to Man City all dipped after leaving, big fish small pond to small fish big pond.
