WorldSoccerTalk is reporting that Dani Osvaldo will be moving to Internazionale on loan for the 14/15 season.

Happy Man

1.) Inter are interested in Osvaldo but appear cautious because of his track record of falling out with players. They have made a loan offer with an option to buy in an attempt to hedge the risk of signing Osvaldo but Southampton want him off the books on a permanent deal so look set to hold out unless Inter offer a large loan fee.

2.) I don't think anyone knows what's happening with the players yet. That what the meetings about with the new gaffer on monday. I should expect osvaldo will go, but ultimately its down to Koeman

3.) 08 Jun 2014 19:30:00
Osvaldo could have been an inspirational signing but unfortunately the guy seems to go into meltdown at the most inopertune times. Don't be surprised if he is given another chance by the incoming manager, players of his class are not readily available to clubs like Saints

4.) 08 Jun 2014 19:53:14
Agree with Rocket. If we get Koeman then it'll be up to him what happens and who knows, maybe he will be able to get the best out of him. Lord knows we need a striker or three. I would like the Osvaldo thing sorted asap though. We have a lot of money tied up in him and if he isn't coming back which looks increasingly likely, then let's hope we can get a lot of the money back

5.) Hope so but hope they buy him

6.) Best thing for Osvaldo to do is to knuckle down at Saints for a year/ 1/2 a year instead of pushing for a deal he's unlikely to get. I'm sure everyone at Saints would be forgiving considering we have invested heavily in him and give him another shot, and if he still isn't happy I'm sure someone will come knocking for him in January when they're desperate *cough cough* QPR offer big wages and money *cough cough*

7.) Hi Rocket do you know how the meeting went? And what it was about? Thanks

8.) 09 Jun 2014 22:54:26
Does anyone know if Koeman can speak any English?
What's happening Regarding Javier Hernandez and also Bruno Martins indi or Stephan De Vjirj???

Also is there any truth in the Talks between Koeman and Saints have broken down?
Someone give me any insight?

9.) 10 Jun 2014 10:19:21
Koeman speaks fluent English and Spanish. I personally know 2 players families and they do not have a clue what is going on at st marys, they have made no reference to mass dissatisfaction amongst the players and doubt that many will leave.

Sadly, it's done:
" The Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as our new Head Coach on a five-year contract. "
- Tottenham Hotspur Twitter feed.

Moving on, Murat Yakin may be the new manager of Southampton FC. He recently resigned from his role as manager of FC Basel (the best team in Switzerland) and is being looked at by the Saint's board. His greatest managerial achievement happened last year when he managed to beat Chelsea both home & away in the Champions League. Something which earned him huge praise from Jose Mourinho.

Although we know that the manager has gone, we dot know what will happen to the players. So please don't reply with a doom and gloom post about how this is the end. One man is gone, not our team. For all we know this could be the start of an even brighter future.

Stay cheery Saint's fans! 😊

Happy Man

1.) While I would be with Yakin as our next manager (favourite on by the way) I personally would prefer Benitez. At least has a sense of humour as they list the original Judas Hoddle as a candidate. The sky is always darkest just before the dawn COYR

2.) I quite like the prospect of mclaren. If you completely forget he managed England, he would be quite a good manager. He would be fairly loyal, masses of experience in England and in Europe. With a supportive board you never know. Rather him, yakin or Benitez than your houghtons, Clarke, Makay etc

3.) Didn't Yakin say in an interview he'd be interested in managing Southampton? Something about it on talksport earlier

50% win record overall, only lost 2 league games last season, would love it if he actually is interested

4.) 27 May 2014 19:58:39
Shame poch is going. I just hope he doesn't get a load of abuse for "betraying" saints. He did a tremendous job for saints and we enjoyed a fantastic season. The club needs us the supporters to get behind the players (whoever they are) and the new manager. No-one is bigger than the club and saints will progress. Trust me, I have supported saints for 58 years and they are a well run, financially sound and ambitious club. There are only 60 minutes in your darkest hour. Coyr

5.) 27 May 2014 20:01:13
Yeah very good record and may well no of a couple little gems tucked away in that leauge

6.) Why did Yakan leave Basel if so good?

Maybe Saints have been doing their own behind the scenes work.

Chapter closed, on to the next one.

Up The Saints.

7.) Excited about the prospect of next year. As real supporters should be. A new Manager, some new signings, who knows, maybe even a top 6 position and Euro football to follow. Watching some young players coming through and taking points from MUFC, LFC and Spurs. Fabulous. Let the good times roll.

8.) I agree I think they no it has been coming for a while and wouldn't surprise me at all if someone was lined up, think they have to say stuff like we have begun our search for a new manager

9.) He left because he felt he has achieved as much as he could at Basel as was leaving them in a better condition than from when he started with them.

As for young gems in the Swiss Super League, Ebenezer Assifuah has turned many heads over there. He is a twenty year old striker playing for FC Sion, he has scored 15 goals in 31 appearances with 5 assists. He also scored 9 in 12 games at the U20 level with Ghana.

As for the young talents at Basel:

NAME: POS: AGE: STRENGTHS:
Airlind Ajeti - CB - 20 - heading, high pressing.

Fabian Schär - CB - 22 - heading, penalties, pace

Valentin Stocker - LW/LM - 25 - pace, shooting, passing (16 goals & 14 assists in 49 games)

10.) Cheers happy man striker sounds interesting as does the let winger

11.) The Yak has been tipped as next guardiola and won the Swiss league and beat Chelsea and spurs many times in Champo league. He would be a great manager and his playing style is very similar to poch but with less tactical flaws (such as dealing with counter attacks).

12.) He also left Basel a short while ago after the mopo speculation grew

13.) Will the last one out please shut the gate! I expect a few to go now : (

14.) Am I the onle who feels Poch put the club in a position where they couldn't do anything to keep him? We know money was never a problem, and as for keeping top/key players the club can only say nobody is for sale. Ultimately if a player wants to leave they will, so he was asking the board to do the impossible imo. I wish him well, he will be job hunting in no time through no fault of his own, Levy is as stable as a Jelly on a rollercoaster!

i would like to see the board move for Yakin, give him funds and proceeds of any players who wish to leave for pastures new, build a squad with more depth and push on next season. I for one back the board 100%, they haven't really given me reason not too. COYS!

15.) 27 May 2014 23:10:19
I think people being upbeat are right. I remember watching Saints a lot when Ian Branfoot was manager and we aren't going to be as bad as that with any of the names being mentioned (apart from Lennon).

16.) What the difference between Lennon and yakin? Both make big teams look good in poor leagues. And both had fair champions league runs.

17.) Difference between Lennon and Yakin is type of football and type of person.

18.) Not Lennon! He isn't properly proved and his style of play isn't what saints want, yakin all the way

19.) Totally agree The Hedge, I want Laudrup but Yakin would be fine.

20.) Sick name Benali'sTache

21.) ^ I wouldn't want Laudrup if the rumours about him are true

Veho, an up-and-coming English electronics brand based on the South Coast will be Southampton's new sponsor come July 1st. The Saints' board said thank you for the great support to aap3 for their last 3 years as main backer. :)

Happy Man

1.) Why is anyone disagreeing its done and dusted lmao

2.) Aha! I know, right? I think people just like to disagree with me sometimes because of my unshared optimism:)

3.) I actually didn't believe this at first but didn't agree or disagree then looked on the offically site if you include 'ofically site' in the statement the noone will disagree. Sounds like a good deal n keeping it local Veho also have offices all over the world including in singapore and New York! Ill go for a 3 0 today Lallana Lambo and Shaw! COYR!

Looking at the squad, Southampton currently only have 20 players in the team, and with Jay Rodriguez out until approximately October I believe that we won't be able to sell anymore players without going under the squad size limit.
I may be wrong but to me it seems that we'd have to buy before we can sell and if the board stick to the plan of avoiding sales then this could be positive news.

Does anyone (including the editors) know any more about this?

Hey people,
I've just seen that 'Pochettino is in advanced talks with Tottenham'. I came here hoping that nobody would have overreacted but that seems to be the case.
Pochettino has said in many interviews that he is contracted to Southampton for another year and has been really happy with the development and play of his team. Tottenham can't offer him anything worth leaving for; money? Star players? Reputation? He has it all already and more, a secure board for one.

Luke Shaw was said to be the replacement of Patrice Evra at Manchester United in recent weeks but now a new manager has been appointed, signing Evra to an extension as his first bit of business and the papers are beginning to quieten on the potential transfer.

Adam Lallana is Southampton's Captain, someone who has stuck by the club for years and is an integral part of the club and dressing room, he and his teammates were called up to the greatest stage in world football as part of the England squad and his performances have made him a likely starter. This season will be of great value to Lallana, the first time he has been given the appreciation he deserves, the year he is getting married and the year he won 4 honours with his club! He won't want to leave after that, this will have been the best year of his life.

Stay cheery Saint's fans, when you think about it in detail it's hard to think that Southampton FC can be torn apart. 😊

Apparently Pochettino has a 2 million release clause in his contract, meaning he will have to pay a huge amount if he would like to leave for the Tottenham job. Good news, huh? :)

Happy Man

1.) Maybe Tottenham might pay it for him?

2.) Would be some sort of compensation definitely, but hopefully he won't go. A bit of financial backing and soton job has got to the more attractive option (amazing academy vs bizarre chairman).
If he left I can ony see one candidate to replace him as our next manager. Poyet.

3.) See this. But what's £2m in football terms - nothing! Apparently he's on £2m per year. He'll probably earn at least double that at Spuds. No doubt we'll have to give him much more to sign a new deal. He's earned it.

4.) Been shouting for Gus for ages! And with are players who knows what he could do!top manager even more attack minded than Mopo plus seems to also have a plan B up his sleeve!

5.) To the poster saying Poyet do me a favour if he gets saints job i'm done with saints after 38yrs of support he would be the straw to my camel.

6.) Awesome, now I doubly hope Poyet gets it!
In all seriousness, why not Poyet? Because he used to manage Brighton? Who would you suggest as replacement if Poch leaves (which I don't think he will).
Am fully not expecting you to reply

@Smirky, things aren't always fair in football, a swap involving a defender and a striker is very rare. Even at the age of 18 and playing in the first team, Luke Shaw still needs more development and may not be able to perform consistently in every game (I think he's a great player and I am his fan but every player can struggle, he wasn't performing as usual against Ecuador). That said Javier Hernández has been consistently prolific for years and can be a game changer.

This is not a criticism of Shaw but I would expect Van Gaal to look at the transfer in this way, for use in a squad, Hernández is the more valuable player.

Therefore I would assume a straight swap. Personally I'm not expecting a game changing, world class striker and 14/15 million (the value of Hernández again) for an 18 year old defender who has huge potential.

Hernández is valued at approximately 14.5 million on the transfer market, although I would think Van Gaal would see it as more of a straight swap than the striker and money. This is only a guess on a rumour though, all sounds promising to me :)

I believe it, that's exactly what Krueger has told the press and I'm sure that's exactly what's happening.
See, there is reason to be optimistic, this is the truth.
Thanks Gary 😊

Great points qwertyell! I believe that he's more likely to perform like Bony, 26 goal in 33 games with 6 assists this season which is pretty similar to Bony's performance data in the 12/13 season of 37 goals in 36 games with 10 assists.

Overall Bony has been the better player stay wise over the past 3 seasons although Pellé is on top form and has been a consistent top scorer for two seasons now. Both would be great but Bony could be more successful all be it at at least double Pellé's price.

Also not so confident about Guidetti, Gallagher is better than him and has a better record at 18. Personally I don't rate Guidetti.

There have been no other transfers and the club has said they don't want to sell. Until we actually know what's happening for sure, let's keep posts positive!

Good list although I believe Kondogbia plays for AS Monaco and Kovačić is meant to lead the new Inter revolution set up by their new owner Thohir.

Also I believe that central midfield is the team's strongest position and therefore would make there two signings a little less beneficial than the others you mentioned. But once again, good list of players :)

I meant that when Southampton started this project with the youth system that their intentions were never to sell. I can't speak on behalf of the club anymore so maybe you're right and the only reason there is a possibility of a sale is due to Katherina, but who knows? Perhaps the board agreed with it too.
My real thoughts are that the board don't want to sell but will consider it if they receive an even larger bid.

Kolodziejczak (let's call him Kolo ;)) is actually a very good left back, he has been linked as the most viable left back replacement. He started at Olymipique Lyon, another team who have an excellent youth academy and my second favourite team. They built him into a well rounded left sided defender, he can play centrally and is very quick up the wing with great strength. He is only 21 and is the most similar player to Luke Shaw out there, he doesn't have any evident weaknesses and the scout's know this.

Other than that we have been linked with Rafa Silva (Braga), Nicolas Lopez (Udinese), Cristian Benavente (Real Madrid B), Saphir Taïder (Internazionale), Carlos Vela and Scott Sinclair.

The shortlist is due to be released soon :)

I respect your dedication to the club, Monte Cristo but a lot has changed in 50 years. Most notably the economics and the larger focus on youth. Shaw has already been touted for great things; the same with Chambers and Reed and even for Matt Targett. If you look at Manchester United or Chelsea, most of their money is spent trying to build a team of already world class players; at Southampton the club has strived to grow world class players from the ground up.
The brilliance of our job has made it evident that some of our players could go on to be better than many of the players Chelsea or Man U could ever buy. Lallana is a special case because he is the captain of their philosophy, he is the man there to help bring them into the game by assigning them roles.
For that reason the richest clubs will try and buy out all of these players in order to take the same philosophy into their clubs. It was different 50 years ago because there was never the amount of talent in the squad as there is today (bar Le Tissier).

Apologies for the essay but I hope that has she's some light on my opinion of the club is in it's best ever postition in 50 years and that the demand will be greater for younger, well taught players in a money run world. :)
