Ed007. Have you any news on the rumoured FF and VVD moves from Celtic to Saints? Thx

SaintLawrence

{Ed007's Note - There's nothing new.}

Pelle has signed. Next.

Good news!

SaintLawrence

1.) Welcome Pelle. I hope you are as prolific for the Saints as you have been at Feyenoord! I expect your first hatrick against that Scouse lot. ok so whos next??

2.) Welcome pelle

3.) 12 Jul 2014 19:20:24
Does anyone know whether he'll be flying with the team to play the pre-season games in Holland and Belgium?

4.) Awesome news, let's hope he replicates what he's achieved over the last 2 seasons in the EPL.
More signings please, still need up to 4 more quality signings to add depth or replace others - COYR

5.) Just heard that Liverpool have decided to bid for Tadic and Pelle

6.) Joins up with the squad monday, his borthday.

7.) Considering we're signing him from a Dutch team, I should imagine we'll meet him over there :)

Thomas Tuchel looks a possibility especially after Les Reed's interview. Young, high press game, successful (relatively), unknown compared to Koeman. Thoughts?

SaintLawrence

1.) Tuchel would be a class Manager - he has proven he can do things on a budget - better than no respect Koeman - Think Koeman sees us as a stepping stone to a larger club - we need a manager who wants to stay and grow with the club

2.) Would Tuchel not see us as a stepping stone then?

I think unfortunately, until we can break into and be consistent as a top 6 team everyone will see us as a stepping stone.

My wish for next season is get a manager, build on the squad then be above Spurs.

3.) Tuchel is more likely to see us a stepping stone he probably would be looking for the Spurs when Mopo gets sacked at Christmas

4.) Isn't he having a year out of football?

5.) I would have liked tuchel, but reports indicate is having a year out of football. The les reed interview to me, pointed towards koeman.

6.) I'm not so worried about Managers using us as a stepping stone, or moving on for that matter (because realistically it'll always happen as with players!) - The only thing I hope is that whoever we bring in will take us to the next level. If this continues to happen then the club will always progress :-)

7.) I agree with you SaintBen1, as long as we progress that's the main thing. But again, having that consistency in a manager is something we all would like to see but never actually happens anywhere for any club. Just have to look at the top teams in the world (man city change managers every two years, Man U, Barcelona etc. ) There will be changes no matter where you go, you can't expect someone to stay in the same job for 25 years people like a new challange.

8.) Mancini? I'd prefer koeman. Still set on koeman ROcket?

9.) 11 Jun 2014 12:56:25
I missed the titles, big european fixtures etc etc that Tuchel has won that were quoted directly by Les Reed as something the canditate has. Its Koeman or FDB at this point. Outside chance of Yakin.

10.) Any manager would use Southampton FC as a stepping stone. Let's face it guys, we're not Real Madrid. We do need stability, and a high profile manager like Koeman would calm things down. There are players with 1 year left of their contracts that needs to be taken care of: Fonte, Cork, Boruc, Yoshida. Then there are the ones figuring in the daily transfer rumors. Lallana and Shaw should only be allowed to leave by handing in a transfer request, and they buying club meeting the Saints valuation of the player (s).

11.) Definitely need to get cork, jay rod and fonte on new deals Coyr. Get koeman in this week, and announce it. Anything in Mancini link ED?

12.) Stevo98 I admire your persistence. From what I have heard I can't see past koeman but believe me Mancini would be a disaster. He would have been better at a ruthless setup. Spurs?

Alexandre Lacazette looks a possibility now that Liverpool have settled on Remy. Might be too expensive, especially with CB (s) being a priority. Thoughts?

SaintLawrence

1.) So Liverhampton look like signing Remy for 8.5 million, an absolute steal, I think we should have tried to sign him, what are other Saints' fans thoughts?

2.) Wage demands for Remy would be astronomical. QPR were paying him mad amounts of money for such a small club just because they have the money from their owners. Liverpool can and will pay those kinds of wages themselves though.

Cash + Lucas Leiva for Lovren? Leiva a replacement for Schneiderlin

SaintLawrence

1.) No Thanks not a good deal IMO
Morgan will be a hard player to replace, we should focus on keeping him not replacing him

2.) I too hope we keep Morgan, however, I suspect we won't. Lucas Leiva is therefore definitely an option in my opinion.

3.) Give Morgan a long over due pay rise make him captain and show him he's the main man! And we are still pushing for Europer league then he may stay!
He the one that should have got all the awards! Not lala!

Why don't we sign Joel Veltman, Ajax CB, from under the noses of Spurs and Arsenal? Together with Van Dijk and Fonte this will give us a bit more depth. Lovren can go for £25m and Veltman and Van Dijk will cost us circa £25m. Two for the price of one! Thoughts?

Take a look at Hakim Ziyech. Everton, PSV and Ajax are all interested in him. I think at £2.5m he would be a great addition to our squad. Bring on Dusan tomorrow!

Hopefully when we are finished with our new signings we will have much more depth to our squad, which is something we lacked last season.

I completely agree Fatdave. This isn't a surprise at all.

I think Chambers will stay, but Morgan and Lovren want to go and will go.

We are being heavily linked with a number of good quality replacements, Tadic, Pelle, Immers, Kongolo & Guidetti etc. I sure others will also arrive to give us far more strength in depth than last season.

Coaching team looks strong, all is well, a little patience is all that is required.

How many players do you want to pick for one team!

Agree/Disagree buttons are on the 'rumour' tab.

My team would be:

Forster

Clyne Fonte Gardos Bertrand

Schneiderlin Wanyama

Tadic Davis JWP

Pelle

If we were at home, I would consider playing Long & Pelle together.

PS Poor old Feyenoord!

So we can sign De Vrij, Martins Indi, Forster and Kongolo for around the same sum as we will get for Lovren. Mmmm if only life was so simple.

I would be delighted to see 2 of the 4 mentioned and Cork offered a new contract.

I think that Osvaldo and Pelle could work. However, Osvaldo has already shown his contempt for the club through his attitude to returning to training on time. RK's attitude is clearly get back to training and talk to us because we are not playing your games. If RK can get Osvaldo to eat humble pie and show some respect for the club and his team mates, then a partnership with Pelle has a chance, I'm sure it would certainly be entertaining on many fronts! I'm not holding my breath though!
