If Yakin was appointed as the new Saints boss - then it would indicate to me that talks between spurs and saints for MoPo where going on way before the season ended, it seems a bit strange as to why Yakin would leave his post as a manager having secured CL and back to back trophies. My guess is he quit for a new challenge with Saints so no compensation would need to be paid.

Who know's just a guess.

Saintsfan221

{Ed005's Note - Yakin leaving Basel was nothing to do with the Saints. Lazio was the intended destination.}

1.) Hi ed005 do you know if Lazio are still in the frame for him

{Ed005's Note - I no nothing useful and am not here to answer any of your questions.}

2.) So Ed005 why are you here?

{Ed002's Note - To make sure the posts get posted.}

3.) Welcome back ED02.
Hope you're here to stay!
I'm sorry again for some of the moronic comments you were subjected too recently by some of the members on here.

{Ed002's Note - I am not going to answer piles of questions nor I am going to accept any abuse. We will see how it goes. I am also really busy the next two days.}

4.) Eds back! Not going to fire loads if questions your way, although I have an inkling you have inside info on the managerial saga ;)

Lallana and Shaws deals were well in place and have been for a while. Feel quite betrayed by the board who have hinted at no sales.
I feel this goes two ways with the gather:
1. He knew about the deals way before his appointment and has been guaranteed money to spend on the players he likes
2. He didn't know so it wouldn't surprise me if he left after the clubs statements of 'we don't need to sell our best players'.

I am personally going to hate seeing Lallana in a Liverpool shirt next year, hope he will be a flop and comes straight back to us :-).

Saintsfan221

sorry but
once a selling club
always a selling club despite what krueger and reed say
lovren will be next
forestsaint

2.) If we continue to sell we won't attract better players than we sold.
I hope Lovren doesn't go as that'll be another quality player gone, who I don't believe we could replace

If Lallana was to leave (IMO I think he will) I would really hope that the new gaffa pushes Ward-Prowse through this year even more than last year - although unlikely due to new managers wanting to bring new faces in, I still think he could do a job in that playmaker role.

I totally agree jwp has all the attributes to replace lallana

2.) Yeah jwp has a massive future hopefully poch keeps his mitts off him, personally I think he to young to goto spurs as it's to unstable with loose cannon levy in charge

3.) 07 Jun 2014 12:30:07
JWP is different to lallana doubt he can replace him, definitely need to bring an exciting player like Lallana in if he goes

As much as I rate Luke Shaw as a very good LB I kind of feel like he's a bit like Jack Wilshere in some respects - a v. good player at his age but has stopped progressing into becoming a world-class CM as he was tipped to be a few yeard back. Just like Shaw but feel like he will hit a brick wall in terms of progression for a few years if he moves.

Moving will only put a £30m pricetag on his head and become more nervous on match days to peform knowing everyone is expecting him to do well = less level-headed like he is down here. Not saying he won't do well, but can imagine a few mistakes and giving away some penalties might damage is thinking and and become more cautios instead of being a more freedom wing-back like he is down here.

Saintsfan221

1.) Don't see the comparison. Wilshere's progress has been totally decimated by injury - he was out of the game for nearly two years all told, and still doesn't look properly fit, merely trying to play through the pain. That burst of pace to skip away from challenges just isn't there any more.

Wouldn't be a surprise to wake up one day in the next 18 months and read that he's been forced to retire on medical advice due to a long term ankle problem.

2.) I apsolutly agree with this, plus the fact if he under performs if he goes to United he will probably be switched with evra

Sorry for the awful spelling mistakes and repetitiveness (if that's even correct) typing too quickly at work!

Fair play to RL on his dream move (if goes through). Can't see him having too much impact at Liverpool - mainly used as a back up IMO. Wish him the best though.

Bottom line,

No one big is coming in

No one big is going out

Saints don't sign players in Januray we never do!
We are a team that buys in the summer and strenghtnes throughout the season, and from then we try and strengthen were we have lacked.

Saintsfan221

1.) Forren. Sharp. and that loan from Spurs in the last two so 'we never do' is a factually incorrect. statement

2.) Does Forren count? We signed him, he was with our under 21s and then we got our money back in the summer.

3.) Yh but not as many as we do in the summer, which is the main point and the only one out of them who had an impact was Sharp, so it's rare we sign a big first team player for the squad

4.) It all depends on who is available, after all Liverpool signed Suarez in January window, if Astori is available then why not?

5.) Yogi Bear before Celtic grab him. It'll save us millions in the long run

6.) Let's see if Cardiff sign Forren - then we'll know whether he counts or not.

Don't the teams promoted normally play the top 3? I'm sure it's something like that.

TimTasker94 - forgive me, my knowledge of players houses isn't the greatest but I am a bit warey of the fact Koeman has a veiwing in Winchester when I'm sure he hasn't heard of the place before. I do wish it was true

I work in Winchester and know that commute to Southampton and back is bad enough everyday, let alone getting to Staplewood. I think someones having you on mate.
A lot of new startes at Saints (players etc) are put up in the Grand Harbour for a while until they find a place.

I agree with you SaintBen1, as long as we progress that's the main thing. But again, having that consistency in a manager is something we all would like to see but never actually happens anywhere for any club. Just have to look at the top teams in the world (man city change managers every two years, Man U, Barcelona etc. ) There will be changes no matter where you go, you can't expect someone to stay in the same job for 25 years people like a new challange.

Best thing for Osvaldo to do is to knuckle down at Saints for a year/ 1/2 a year instead of pushing for a deal he's unlikely to get. I'm sure everyone at Saints would be forgiving considering we have invested heavily in him and give him another shot, and if he still isn't happy I'm sure someone will come knocking for him in January when they're desperate *cough cough* QPR offer big wages and money *cough cough*

I do hope we can keep to our english tradition of players - Understand the need for more depth and some foreign players can do that for us. But don't want to completely cut out the english talent we already have. (i. e. JWP, Chambers) I do expect some foreign players to come in but the main point of Keomans appointment I bet was to carry on producing high quality youngsters.

Think I would cry if we somehow ended up with Iago Aspas.
