There is a nasty rumour that Levy from spurs is going to madrid to try and sign toby
Ihope Les Reed is already there doing his job

1.) 02 Jul 2015 10:03:44
He has gone to talk to athletico for another player

29 May 2015 10:21:39
So Rodgers thinks he can get players on the cheap from Saints Why would Nat Clyne want to go there
Liverpool are not a big club anymore and have not been for sometime now

1.) 29 May 2015 11:54:38
Try calling Rickie Lambert and ask what its like playing for liverpool. oh that's right Rodgers never plays him. so who in their right mind would sign for such a club.

2.) 29 May 2015 17:35:23
I don't see what they hoped to achieve by making such a poor bid, they must've known it was never going to accepted, it sounds like he's going to stay now which is a positive so we can build on what we have which is great!

3.) 29 May 2015 17:55:34
U won't 20mil
Ill offer 10mil
Then we will meet in the middle 15mil
Just how haggling works.
If clyne wanted to stay he probably would have singed months ago
Frustrating for fans but its how it works

4.) 29 May 2015 20:32:13
i must of missed LFC bids of 10m for lovren and 14 for lallana. they have fully lost the plot up there.

5.) 29 May 2015 22:05:35
Last season liverpool sold suarez and had champions league they felt flush and didn't haggle similar to spurs when they sold bale.
But I was just saying it is similar to when u look at a car on a forecourt u would not just pay wot they ask u try a lower price and a good way of doing that is to test the water and offer well below then the seller will reply with a price he is willing to accept.
On top of that when AL DL RL was with saints motd pudits sky pudits and all the rest hyped them all season.i haven't heard the same hype about clyne (i ain't saying he ain't as good).so the bidding will be different in approach.

6.) 29 May 2015 22:07:03
Sorry to go on but there were bids rejected till keoman was on board

7.) 29 May 2015 23:37:59
I understand how haggling works but we are in full control here so can set the minimum price we want for the player so it's more like pay what we want so £20-25m or don't bother, hopefully he'll sign a new contract soon anyway

8.) 30 May 2015 01:46:38
We are far from in control if we reject all bids and clyne stays but don't sign a contract extension then next year he will leave for free then sign with who he wonts and get himself
a much higher payday.we need him to have more than a year left to run on his contract to be in a good position.
and it is quite clear he has held off signing an extension to most clubs so they will circle like vultures.

9.) 30 May 2015 01:52:09
Our board will not risk losing him for free they will sell.i won't nothing more than our best players to stay and to build on wot is already there.and I think clyne is helping buy telling press he is happy to stay so we can get the best price for him.

10.) 30 May 2015 10:37:53
Suspect Clyne is waiting for todays result, and if Saints make Europe will sign contact extension pretty smartish.

11.) 30 May 2015 11:08:15
Could be right saint martin I read clyne made a comment that he see no reason we can't compete as a top team in the prem .i personally think he's learnt to play hardball through his agent no such a bad thing.but he was part of the team that still faded away second part of the season.mane's form was a life saver

02 Feb 2015 19:23:04
just seen on one page lierpool want 5 million for ricky lambert
any club who pays that must be mad

1.) 02 Feb 2015 20:50:29
Possibility of Bertrand perminently signing

2.) 02 Feb 2015 23:30:00
Bertrand has Signed :)

21 Aug 2014 09:16:41
apparently saints not interested in gonzales
just paper talk

1.) Best to not speculate and let Roko get on with it.

Only 9 days to go!

2.) Good, wouldn't want him or townsend. Would welcome nathan redmond or jeremein lens though.

3.) 21 Aug 2014 21:27:01
wow liverhampon do bring it on themselves don`t they, ballotteli 16m, probably £200 k per week? saints bought long for 12m, over priced probably, but what will he be on £30k per week?, that's the difference, shane long was within our wage structure. I think we have done well bought some decent players and a couple more to come that will take our spending over 60m, I don't think we can really grumble about Ronald and the board not showing intent, credit where credit is due I think

4.) Mario is on 90k a week. however nani has gone on loan to sporting and united are still paying his 120k a week wages haha.

5.) Long is on 55000
Mario is on 90000
Stop making numbers up

6.) Ther is no way long is on £55,000 pr week. I think you should stop making the numbers up!

7.) 23 Aug 2014 00:54:44
i am not making numbers up, I don`t know what money these boys are on and nor do anyone else out there. hence the question marks, all I am saying is we can not and will not pay crazy wages, and I don't blame the board

8.) Watch Redmond play Ipswich last night and I kept a keen eye on him (Mrs is a Town fan so was interesting!!). well. guys, considering his hype, I did not rate him at all!! he was getting turned inside out and there was no final product - really couldn't cross or deliver! If he is as good as he is, he should of shone - player of the game for me was Hoolahan - a mini attacking Spider and looked a cut above the rest! I would be happy to sign him at a good price as one for the future - absolutely. but as a winger to go in the first team - we have better in the U21!!

9.) People thinking redmond is our answer to the winger we need are just hyped because 1. he is english. 2. he scored a decent goal against us. luckily we are not in for him.

14 Aug 2014 10:55:11
if jack cork leaves saints it will show
krueger is telling lies ie no one leaving
everyone knows spider is going despite what the board say
so cork going
spider going
boruc going
j rod when fit going
not looking good is it and being replaced by
mediocre players

1.) Up until now I have been quite hesitant to criticise the board or Koeman too much. All the other departures whilst sad and unfortunate at least have a little logic attached to them. This has none!
Personally I'd have made him captain this season. He is better than Wanyama but are the board afraid to admit defeat and put the £15 million man on the bench? Who knows. As I say this all makes little sense. Having watched the drivel that was our national side this summer I honestly think he has England potential. £3 million? £3 million?!!!! Congratulations palace you have just picked up the bargain of the summer. Absolutely unbelievable!

2.) Forest. have you forgot to take the pills today? Lol

3.) Cork won't be needed esp if the rumours him turning down a new contract and RK wanting Clasie are true. Do you not think there's a reason why Cork is more highly rated by fans than by the people who see him every day? RK doesn't play him and MP never wanted to, says something imo.

Morgan won't be going, seems to have knuckled down and got on with it - will take a huge bid for management to change their stance

Boruc won't be going, he's got chronic back problems, has injections before every match by reports, one of the reasons he hasn't had a new contract is because he's planning on retiring at the end of the season

J-Rod will be here for the season, won't pass a medical until way after the summer window closes and teams will want to see how he does once he has returned, which likely puts any potential transfer back until summer 2015

Who are these 'mediocre' players we've brought in? Everyone we've bought so far is at least as good as what have left.

4.) Krueger telling lies? so we bring in a decent keeper like everyone wanted, now Boruc isn't happy and may look to move how can Krueger be responsible for that, Morgan wants out and is doing all he can to do so, what can he do about that. fans preach in RoKo we trust but do half of the fans? season hasn't started yet give him and the board 10 games, if your not happy then scream and moan all you want

5.) Cork is a fans favourite because he gives 100% every game. It looks like wanyama, jwp and spider will be ahead of cork in the deep cm role. I believe if he was quicker, and scored a few goals he would be more 1st choice. He would be a quality signing for somebody, but koeman is the manager and if he doesn't want to play cork then I trust his judgement. With one year on his contract, it's a big decision for him as a player. He could be 1st choice in many pl clubs. I think that shows our strength in that position, a d that the board will not sell spider this season.

6.) 14 Aug 2014 14:02:37
I think you are spot on Legod. Once Poch left I was hoping the thirst to insist on playing Wanyama ahead of Cork would be quenched. Sadly not!
The 3 million tag though a joke. Is down to the fact he has only 1 year left on his contract. I watched Cork dominate Yaya Toure last season and he's been class for 3 years now. As for Claisse? The only reason we might get him is because of Koeman.

7.) "Everyone we've bought so far is at least as good as what have left. "

That's a rose-tinted spin if ever there was one.

Bertrand as good as Shaw? The view of his mother, perhaps, but no-one else.

Tadic as good as Lallana? The jury's out on that one, but he's definitely the best of the signings.

Pelle as good as Lambert? Looks a limited lump on the pre-season evidence so far. Pitiful record in Italy.

Taider as good as Schneiderlin (who he's been brought in to replace)? Unlikely.

Gardos (if he signs) as good as Lovren? It'll be a hell of a coup for the scouting department if that's the case - especially as Spurs overlooked him to sign the not-very-good Chiriches instead.

And Chambers hasn't been replaced at all.

8.) Well I've heard some tosh in my time but this takes the biscuit. medIocre players they are internationals all great players they need to gel as a team and Ron is better thanPoch at that the glass IS half full be patient. :-):-):-):-)

9.) I'm not being funny but lambert was definitely on his last legs and if you want to talk about pre seasons maybe you should check his out.

10.) Pelle's link up play is already better than Lambert's, I've seen the english pre season games and he looks less of a 'limited lump' than Rickie did.

Tadic looks superb, everything Lallana was with an eye for goal and some pace on him - looks a real bargain if he really cost less than 10mil.

Forster - future England no. 1, nothing more to say than that

Bertrand looks at home playing in this team - decent going forward, not had a lot to deal with going backwards yet. will take the pressure of Targett this season (who will be as good as Shaw) and then provide decent cover if we sign him permanently.

Taider - changed the game when he came on against leverkusen - tenacious, quick, decent passer, decent shot on him. More forward than Morgan, defo not a replacement for him.

Gardos by all accounts will be an absolute steal at 6mil. Spurs overlooked a lot of quality players to sign what they did, not exactly a good example, are they?

Long - he's the fox in the box striker most have been wanting. Done well at WBA when he had someone to play off of and decent service. 12 million for him isn't bad considering Borini went for 14

maybe give them a chance to show what they're like in the prem before slating them? There's no way I could be a fan of something if I constantly looked at it as negatively as some of you do.

11.) Have to say I agree with caseysaint. Yes we have lost a decent Manager and pretty much the core of our side. HOWEVER the players we have brought in deserve to have their chance before we start deciding whether we up or downgraded. Give it 10 games and see where we stand before we make a judgement. I seem to remember the same names popping up about the worry of bringing an unknown (in England) manager to replace Adkins. That was 18 months ago and how did that pan out?

Why would Nat Clyne want to move to Liverpool beats me
They have been living on past glories for years now
Clyne should stick with the SAINTS as we are a club on the up now

1.) 09 Jun 2015 18:35:38
1.) They pay more.
2.) They regularly challenge for trophies.
3.) They're a bigger club.

Liverpool have been dining out on their 1980s success for too long, but in the meantime, they've won the Champions League, a couple of FA Cups, the League Cup, and regularly finished in the top four.

We may not like it, but the reality is, they're a step up from Southampton and in all likelihood will again finish above us next season. If that's who Clyne chooses to join, so be it, move on. There's no point in deluding ourselves that Saints are higher in the footballing pecking order than they actually are.

2.) 09 Jun 2015 19:35:38
The only counter argument we can really make at this time is we're a club riding a serious wave of ambition and consistency, both of which will be tested during this summer and the coming season. It's an incredibly exciting time to be a Saints supporter, but we've got a heck of a long way to go before we've consolidated ourselves and turned the top 6 into a top 7!

05 Jun 2015 21:20:53
ijust hope Les Reed is at the front of the queue to sign Toby
That is one player we need to sign quickly and not um and ahh about the price

1.) 05 Jun 2015 22:13:19
Mitchell will beat les to it
We only have to pay 7mil but if A Madrid won't to sell for more they only have to pay a couple mil compensation
I can easily see chelsea, spurs, paying 15mil for if we have a chance toby will have to say I won't southampton and les will have to offer at least 11mil to have a chance.
but u are right we definitely need to do everything we can to sign toby.les didn't have a problem signing long but I bet that only came down to long being willing to sign for low weekly wage and I don't think toby will turn down big wages for little wages .

2.) 05 Jun 2015 23:21:04
If he were to join Saints there's no doubt we'd offer him the highest wages possible. Also according to one journalist who's supposedly well sourced on Saints, there is an additional clause that Atletico will have to pay us a further fee for if they reject a bid by us in order to sell Toby to another team. If that is the case then a massive well done to Les Reed and others who negotiated such a clause.

3.) 06 Jun 2015 00:43:33
Yeh according to this journalist they have to pay us 1-2mil or mabey 3mil the figure talked about keeps changing but anyway let's say they sell to spurs for 15mil then they pay us the top 3mil they still end up with 12mil witch if we work out is 5mil more that wot we have negotiated in the loan contract because this journalist reckons we have a clause to buy for 7mil.
any team will sell there assets for best price possible.
And on a side note the loan contract was till end of season and the season is over so that contract is over and toby is back with the parent club surely if there was this clause it should have been activated before the contract ended
Unless i'm missing something

4.) 06 Jun 2015 07:51:21
We have the option to buy at the end of the season. That being after the last game, so the game time has stopped but the contract is still running until we decide against or for a perminent transfer, at that point Madrid will have to refuse the purchase and pay us compensation or sell for the nagotiated price. Either way we get a decent player for £6-7m or £2-3m for nothing.
Good business les reed

5.) 06 Jun 2015 09:56:47
Well yeah the bit you're missing is we only have to match whatever any team bids, minus the 3 million they'd have to pay us if they were to sell to someone else. So let's say hypothetically Spurs offer £12 million, we only have to up our bid to £9 million and they should accept.

Personally I can't see why Chelsea will be interested, they have Zouma as third choice, I don't think they will block his path as he seems already very capable of playing in the top flight. Similarly with Atletico unless they decide to cash in on Godin or Miranda, they have Jimenez who is third choice, and Juan Fran as right back, so there's no guaranteed pathway there for Toby yet.

6.) 06 Jun 2015 12:52:23
The season is over when players return the new campaign will start if this clause was there then we should have done wot we did with bertrand.
And if we pay more wot is all this talk of a clause in the contract a contract will have a date and the season is over that is why loans return to parent club.
I hope toby does sign but my personal opinion is that if we were going to we would have already done it.
Why would u have a option to buy then not buy but then pay more

7.) 06 Jun 2015 16:33:24
I've said this before but I honestly don't believe there ever was this 1.5m buy out clause. There was nothing posted about it by the club, nor irk journos when we signed him and the rumour only started when Marca (pretty much Spain's daily star) posted about it and no one has been able to confirm it since

Anyway, no one else can sign him until atleast July 1st, so let's not panic until then

8.) 06 Jun 2015 17:26:30
I agree with ya but one thing bertrand was brought but toby wasn't just seems strange that we had a opertunity to but didn't.becuase a player of his caliber is allways going to show his worth with regular game time.
To be honest I would love us to sell only morgan because of the noise he has made about cl football keep the rest of the team together and build on wot we have.every one can dream A.

9.) 06 Jun 2015 19:50:48
Just have faith Southampton87 that whatever happens, whether we sell Schneiderlin, Clyne or don't sign Alderweireld the club will have replacements in mind who will do the job. It's all well and good you trying to be the realist supporter, expecting the worse in every scenario but just as Saints have a number of dilemmas to face this summer so does every other team.

10.) 06 Jun 2015 20:23:03
I am a realist not trying to be
Schniederlin and clyne are waiting for the window to open then they will be off I ain't one of these that predict saints fc's world is going to end just that we can't keep selling and think we will be able to replace them every time .keoman was massive in what he achieved this season and he was the reason tadic and pelle joined.yes I know les negotiated but if koeman wasn't the manager these players including toby would probably not have came.

11.) 06 Jun 2015 21:18:26
But you being a realist and what you expect will happen, is no different to me being optimistic and speculating that Clyne could sign a new deal, and that we will sign Toby. Your viewpoint is common place among the supporters, just as you'll find mine is too and at this stage there's no knowing what will happen.

12.) 06 Jun 2015 23:44:16
Fare enough saintsfan29
I agree with u there bud

01 Jun 2015 16:11:07
why haven't saints contacted Classie yet
before someone else does it and maybe miss out

1.) 01 Jun 2015 22:18:36
Roma are at the front of the queue for Clasie, unfortunately. If they can stump up the transfer fee, with Champions League on the table, I don't think Saints will be able to compete with that.

2.) 02 Jun 2015 00:04:30
Like typical saints it will be left till last minute when we realise the squad isn't good enough and 3 or 4 have moved on we will be forced to panic buy ie like Long, you would like to think that they've known Morgan was going to leave for a year, plenty of time for this 'black box' to identify targets

3.) 02 Jun 2015 09:01:57
What makes you think they haven't identified targets and are in the process of contacting clubs?
You have to remember most players and agents are on holiday leave now, with u21 teams heading to the championships.

4.) 02 Jun 2015 09:32:52
Yes, as Romsaint says, I'm sure Saints are all over the recruitment process, which will have been in the planning for months. No news doesn't mean nothing's happening. Don't panic. Yet.

But they obviously need to know one way or the other about Schneiderlin, Clyne and Alderweireld as soon as possible in order to set the ball in motion on their potential replacements.

Reports today that Chelsea are moving on Alderweireld and that Saints did take up their option to sign him permanently from Atletico, but they in turn exercised their option to pay £1.5m to turn it down. What a strange agreement that was, all round.

5.) 02 Jun 2015 10:15:16
This transfer window is more complicated than last year. Despite the fact there was clearly no planning involved with last summer's departures, this time there will have been but it comes down to if and when bids are received for Schneiderlin or Clyne, and likewise, if Atletico Madrid are willing to let us negotiate a deal for Toby, and one that is affordable.

So assuming the majority of our transfer budget will be based around sales first, we cannot start any negotiations with a target until those sales have happened.

I would expect the club will know within two weeks whether there's any chance for a deal with Toby, likewise whether Clyne is re-signing or moving on. However Schneiderlin may well be a long drawn out affair as there's a multitude of central midfielders likely to be on the market this summer, and Schneiderlin might not be anyone's number one choice despite what the media suggests.

6.) 02 Jun 2015 10:37:06
Jesus Christ everyone knows saints do things on the quiet, how many of our signings in the last 5 years have you known about ahead of time?

As has been said, no news doesn't = no contact. Much the same as how paper rumours don't = deal done. Clubs may make offers before us, they may discuss terms with players before us but that's no guarantee they'll sign for them. Real life isn't like Fifa/football manager where players sign for the first team that has an offer accepted

7.) 02 Jun 2015 11:48:55
A note of sanity at last, SaintySaintSaint!

The season is finished, the media are still trying to sell speculation around football. Agents are desperate to inflate their income. Saints will be busy behind the scenes but will do all they can NOT to feed the parasites. So, until info. is on the OWS just assume 99% is baseless drivel. If you can't believe that, suggest you look at the Man. Utd. site to see how they are suddenly "experts" re. Morgan, and how they have absorbed such drivel.

8.) 02 Jun 2015 12:27:57
In truth jrod osvaldo ramirez elia toby aderwield ducijic maya long .i remember seeing there names mentioned that there coming here before they came.problem is I heard and read about a 100 different names to.but since koeman has been here its been reported more mainly ducth press.and portugal press for some reason but it is like when nicola cortese was here there were more accurate reports from italy.

25 May 2015 10:23:03
if saints can get Austin and j rod back to full fitness what a striking partnership that could be

22 Feb 2015 19:24:46
so brendan rodgers has said the saints players were going down to easy looking for a penalty
thats a bit rich coning from him as he managed suarez and gerrard just to name two liverpool players who went down like they were pole axed

1.) 23 Feb 2015 18:52:12
Brenda is pretty unique. For much of human evolution it has been vital that the millions of brain cells, the couple of eyes and ears and the one mouth are utilised in that sequence.
Brenda is now seeking to totally reverse that.
I am just pleased we have yesterdays match over and done with so I can consign him to my ignore profile for the rest of the season.

2.) 24 Feb 2015 10:44:30
I think Mr Rodgers is in for a reality check this weekend against City . He keeps on saying how wonderful his Liverpool team are, ok they have had some good results recently but in truth they have played sides that have not played to their true potential . We weren't good Sunday, however but for a couple of dodgy decisions, bad luck and poor tactics we would have beaten them quite easily, we would have done a couple of months ago . Just hope Koeman sees that a couple of wins puts us back in the mix and that must start at the Hawthorns on Saturday.

What business is it of Gold at all what saints are paying Charlie Austin.
He should be more concerned with what his club is paying sick note Carroll since he has been at West Ham not very good value for money is it no wonder Liverpool got shot of him

I am begining to wonder if Ron Koeman has any ambition just like the board worrying times ahead seems likely
