Lots of banter going about but for me it is.

Micah Richards - 6 month loan with a view to 10M permanent deal after he makes the England squad with Adam and Jay Rod.

We will sell or loan Yos Hoover Fox and Gaston.

Your thoughts

Why richards? he wouldn't get a game here. and Gaston won't be leaving, nor will Yos Hoover or Fox until the end of the season

Agree0 Disagree0

Richards is a great player, I think put him at CB, agree sell Yoshida and Fox but Jos played well against chelsea

Agree0 Disagree0

Micah Richards wants a guaranteed start, he wouldn't get that at Saints and I don't think we need him as a RB is not a priority.
We need a player with a killer pass who can supply Osvaldo properly in the final third.

Agree0 Disagree0

Richards to play CB - tough on Fonte but Micah is class

Agree0 Disagree0

Richards has been suggested before, and he could be a great signing. He looked really good at City before his injuries. His greatest attributes were power and pace, a must in the modern CB. If we are serious about putting a team together that is mainly English internationals, Micah is one that could be good enough to be in that England team if he lives up to his potential. He was not played regularly as a CB so his true potential in this position is unknown, his RB play is solid, but we are well covered in that area. If we do have a secret agenda to do a Spain and provide the spine of the future England team then Micah make perfect sense. He is a POSSIBLE England Int that is not getting a game at a big club and could be tempted to join our "Saints Secret Agenda".

Agree0 Disagree0

One would imagine, that coming from Manchester City, Micah would be on rather large wages. As a Center Back he is vertically challenged.

I'd far rather we didn't.

Agree0 Disagree0

Re: vertically challenged. Richards is one of those freak players with a prodigious leap. He doesn't need to be 6'4" to win headers.

Not that I think Saints should or will sign him. But over the course of his career, his height won't be what prevents him becoming a top class CB. His attitude, immaturity and injury proneness, on the other hand.

Agree0 Disagree0

So because he ain't 6ft plus mean he is no good as a centre back? Someone should of told puyol that.

Agree0 Disagree0

I suspect we could bring in a young, quality CB but who it might be is not too clear, not just because Saints are always quiet about such things but also the way we play such a high line is not always easy for a CB so I anticipate MPs opinion on this aspect will be just as important as the other quality considerations. In other words, we could all be surprised!

Okay i'm expecting a lot of stick for this but it looks to me like Rupert Lowe possibly signed Chambers, Lallana, Spiderman, Shaw, JWP, Harry Reed, Bale?, Ox?, Walcott? etc, got us a new stadium and was a big part of promoting the Academy that we are always banging on about.

He then made us bankrupt at exactly the right time to be bought over by Marcus.

Not stupid enough to want him back, but just saying.

Lowe did some brilliant things at the club, just went about them in the wrong way really

Agree0 Disagree0

Lowe gets a lot of stick, but the one thing he did was invest in our academy system as he realized that while at The Dell we could never compete financially.

He took a good U18's to a tournament in South America, and they were thoroughly beaten by sides that didn't have the riches that Saints had, and became aware that other teams around the world were doing so much better than we were.

That lead to his investing into our academy set-up, and a direct result was the Bale, Walcott, Lallana generation.

The implications of the Taylor report meant that stadiums had to go to all-seater, reducing the capacity to a little over 15,000. How Saints managed to remain in top flight football for so many years with such small crowds was remarkable.

I've often thought that had Saints managed to get St Mary's five years earlier, they would have remained in the Premier league. Sadly it wasn't to be.

However, one might argue that without the hardships, saints would not be where they are now. In my opinion, we have the best Chairman in the Premier League, with the resources behind him to actually achieve whatever the club wishes.

Who knows what the next few years will hold for Saints. All I know is that it's going to be an hugely exciting ride.
