Set to discuss a fair bit about what's going on behind the scenes

Interesting that his "fair bit about what's going on behind the scenes" is a long way away from what you have been implying for the last few weeks, Rocket!
Now, I'm not full of confidence in the guy but neither do I see any reason for him to tell porkies-he could just avoid a particular subject. So, for the moment, I will go with his version which at least has logic and financial sense to back up real behind the scenes information.

Good post Martin, although rocket had also been as much right as he is wrong. I have heard many stories from within at Mary's direct from the youth set up, some of it is happens and some doesn't for a catalogue of reasons. I can tell you that the truth has been bent slightly by the current regime on more than one occasion such as being deep into the process of appointing a high calibre manager when talks / contact had not been made.

Les Reed's interview gives me confidence that we are in safe hands. I still feel we will lose Adam and Luke, who no doubt are the unsettled players that he refers to. However, Les confirms that revenues from player sales will be reinvested in the team in order to improve the depth and strength of the squad. Our results fell away when we had injuries last year, a pledge of improved squad depth is therefore welcome news. Exciting times ahead.

I just hope we are not disappointed in his final choice we need somebody to convince Adam and Luke to stay. nothing but a big wheel will do! or another Poch.

If Koeman isn't the man most of us are now expecting to be announced as our new manager soon, then I feel we are going to get Neil Lennon. Certainly no ones first choice, but he has the experience of Europe albeit a rather unsuccessful one, and this would appear to be an aspect Saints are very much eager to attain from the new manager.

I thought Les Reed did his best to explain the situation the club are currently working within. I don't see how more open they can be, particularly in terms of who their player targets are. One thought that did strike me during the interview is would Pochettino have had to sign some sort of agreement to Saints that he would not share with Tottenham the target players Saints have shortlisted when he left? Any insight on that EDs?

Agree0 Disagree0

Ah don't say that SaintsFan29! Lennon would be a big step down from Pochettino IMO

Hi Edds, I know you get asked the same questions over and over again so I am sorry for this. Do you have any in sight on the next manager, if you do do you know roughly when it would be announced?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Les Reed has said it will be soon and that we have a shortlist of 4 managers, and are closing in on their preferred choice, he has again said no deals will be done until the manager is on board, I think it will be Koeman as he apparantly impressed the board when he supposedly met with them

les Reed is going to have to get this right or the project could go tits up. I am not of the opinion that Shaw and Lallana will necessarily leave it will very much depend on who is appointed and what new players are being brought in. Seen fro those two players prospective, they will need to consider that while moves may seem attractive they may no longer be first choice, not play every week, and still may not achieve their aims of winning trophies. United in particular have problems and if I were Shaw i'd think long and hard before accepting a move to a club that is basically in turmoil, with an ageing squad and no guarantee that such problems can be put right short term. Saints on the other hand have the better players overall, and probably with three or four additions could challenge fore championship football next season.

have talks with Ronald Koeman broke down?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

From what I understand, koeman is still in the frame but is not lowering demands in terms of the project going forward / final say on transfers. The odds have gone out slightly purely because of the time taken.

Oh and before Stevo98 gets there first, sign up koeman before Friday, Coyr don't get someone else

Does anybody think shaw has really agreed this supposed deal in principle for 160k a week? he's good but that just seems insanely high to me and think the media may have pulled this story straight out of there arsenal.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed004's Note - There is no chance he is earning that much. That's more the Mata I think and close to RVP. I don't think he will be on what Vidic etc was on (90k a week). He will be on what Januzaj, De Gea etc are roughly on 70/80k a week maybe even less}

there is no truth to this story, we need to wait until a new manager is appointed, and who that is is anyone s guess I am not sure it will be Koeman though.

Koeman or ranieri hopefully

Not sure why everyone's so hot on this Graziano Pelle guy. He's an average striker, at best. He's 28 years old, foreign and has probably hit his peak very recently. He's completely unproven in a top league, and no offence to the Eredivisie, it's not exactly hard to be a striker there - attackers tend to look very good in Holland, it's when they leave they get found out quickly. He's controversial as well, hardly known for being a team player or particularly good behaviour. It's not like he'd be overtly cheap either.

I just don't get it, this guy looks remarkably average yet everyone is chomping at the bit to get him. He's only had 2 good seasons in his career and he hasn't played at a top level or even in a top division. Is there anybody, who would really like to see him here, care to explain why such enthusiasm?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not all strikers who come from Holland lack what it takes in the EPL. Luis Suarez? ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

It's his all round technical ability too, he would link up well with the other players and be a good replacement for Lambert, weather he'd be as prolific in the prem as has in the Eredivise we don't know until we give him a chance, personally I'd prefer someone younger who can grow into the team, but saying that we do have Gallagher who will do just that so I wouldn't mind someone a bit more experienced

Agree0 Disagree0

Saying that he maybe more trouble than he's worth

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't get what foreign has got to do with it.

Lambert was completely untested in a top league, most people thought he was past his best and looked average before we signed him

As SaintBen said, look at Suarez, he's not known for being controversial or anything either. Bony has done alright too, Pelle has a better record than both of them, 50 goals in 57 games is good in ANY league

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jun 2014 12:41:19
bony is another one that's proved he can play in the prem and he came from the eredivisie

Agree0 Disagree0

Yh but Suarez is one of the best players in the world so he's definitely worth having even if he does bite someone every now and again as he's virtually irreplacable, Pelle is no where near that level, I'm not saying he wouldn't do well but there are other players out there who are just as good as him who won't vandalize a stadium every time we concede a last minute goal

Bet chumps were saying that about a 28 year old League 1 playing Rickie Lambert without watching him play a full game as well
