If anyone watched the udinese game, i hate to say it but, i told you so. The defence isnt good enough and we seemed hopeless on and off the ball, furthermore lallana is wasted in the middle of the park. All this dded up to loosing 4-0 to a team who would struggle to finish top 7 in the PL. So 1 week to go and we will get hammered all season long unless we sort it out NOW. This means 2 x CB, 1 x RW, 1 x LB, 1x GK. The LB and GK are not priorities. (not trying to be negative-there just are no positives)

Did you actually go to the game?

We weren't terrible. We had a poor game by our own standards and Udinese showed some clinical finishing.

Not the end of the world. Everyone has off days, we weren't useless, just wasn't our night and Udinese were particularly clinical.

Maybe a couple more signings will come, if not I will still have faith that our team will survive the prem and we will slowly strengthen and build - not just panic buy because a couple of fans are expecting miracles.

Agree8 Disagree4

Adkins is looking for two in each position and I don't think we need a rw puncheon hasnt put a foot wrong I think hell be fine and I'd say a new lb is essential fox looked aweful. With Lallana in the middle nothing's going down the left so I think a new lw is needed

Agree1 Disagree3

Think Shaw is better than Fox. We should pick him. He can be a top player we just need to have to put faith in the kid. He could be bigger than Chamberlain.

Agree4 Disagree3

I went to the game and agree we was terriable. wasted possesion far to often lallana is playing in the wrong position. all well and good buying young prospects but you need to balance that with exp to pass on there knowledge. worst bit for me was not the resualt but more the fact the way we played reminded me of when the dutch tits was at the helm thats how bad it was. this is only my opinion

Agree3 Disagree1

Play this lot against city next week and it will be double figures for em, season long struggle i feel

So disappointed watch the game tonight and were severely lacking in key areas, i'm just hoping we can get it together for wigan because from what i've seen were goona get smashed at city. please get top notch defenders NA were less then a week away and west ham and reading are ready were most definitely not.

and yes i am a saint, sick off people on here saying your pompey scum for writing negative things.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

I'm sure NA is trying his best!

Agree4 Disagree0

Typical Doom And gloom Merchant. So we got beat by a good team it will happen this season but we will be fine so get behind your team stop being so negative. Wow we havnt signed a player for abit oh no it's not as simple as we want him here's some money done there are many factors alot of targets won't work out others are long and drawn out. Too much money demanded for an average player. Are aim is to stay up but like Adkins said why aim for 17th aim higher and if u fall short your still ok.

Get behind your bloody team your negative Nancy's are doin my head in

Agree6 Disagree0

And people who happen to think it will eb a cruise and we will be fine are doing my head in. Because he is correct, udinese could be placed at a par with newcastle, everton and liverpool. so if we re to do even remotely well we need signings otherwise you ill watch are team loose week in week out to very average teams. Its all well aiming higher but we will still perform the same.

Agree3 Disagree4

I think you are being a little negative. They definitely had a bad day. But in the case of Fonte it is very hard to tell good days from bad ones. We need to replace Fonte asap. Other than for him I reckon the squad is ready. Although personally a little weary of Lambert's form but I'm sure he'll pull through. Pre season never seems to go well for him anyway.

Agree2 Disagree1

Think sharp needs to be the starting up front man, he livens up the attack when he comes on

I know this is the rumers page but Where does everyone think our saints will finish this season?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

After this evening bottom 3!
Jas93

Agree2 Disagree7

Above the bottom 3,it seems jas93 is a glass half empty guy, trying being half full, more positive, tonight's result will be a blessing.pauld.

Agree6 Disagree1

Hopefully Adkins will learn from this night and make changes that are fixing our problems. I.e. replace Fonte and I really believe Shaw needs to be put into the squad. He has so much talent he just needs to be shown through. He's better than Fox anyway. I think 15th or higher. Depends on how our luck goes though.

Agree3 Disagree3

Im not a glass half empty guy, i just happen to think that if we dont strengthen we will struggle, but as you have said it could be a blessing as the result from the game could push cortese into splashing the cash.
jas93

Agree0 Disagree2

And we will sign players, we may not be competing with champions league teams but I think well stuff Wigan when they come down here, as long as we win our home games against bottom half teams well be fine

Theo Walcott was spotted on the roof terrace of Buddha lounge nightclub friday in Bedford place, Southampton. Don't Arsenal have a friendly in Germany with fc koln today which surely he would be a part of? What would he be doing down here?

Believable3 Unbelievable3

The source was a member of staff working there by the way

Agree1 Disagree1

No thats tomorrow that they play with a 4pm kick off.. plus walcotts family still live in southampton

Agree2 Disagree0

Still they'd be training and its in Germany isn't it?

Fantastic. Article in daily mail. Blackpool and holloway going ape over an alleged illegal approach for Matt Philips from saints. Yeah baby, that's how the big boys roll.

Jannersaint.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I wouldn't trust the daily mail. They tend to skip over various facts.

Agree3 Disagree0

Now the Blackpool Gazette is saying the same thing.

We effectively have seven days left to sign a CB and a RW before we get annihilated by man city :( things seem to be turning sour for the saints.
Jas93

Believable2 Unbelievable6

Sour? Are you mad? Three years ago in league one with a points deduction...Rupert Lowe ( A whole different story)... Saints might not win the league Jas93, but we won't go down. Look forward to it, NO FEAR!
Lee

Agree4 Disagree1

Im looking forward to it, im just not impressed by the lack of transfer activity by the board and staff at st mary's. If you look at teams on paper compared to ours its easy to see where our weaknesses are and how much we are lacking compared to other teams. that said team on paper means nothing...

Agree1 Disagree1

Yep got to agree compared to our relegation rivals Wigan, Reading, Norwich and West brom our squad is looking a bit thin.

SSN are saying that an unnamed club has been reported to the football league and the preier league for making an illegal approach for Blackpool Winger/Striker Matt Philips. The Daily Mail are reporting that this club is Southampton FC. If this is true it shows that Soithampton are still after talented enhlish talent but hope we are going to process this in a professonal manner. {Ed001's Note - I believe it to be Villa, and Ollie's comments today suggest it is too.}
