You lot are barking mad thinking we will get Pedro, even if he wanted a move he would alert top clubs, we have no chance other than Koeman links to Barca but ultimately it's down to the player, love the optimism though!

According to Swedish football sites Van Gaal has said to Chicharito that his services are no longer needed in Manchester. The sites also said that Southampton is the club that is closest to signing him, in competition with Atletico Madrid. I personally would think this signing would be wonderful given our squad but of course we also need at least one CB and possibly a winger to provide Pellè/ Chicharito with the balls needed for them to score. Tottenham have also got good odds, but I can't see United being all too willing to sell Hernandez to them so if Chicarito is looking to stay in England I think we are in good standing. I guess the ultimate question is does he want to play week in week out for the next few years (which we can offer him) or is he more interested in a big pay check and the odd game in Europe with the likes of Juventus or Inter.

Here is a Villa fans views on Vlaar. "as a villa fan, you can have him. If you look at his individual stats both with us and before in a lesser league, they are poor to say the least. He is unbelievably injury prone (both before us and with us, there is a joke about how he always takes Christmas off) and the "concrete" thing is a joke made up by previous supporters that's been misconstrued into a compliment (this was explained when Villa bloggers interviewed fans of his ex club before he's even played for us). He's deceptively slow and does not command the aerial duals. At best he is a ball playing centre half who needs a "thug" (admittedly something we don't have) next to him. But the biggest caution of all lies in this. he's 29, not some young gun, if he was really any good, and not one world cup good, I mean really really any good, don't you think someone better than us would have signed him long before we got anywhere near him. He had an appalling euros in which he was dropped after the first game too remember. We didn't unearth a hidden gem, we took a gamble on someone else, including the club he was at, at the time, didn't want to touch. Be careful what you wish for, all that glitters isn't gold. I just hope we drive the price up, it's the only thing Lambert's any good at. "

After watching the game against bayer Leverkusen, we clearly still need a centre back and a striker.
So why can't we try our luck and ask Our feeder team to help us out. We could put in a cheeky bid for Daniel agger and victor Moses.
Still hopefully sign rojo and I think our squad will finally start to take shape.

Well is the the same Villa fan who would be playing in the Championship this season if it wasn't for Ron Vlaar. I watched a lot of him last year as he is a player I thought we could do with and just what we didn't have. Don't care about form at previous clubs etc. as players around him probably made him look average. 29! why do people keep saying he is old, if you look at most of the best current CB's in world football they are all about this age or slightly older. The world cup doesn't lie and he was up there as one of the star performers. An example is that we are after Rojo for mega money on the strength of his performance in the world cup and not on his previous form. In a nutshell we need an experienced tough tackling dependable CB and in my view Ron Vlaar fits the bill perfectly.
