shane long, wow didn't see that one did we! 12m that's our top signing, he is a good player, quick and direct, obviously the wages are in our ball park and that's what's its all about innit, don't forget its ok paying these big transfer prices but a 15m striker with 20 goals a season is on 100k plus a week and sfc will not pay that sort of wage. good on them

We would know if he failed his medical. these things take time, after agreeing the fee the player has a medical, then personal terms still have to be finalised

Apparantly we've agreed a £12m fee for Long. I don't mind Long and think he'd be an ok addition as he could play off the main striker as well as playing up top on his own but there's no way he's worth £12m, we could get a much better player for £12m IMO and it's hardly the ambitious prolific striker we need

Hope the initial fee far less and add-ons for appearances and success. Think he would compliment Pelle well. Roko known for getting goals out of a striker. Long quick and does a lot of running. Annoys defenders. Hopefully a certain Liverpool centre back on Sunday.

£12 million on Long? Seriously? One in four man for his entire career. So much for our fabulous scouting system. He was only worth £7. 5 m six months ago. Utter incompetence by the board. He's going to have to play out of his skin to improve on Lambert and Rodriguez. Uninspiring signing. Think I would rather give Liverpool the £12 m and take Lambert back.

Our new right back got a straight red last night so out for 3 games.
Cellino seems to drive a very hard bargain, so expect to pay near the 8mill to prize him away.
Good player if he stays fit, still a bit lightweight and had a pretty poor season last time.
I`d be very happy if we got 8mill.

Grenier has come out to say he wants to leave lyon.
Saints are in pole position to sign him as he has ruled out a move to newcastle and arsenal, who were interested earlier in the summer, no longer need attacking reinforcements

If the Rojo deal is off, maybe we should go for someone like Richards, he could then cover RB too, but saying that, I really like the prospect of Byram as he's an exciting young player. Maybe Shawcross would be another good CB to look at, surprised we apparently made an inquiry for Wes Morgan, but I suppose we need more leaders in the team, which is why Shawcross could be good?

I don't get peoples issues with Richards and other players at clubs like Man City who don't play regularly, just because he can't get into Man City's team doesn't mean he wouldn't get into ours? We've seen how good he is when he does play regularly why couldn't he play that well for us, plus he had his best season at CB, he would also cover RB

I think I saw Lovren meet up with the squad in Belgium. That made a lot of difference didn't it. Schneiderlin wants to leave so let him go, you know what I mean, clean sheet start again. I am shocked that we are going to pay 12m for Shane Long, I've thought about this long and hard for a couple of hours now but can't see any sense in this at all. There has to be someone out there at half the price better than him, isn't there??

Anyone got any striker/Attacking based rumours?
All I hear is this Javier Hernandez rubbish
He couldn't make it into the Manchester United squad and they only finished above us by 1 place last year
And he obviously wants a bigger move if he is to leave man utd
Also what's the latest on Sam Byrams new bid after the rejected one, Florin Gardos and his Supposed medical and Anything new on Virgil Van Dijk or Rojo

Gardos is nearly finalised. He flew to have his medical yesterday. Rojo I believe is off because his agent wants too much and they can get what they're asking for at a different team (man utd) Byram was rejected but we will likely bid again as we know he want to come to the prem. I don't believe in the Hernandez rumours because Atletico Madrid and Juventus are favourites. No other real rumours but would love a winger/striker to come in. Jeremain Lens or Kevin Volland would be great additions.
