Moyes was interested in Jack Cork at Everton. I've heard a strong rumour that Moyes rates him above Cleverley, better Opta stats re pass completion, accuracy etc. Cork might not be the big name Utd fans want but much younger than Carrick with similar style and could be available at a snip in the summer with only 12 months remaining on his contract by then. January move seems unlikely because of Wanyama's injury and potential suspension although Moyes might make a cheeky bid. Pochetino prefers a no nonsense enforcer than a ball player in front of his back four. Cork has been capped by England at all levels except senior and was part of team GB, his career has stalled this season under Pochetino. West Brom and Fulham were both previously interested in Cork, Hodgson's former clubs. A move could reignite Cork's England chances and his partner is from the north.
I like Cork and he was great against City, don't see any reason why he can't compete with Morgan and Wanyama for places and is worthy of a place in our team.
MoPo says he does not see Corky as a player that can fill in for Morgan.
Exactly, Poch wants someone to push forward and make late runs into the box and score goals (Morgan esqué, although how many goals has he scored this season? Morgan could be next under threat?) while the other CDM needs to be a spoiler, stop the other team, tackle, foul whatever necessary. Cork is a ball player, intelligent, reads the game, moves play quickly, knows where the other players are doesn't panic under pressure, a lot like Carrick. Cork will leave this summer or next unless Poch leaves before. Unthinkable? Who saw Adkins/Pochetino before it happened?
Oh and mopo has said this has he?
